I enjoy your videos, lots of shots of different angles and your accent i cant figure out because I'm not that cultured on them, makes every figure sound like a must have!! Lol
This is just me, but I really like the way the bottom of his tail is a cockpit. It keeps it looking mechanical or vehicular instead of just like some regular dinosaur. The horrorcons to me always seemed like some kind of horrifying, contorted mishmash of robot parts that did their best to look like giant monsters, and I feel like it adds to the look more than it takes away from it.
Overall both Apeface and Snapdragon are intended to be displayed with the Titan's Return Decepticon line which is now finally complete. They were not really new steps in Siege and ER but (like the Duocons) gap fillers for missing characters of previous lines.
@@PrimeVsPrime Depends especially if we are talking about the Targetmasters trio, which not only were spot on, but among the best Transformers figures, especially in the Legends release in which they were actual Targetmasters. Quality aside (which was generally far ahead of the typical Combiner Wars offering, especially in the Deluxe department) that line was meant to represent the cast from The Rebirth/The Headmasters (which was the same despite the massive differences between american and japanese continuity) but was left incomplete. The Horrorcons benefited from some years of engineering improvements but are effectively leftover characters intended to be placed in a specific period of G1 that's quite different from the rest of WFC.
I actually quite like the Horrorcons. Their beast modes look like their G1 versions, quite cartoony. I don’t have any headmasters or triple changers and I’m definitely considering getting both of them, they are quite cool to me. Apeface’s vehicle mode looks more like a space or underwater vehicle than some used in orbit. I do love both of their headmasters, and the fact they form the head of both beast and robot mode.
I just so happen to love Apeface, and I was super excited for my preorder of Snapdragon. Now that I know what he's like, I am super, mega, ultra excited! It just makes me kinda sad that a lot of people are saying that they're not that great, and I strongly disagree with that notion. But they are fair criticisms, so I can't stay angry. Overall, good review (Even if I disagree with your final verdict)
Keelan Plays In my eyes he fills out a very important role for any toy: He's fun to play with! Shockwave is a good centerpiece and Soundwave is another one for the shrine, but I just wanna *play* with Apeface when I see him. Glad I'm not alone!

Even in G1 I felt the Horrorcon beast modes were their weakest modes. I typically just had them in their robot and jet modes. I'd say they've been faithful to a fault with their War for Cybertron toys. Still love these bots all the same.
Awesome review (witch is not a surprise). I particularly like the earthrise series more than regular siege as the alt modes look so much better in my opinion
I love the earthrise jet modes for starscream and the others, the only complaint I have about them is that gap right in the middle, other than that they are awesome looking
Just found this guy today at Wal-Mart. He's a fantastic figure. The only really flawed mode in my opinion is the dragon mode. Also the Dragon mode has had a long tail and body like that since G1 so for me it's normal. You also have to realize that the jet mode is rather large so it makes sense there would be some parts left over in Dragon mode. It honestly doesn't look very bad to me overall. Way better than Apeface
Appreciate the honesty of the review! Would have been good to see a comparison with the G1 dragon figure as I get a feeling Hasbro are damned-if-they-do-damned-if-they-don’t on that. Can you imagine the uproar if it didn’t look like G1 Snap, massive cockpit tail and all?

If you're not sure where to put him my dude. You can stack him up with the rest of the Headmasters along with Double Dealer, Six Shot, and Overlord. I just realized that I have most of the G1 stuff all the way down to Season 4 so why not put them in shelves like that. Anyway... Your reviews have come a long way. Wasn't a fan when you started but I've really come around, and its nice how you get most of the figures straight away before anyone else. Cheers

