Dodgers can afford to slowly groom him in to the pitcher he wants to be without putting pressure on him to perform now. He goes to SD and the entire organization is expecting him to take them over the hump againgst the dodgers. The pressure the padres would put on a 23 pitcher would be terrible for his development.
Especially since there have been reports that the kid may have already lost some velocity. You can't just shove him into a four man rotation and expect an immediate result. Unless you want to burn him up. The Dodgers have learned this working with Yamamoto and Ohtani the past season, both of whom have had arm trouble in the past, Yamamoto missing a couple of months last year with a shoulder problem. I guarantee that if Roki signs with the Dodgers, they will take a very measured approach to his MLB workload in 2025. I wouldn't be surprised if he spent a good portion of 2025 in the high minors, properly adjusting to his future slot in the planned 6 man rotation.
Cease and king will be gone after next year. Profar and Kim are not coming back. Basically you have the new angels. Two good players. Padres are In trouble the way the owner want to cut all that salary
I would caution him with Padres. Their current owners will have limited payroll in the line of $200-250m per year. Their top 6 contracts will take about $120-$135m because it’s backloaded. King and Cease will be FA next year and Padres will not dish out $30m+ a season for them. So while next year might look good with Padres, 2026 onwards will have lots of unknown. There are better places medium term than the Padres (assuming he don’t want to play for Dodgers.
Exactly! I’ve been irritated with this push for the Padres. I am neutral on the teams as long as they are financially stable and can help him to develop at his pace. The Padres cannot offer him either. I know it’s great for them to have Sasaki, but where is the upside for him?
Padres and Cubs will face the same issue. He is their top priority because they want to be cheap. Sure if Peter Siedler was still there the Padres would have a real shot. But why would he want to join a team that clearly isn’t willing to do what it takes to win financially? He would have two maybe three years in San Diego to compete in the playoffs. Where with the Dodgers he could do it for his entire career.
The decision is Roki Sasaki's to make he best fits in really contribute to the Baseball team ⚾️. As a Dodgers fan for life it would be great if he signed with the Dodgers ⚾️💙👍.
Not for nothing BUT.....the only thing Roki does for the Madres NEXT year is take the headlines away from the Dodgers for a month. He's a feel good story for whichever team that gets him but he wont be the reason the Dodgers or the Madres win or lose the world series.
Why would he not want to join his brothers on the greatest baseball team on the planet? He will be a Dodger and join ohtani & Yamamoto hoping to be #3or 1 1-2-3 japanese pitching rotation domination mlb!!!
The dodgers are going to spread out the innings to keep everyone fresh for the post season and minimize injuries. It'll be the perfect situation for loki to get acclimated to mlb batters without having too much pressure on him as he figures things out. I doubt that he gave up all that money that he couldve earned by coming at age 25 just to be burdened of being an ace and blow out his arm and potentially lose his big pay day. Hes still young and and still raw, hes not ready for 200 innings.
Sasaki won’t fit in Padres by any means. Sasaki needs someone to support him. Darvish, who will turn 39 next year, cannot support him in any way. Sasaki has made every possible effort to be a Dodger. There is no doubt about it. If he can’t, he will fail.
@@SW-jk7ds Darvish can stay on as translator, intermediary and coach for the US lifestyle. He was seen with Sasaki in Japan last month, they were playing catch. The Padres sent him over there to have a chat
You mean there is no room for Sasaki on the 40 man roster? He can be sent down to the minors though and still be protected. The current 40 man roster includes: 1. Jack Dreyer 2. Michael Grove 3. Edgardo Enriquez 4. Kyle Hurt 5. Nick Frasso The first two can be released/cut and the Dodgers sign Blake Treinen and Kershaw. There is still room for Sasaki because between the next 3, all 4 can be sent up and down to the minors. It can be more of a rehab assignment too. There is still room for Walker Bueller too. As far as rotation goes, considering how so many Dodgers pitchers end up on the IL, Sasaki doesn’t have to worry about playing time. If he’s good enough he’ll pitch. Have to compete against the best and deepest.
It’s not a rivalry. It’s dislike for Manny Machado. Don’t confuse the two. When we cheer for the Padres when they play the Giants that’s how you know it’s not a rivalry.
When the some of the Dodgers did an interview after the World Series, they all agreed we were the toughest, hardest team to play them all season and in the playoffs. It is absolutely a rivalry.
Just because I have really disliked the Pads even before Machado as a Dodger fan. Giants then pads for atleast last 20 yrs!! Get TF outta here San diego!! Tony gwynn, Hoffman Winfield & current!
@@ThatPickinLifestyle just because they admitted that the Padres were the toughest team doesn’t make it a rivalry. Max Muncy was on an interview and smiles and said those guys don’t like us. The rivalry is one sided, stop making your team out to be more important than they are. Not a rivalry.
I thought you were Joey votto. Padres are cutting salaries and not resigning guys they need. While the dodgers are just being mean and signing all the good players 😂cease and or king will be gone next year both walk years
Sasaki is a rough diamond, he has raw talent but he needs to be able to use that powerful fastball as an anchor around a plethora of different pitches. The more he learns the better. If he doesnt, he'll blow out his arm. He will need to learn when and where to pick his spots. It would make more sense for him to join up with his WBC buddies and figure it out. He will have a longer leash as the Dodgers are able to accommodate his development without depending on him to win. The Dodgers are a no brainer, especially with all money he would be making just off the endorsements from the exposure of being in that team.
@ssaym105 he has a splitter, fourseam, slider. Three pitches. He has only pitched around 110 innings at most. He needs to learn an offspeed pitch to play off his fastball. He has raw talent but hes not as polished as Ohtani and Yamamoto. He has higher potential but you dont know how good he will be in the mlb until he comes here.
He isn’t going to be one of the best pitchers in baseball over the next couple years. He has two pitches, two. And both are hard. Which is a big reason why he can’t stay healthy. MLB hitters will just spit on the splitter and sit on the fastball. He’s great to have because he’ll be so cheap but if you’re expecting anything more than a sub 4.00 ERA and 100 innings for the next year or two then you are going to be in for a shock.
He has three, the four seam, splitter, and slider. Hes young and has a lot of room for development. He also has a curveball but he hasn't been using it recently but he can definitely refine it. You could be right but I dont know how you could come to that conclusion so early when hes the youngest person to throw a perfect game at 20 years old in the npb. Hes coming over and risking a huge payday with his goal to break records. Id put money money on that he will do just that.
@@Mike-fv1ti Maybe towards the backend of 2025 he contributes just like Yoshi contributed down the stretch for the Dodgers, but I wouldn't expect anything extraordinary from him next season if he is a Dodger.

