any imported item as long as it is SOLID can be turned into a vorvoni however the more complicated it is the harder it will be to get a good amount of openings. so just make sure you turn the object you bring in into a solid and fix it's defects (see me other videos if you do not know how) then just follow this process.
Hi! I was wondering if you know a way to use an imported element? EG instead of random poly/tubes you could import a separate .obj that is repeated around the mesh? Thanks!
Ruggada as long as the file is saved to ur computer if u click the import button then select append instead of replace u will be able to bring in another file and do as u please with it even put it inside the voroni
hi thanks for nice tutorial! i have one question every tim i am making this pattern it gives me inner shell and outer shell. and i want only outer shell is there any option to do so?
claudio feldman I learned on my own by experimenting with the program. truthfully started learning 3D printing at sheridan college and went from there. if you are looking for a good book on 3D programs I like "3D printing with autodesk, 123D, tinkercad and makerbot" by lydia Sloan cline it's has helped me trouble shoot as well
Thank you ! ( one more question: " do you use Meshmixer to reduce the weight o Netfabb ?..when the file is too heavy to send to online 3D printing ??( file since Meshmixer : sometimes so heavy ?) Thanks Please, and thank you again !!
elcurvo when the file is to heavy I use meshmixer to fix that as well. please go to my preparing for print video to see full steps. however if u click the print button then export from that menu it will save as a regular stl instead of an stl aci II which is a much smaller file size. that or I use Windows 10's 3D print program 3D builder to simplify it a bit more with their smoothie program and then save it from there. hope this helps
Paweł Pacek easiest way to do this is to cut a ball in half then mirror it separate the 2 into different layers then follow the steps in the video to make the vorvoni on 1 side afterwards fuse the 2 layers together so half will be and half won't
On the area you want to vorvoni select it with the select brush tool separate it from the layer and repeat the same steps it's tedious however it makes sure the process is done properly
Paco Ortiz this is the only way to accomplish the voroni style pattern in meshmixer. you can use the mesh + Delaunay (dual) edges however this program does not call it a voroni so I labeled what to use to make it in the video for those using meshmixer so they could find the setting with ease. on other programs it may be labeled different but this is the only method in meshmixer that works
jordgubb thank you so much I am glad you enjoyed my video. If you want more let me know and I will try and make the video. Thank you also for the kind words.
Thanks. Hope your mic gets better eventually!
Thanks a lot for this tutorial!!

Hi i had the same problem. Build it as a surface and u ll get one shell. Kinda of late solution :P
Thank you,
I have searched long time.
From where are you learned?.
Greetings

Hello, do you know the way how to make pattern only on a half of ball?
Paweł Pacek easiest way to do this is to cut a ball in half then mirror it separate the 2 into different layers then follow the steps in the video to make the vorvoni on 1 side afterwards fuse the 2 layers together so half will be and half won't
Ok, and what in case where I want to make pattern on some part of object, not half?
On the area you want to vorvoni select it with the select brush tool separate it from the layer and repeat the same steps it's tedious however it makes sure the process is done properly
You have a pleasant, lilting accent. Thank you
No problem anytime
Dual mesh and voronoi are two different things.
NIce tutorial, but the word isn't "Vor-VO-ni", it's Vor-O-noi (pronounced VOR-OH-NOY). :)
I apologize for pronouncing it wrong
Very well!!!!
Thanks...