But yes there are things that Hasbro could have done with the figure. In beast mode there should have been articulation in the neck. In Bot mode, the fists should have had rotating wrists. In jet mode the thrusters needed real transformation, and rear landing gear. I don’t know, maybe I will pick this up. Nice review. Oh wait, what is up with the “T” shaped holes on the top if the Jet mode and on the back of the Bot mode? That back piece has these “T” holes which don’t seem to have a purpose. Is there a use for them in the transformation?
I loved my original Apeface and always wanted a Snapdragon. I was really disappointed by the recent ApeFace and was wary of picking this one up, but I think it looks really good. I think it looks like all three modes are nicer looking than Apeface, and it sounds like the whitish plastic is much nicer too. One thing that makes the plane mode so nice is that the arms turn into jet engines instead of being left annoyingly as kibble under the wings.
I loved the original and this is so faithful to that 80's version except for the headmaster not being the complete head in dragon mode but I don't know what those T shaped holes are for
The quality of your review far outweighs the quality of the actual toy. Agreed: That flight mode is ultra sleek! On the whole, the is no mistaking who this character is meant to represent (which gives an in-element feeling when you repeatedly use the verb 'snap' in the video)! Usually, in the light of today's advancement in toy designs, when a new mould like this isn't maxed out to its full potential in one or more of its modes, there's a reason to it: Future reuse/re-purposing of the mould with alternate forms(s). In time, we will know for sure. On the whole, it took a long time since G1 to get this character reborn. For an interesting flight display, you could also include the undocumented jet mode for Titans Returns Mindwipe (combined with the Titan Master Apeface's small vehicle) to create a trio of Headmaster jets!
I love the fig, especially the color. Was surprised that he is a Head Master as the name for the Head Master mini fig has no name in the box or instructions.

Believe it or not, the long tail is reasonably accurate since theropod dinosaurs (which is what Snapdragon is clearly based on as he doesn't look like a Dragon at all) used them for balance. It's more, as you said, the lack of segmenting to make it joint like a proper tail.
I think a good triple changer hasbro could of done is Sandstorm. We haven’t seen a sandstorm since I think 2012-2013 ish and we didn’t get one in primewars trilogy. We do have the springer that hasbro maybe could have remolded into a sandstorm maybe we could see it in kingdom but unlikely due to the beast wars theme

IMO from best alt mode to worst:Robot mode,Dragon mode and jet mode.The reason is basically because robot mode gets a lots of details and a most welcome modern version from the g1 version (specially the clean back),The dragon could use some extra articulation and a better integration of the head master (like with ER Apeface),that jaw looked kind of weird.The jet mode looks good but it lack a hole part in the back ,suffer the same problem that Siege/ER Astrotrain in shuttle mode.Any way I hope to get him an Ape face to join the rest of decepticons triplechangers.
You said you didn't have any other horrorcons to go with apeface until you got Snapdragon. That's cuz they're the ONLY horrorcons, PVP. Still a great review as always, I may get Snapdragon despite lacking Apeface just because I've always liked him more
if I'm not mistaken, the 2 Horrorcons appeared in season 4 of the G1 cartoon (now that we have Apeface & Snapdragon, I have a feeling that were possibly gonna get Mindwipe)
These two are the triple changer. Mindwipe, Skullcruncher, and Weirdwolf are the trio already release in Titans Return and I'm not sure if they'll remake them this fast.

@@diisis U never know w/ Hasbro & Takara, & those are good figures (even tho I personally don't have them); I do hope to see more characters (even if they're somewhat obscure) from the different years of the G1 cartoon, Marvel comic & toyline in the WFC Trilogy as exclusives or Gen Selects releases, like the rest of the Scavengers (Krok, Misfire, Crankcase) since we now have Skytread/Flywheels & Spinister, maybe some more Wreckers, since we have Springer & Impactor (& soon to be released Rotorstorm)(such as Kup, Roadbuster, Topspin, Twin Twist, Whirl), the other Targetmasters (like Sureshot, Pointblank) to go with our WFC Siege Crosshairs, etc tho if Hasbro & Takara don't make them, I wouldn't be surprised
Son you need to watch some reviews on the G1 Horrorcons, Apeface, and Snapdragon are improved versions of G1 so you are putting down figures that are leaps and bounds beyond the originalz
You do realize that Snapdragon doesn't actually turn into either a dragon or a jet? His beast mode is based on Godzilla's (just like Apeface's is based on King Kong's) and THAT'S why he has such a long tail. Just take a look at any classic picture of Godzilla (especially from the same era) and you'll see that Godzilla has a ridiculously long tail. I think for trademark reasons the patent on Snapdragon does say "dragon" or some maybe "dinosaur" or something, but it's obviously meant to be evocative of Godzilla (Snapdragon is a Horrorcon after all). Neither he nor Apeface have "jet" modes either. They're not Seekers, they turn into starfighters, they're spaceships. Aside from those misidentified alt-modes, your review was pretty good 'tho.
I always thought the G1 Snapdragon was better than the G1 Ape Face, and Snapdragon's jet mode was better than his dragon mode. So all in all this toy fits the spirit of the toy I got at the tender age of 7 ( or was it 8?). Eh either way it was back during the Reagan administration. Damn I'm old. I am looking forward to adding THIS Snapdragon to my Titans Return collection.
I loved the 3 modes. Sure, the dragon mode kinda failed, but it's an amazing execution considering that this guy is triple changer. I want this figure so badly
One problem with the G1 accuracy trend is that emulations of crappy G1 toys will also tend to be crappy and we forgive them for it because of its accuracy.
Given the price point and lack of great tripple changers... This seems way more fantastic then you gave it credit for, even the Masterpeice looked way more dated and less dragon like with a tacked on basic ship

