I remember hanging out with all of the Ramones at the Stone in San Francisco. They were some of the coolest people you could ask to meet and it’s really weird to think…they’re all gone. Johnny and Joey were sweet guys 🖤
I would loved to have met them. They actually played some small club or maybe just a bar in Norwalk, California, in 1976. I grew up in Whittier, just north of there, but I was just a baby when they did that show. Seeing them on the Lollapalooza 1996 tour in San Jose, CA, is a great memory for me, but I knew then it would be the only time, since I knew that they were retiring that year. Gabba Gabba Hey!
And they were from New York also...
DeeDee was a cousin of mine! My Mom was a Colvin, DeeDee's ( Doug) dad was one of my grandpa's brothers, great video!

Literally grew up listening to the Ramones ever since I was 9yrs old and heard Pet Sematary kick in when the credits rolled in the Stephen King movie. The definition of legends.

Pleasant Gehman was the lady who was feeding the ducks. She appeared in the Viper Room episode of Dark Side of the 90's. She witnessed River Phoenix dying outside of the Viper Room. Johnny Ramone was my favorite Ramones band member.
Pleasant Gehman was also the last person to introduce Dee Dee Ramone onstage at his last performance before passing away (Club Makeup)
Being born in 1993, I never had the chance of seeing them live (I met CJ a few years ago here in Houston, but that’s another story). They’re one of my favorite groups, I grew up with their music.

I saw the Ramones in Detroit at the State Theater. Social Distortion was the opener. So cool.
A story for ya: April 8, 1994 we took a break from touring & drove down with a couple of other bands to see the Ramones in Atlanta. On the way down we kept noticing Nirvana playing constantly on the radio between tapes. Was wondering why then got the news they found Cobain. That night usually quiet Joey dedicated Pet Semetery to Kurt Cobain!

I was quite stoked when I discovered these Ramones graves, actually one grave and one memorial. I saw Johnny's first. On another trip I searched and found Dee Dee's. My nickname as a baby was Dee Dee.

I love Hollywood forever cemetery. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I was there a few years back. Pay respects to Tyrone power's. His grave is awesome. Like a bench and you can sit down. But I saw the grave or that statue of Johnny Ramone. That is so awesome. I do hope to get back there again soon. I would love to get inside the big mausoleum. Every time I went it was always closed. But I did find fay Wray's grave there. Just walking around and stumbled across it. Found a lot of other Graves of people I watched on TV over the years. But I would like to go back and pay respect to more people and I would love to see the Ramones ducks. They are beautiful

It’s crazy being a teenager in the mid 80’s I never listened to much other than heavy metal and about 10 years ago I watched a documentary on the Ramones and was Immediately hooked.Such a cool and humble band with such a sad ending.

At last, a Grimm Life video visiting the graves of two members of my favorite rock band of all time, The Ramones. I visit them every time I go to Hollywood Forever.
I've been a fan of them since the '80s, when I first saw the "Psychotherapy" video on Video One, a local music video show hosted by KROQ DJ Richard Blade back then. They were the weirdest group I've ever seen, but the song was so catchy. Of course, a bit later, "Pet Semetary" was a big hit for them and I loved it.
I was finally able to see them play at Lollapalooza 1996, even though Dee Dee had left the group by then. My brother and I were able to get about ten feet from Johnny. Easily the fastest guitar player I've ever seen! The pit was so crazy I was getting crushed, and I lost my watch, having not removed it prior to entering the mosh. I didn't have as much pit experience then as I do now, so I didn't know a watch strap could easily be broken by the violent crowd. That's my big memory of the show, besides how fast they played and weird they looked. They predated the MTV era, where looks were a must in getting video airplay.
It was sad to see them die off, starting first with Joey in 2001. In less than fifteen years, all of the original Ramones went to the Great Gig in the Sky. They lived fast and died...middle aged.
I'll always love the Ramones. Thanks for the tribute, Grimm Life. Hey ho, let's go and Happy Halloween!

This was a double bonus video for me. Love the Ramones, but to see what Coyote Shivers did was really cool. I never knew this about him. Loved his character in the movie "Empire Record" which is my all time favorite movie and his song "Sugar High". What is also cool is, as a father my daughter (now 26) has been a fan of the Ramones since she was a little girl which is rare with today's youth. The Ramones were a very friendly group. Hung with them when they played the Paradise. I remember a friend of mine took a bunch of rolling papers and stuck them together, making a long tail and stuck it on the back of Joey's jacket.

Seeing the Ramones in Oakland in 1979 was a life altering experience for me, as it led me down the path of being the penniless musician i remain until this day. But it also led me down the path of a life full of crazy adventures. Ten years later I opened for the Ramones, twice, at the Fillmore, and played at Joey’s birthday bash in New York. I remember going to see Rock & Roll High School at Hollywood Forever about 15 years ago and thinking how cool it was to see thousands of Ramones fans watching it just a few yards away from Johnny and DeeDee’s headstones.

By the way, the woman who trained the ducks, Pleasant Gehman, is one of the earliest members of the Los Angeles punk scene, along with Pat Smear of the Foo Fighters. I’ve had chance encounters with her over the past forty years, and for many decades she was like the picture of Dorian Gray. She just seemed to get younger with each passing decade. Also, just a few feet behind Dee Dee’s grave is the grave of Bianca Halstead of the band Betty Blowtorch, and it used to be covered in the same kind of offerings and memento’s as DeeDee’s headstone.

The Ramones were friends of Mine , they came to My House long ago , Joey used to call My Mom Ma , her Name was Ramona , ....... The rest is history but i used to wash their hair in Cosemetology School , My Good Friend used to Date one of them ..... I just got back to the UK following a trip to LA. Had an incredible time there, and made sure to visit hollywood forever having seen your vids. It was stunning. I was probably there right around this time.
We went fairly close to closing time but I made sure to see Johnny's grave next to Chris Cornell and Burt Reynold's too. Amazing place ❤