Padres has bad contracts, bad farm system, Yu Darvish is old, and they're done spending on players. Why would he go to that?
All that and no cable TV/streaming deal
Cease and king will be gone after next year. Profar and Kim are not coming back. Basically you have the new angels. Two good players. Padres are In trouble the way the owner want to cut all that salary
Everything you just said is wrong and it’s clear you don’t know ball, especially not the Padres lol
He’s definitely going to the team with his homies Shohei and Yoshi.
Dodgers going to Japan in 2025 season. Vs cubs. Yamamoto and Roki would open that up just imagine that $$
From a living perspective I would choose San Diego any day over LA. But from a money and fame perspective I would definitely choose LA.
You make a great argument for the Padres making a more interesting story. That said as a dodgers fan I’m rooting for dominance 😅
Sasaki is not going to the broke ass Madres. He going to team Japan in blue. Done deal....
Sasaki to the Padres…
sasaki aint gon thrive in puss angeles since they alr got ohtani & yamamoto & blake snell & errbody else, he better off in san diego
I see you’re not exactly MLB GM material… 😂
If he wants to win Dodgers, if he goes to the Padres, then he'll be the next Trout..
Sasaki will sign with the Madres if Silva grows hair.
Who the hell is Silva?
When is the Madres’ “Roki Sasaki might sign with us” victory parade?

Dodgers are the new Yankees ! If kid is smart and wants to win for the next 10 yrs, he’ll go to the best market! Dodger blue 💙
Dodgers are the Dodgers. Not the new Yankees.
Madres suck. He's coming to LA.
Dodgers suck, I’ll be back mid January.
LA straight scared of SD you got 30 something teams and ALL LA worried about is SD!! They jealous and scared buying up an army lol 😅
Who are the madres

Homies are there
There needs to be a serious talk about the LA issue in baseball. If this continues to happen, I hope fans leave.
olney doesn't always get it right.. Likely Padres