As someone who owns Apeface, be careful with his shield. The peg can snap off if any of the holes it can plug into are too tight a fit.
This is why I love g1, a dinosaur thing that turns into a spaceship and a robot, where else are you going to find that

I have the G1 Snapdragon so this is definitely a buy for me.
I think the lackluster nature of the horrorcons is a side effect of being really a Titans Return toy instead of a Siege or Earthrise toy.

push up those two little black triangles on both sides toward the front underside if the jet. makes it look cleaner.
This is an awesome update to the G1 toy . Same with Apeface if you had either I think you would be impressed with their new versions.
Snapdragon has to my my favorite siege release, he’s just so versatile and complete. Just remember you never have to transform a figure as intended.

I bought it when it came out. My cockpit doesn't line up and is frustrating to transform because for the gaps. Apeface seems better.
I kind of like it. Beast mode is the weakest but I don't hate it. I'm really digging plane and robot modes.
Now all we need is Optimus Primal/BW Megs retool.

if I'm not mistaken, the 2 Horrorcons appeared in season 4 of the G1 cartoon (now that we have Apeface & Snapdragon, I have a feeling that were possibly gonna get Mindwipe)
These two are the triple changer. Mindwipe, Skullcruncher, and Weirdwolf are the trio already release in Titans Return and I'm not sure if they'll remake them this fast.
@@andreyofdoom well, its possible to see Mindwipe, Weirdwolf & Skullcruncher near the end of the Earthrise line or in Kingdom (Titans Return was only around in 2016/17)
@@SSRuiz nope, I highly doubt it, we already know most of Earthrise and they wont release 3 new molds of characters that were recently released already and the TR versions are pretty much perfect in terms of Generations etc
@@diisis U never know w/ Hasbro & Takara, & those are good figures (even tho I personally don't have them); I do hope to see more characters (even if they're somewhat obscure) from the different years of the G1 cartoon, Marvel comic & toyline in the WFC Trilogy as exclusives or Gen Selects releases, like the rest of the Scavengers (Krok, Misfire, Crankcase) since we now have Skytread/Flywheels & Spinister, maybe some more Wreckers, since we have Springer & Impactor (& soon to be released Rotorstorm)(such as Kup, Roadbuster, Topspin, Twin Twist, Whirl), the other Targetmasters (like Sureshot, Pointblank) to go with our WFC Siege Crosshairs, etc tho if Hasbro & Takara don't make them, I wouldn't be surprised

Son you need to watch some reviews on the G1 Horrorcons, Apeface, and Snapdragon are improved versions of G1 so you are putting down figures that are leaps and bounds beyond the originalz

You do realize that Snapdragon doesn't actually turn into either a dragon or a jet? His beast mode is based on Godzilla's (just like Apeface's is based on King Kong's) and THAT'S why he has such a long tail. Just take a look at any classic picture of Godzilla (especially from the same era) and you'll see that Godzilla has a ridiculously long tail. I think for trademark reasons the patent on Snapdragon does say "dragon" or some maybe "dinosaur" or something, but it's obviously meant to be evocative of Godzilla (Snapdragon is a Horrorcon after all). Neither he nor Apeface have "jet" modes either. They're not Seekers, they turn into starfighters, they're spaceships. Aside from those misidentified alt-modes, your review was pretty good 'tho.

I always thought the G1 Snapdragon was better than the G1 Ape Face, and Snapdragon's jet mode was better than his dragon mode. So all in all this toy fits the spirit of the toy I got at the tender age of 7 ( or was it 8?). Eh either way it was back during the Reagan administration. Damn I'm old. I am looking forward to adding THIS Snapdragon to my Titans Return collection.
I loved the 3 modes. Sure, the dragon mode kinda failed, but it's an amazing execution considering that this guy is triple changer.

One problem with the G1 accuracy trend is that emulations of crappy G1 toys will also tend to be crappy and we forgive them for it because of its accuracy.

Given the price point and lack of great tripple changers... This seems way more fantastic then you gave it credit for, even the Masterpeice looked way more dated and less dragon like with a tacked on basic ship
