Thank you ever so much Jessica for your time into researching deep into all this very valuable information. There is so much to absorb here that I will be listening on repeat. You speak so clearly with a lovely voice, and pronounce those big words so well! As a new microgreen grower what you have shared here is of extreme value to me. This compilation of information you have taken so much time to reference and research is beyond next level respected and appreciated. This is just super exciting to know that studies are still ongoing. Jessica, 🙌🏻
😊 Thanks Paula! I'm not particularly a fan of the camera, but I wanted to help my fellow growers. Like most research, It can be a bit overwhelming trying to find scientifically-backed information, but totally worth it!
Thanks!!! Love being able to share the knowledge! 💚 It was quite the undertaking... and there's sooo much more that I've learned even since this was filmed! Definitely need to do an Pt 2 🌱🌱🌱🌱
@@IttyBittyMicroFarmthat would be awesome! Would love to see that along with an effective way to communicate it to the customer. The "up to 40x" can be misleading because it's not for all nutrients and the varieties all so different. Very cool topic and it is amazing how much nutrition they do provide!
This is my first time enjoying your TH-cam channel. Great content! Looking forward to hearing more from you! Your video was so informative. Thank you so much!
Thanks for watching! I hope you find some helpful information. Feel free to comment on videos if you have any additional questions- we love being able to help! 🌱
Thank you for sharing this video! I've only read tiny bit about the health benefits in microgreens, so a lot of this was really eye opening! Thanks for taking the time to do all this research and put together a presentation for us
Thank you for sharing such high quality information. I'm currently living in Brazil, and would like to produce microgreens commercially but it's expensive getting high quality organic seeds. I've considered importing those; do you have any suggestions for an international microgreens seed supplier?
Most larger seed companies like Mumm's, Johnny's Seeds and True Leaf Market will provide the necessary documents for exporting to other countries. I'm not sure the cost, but it may be worth looking into! 👍
good stuff, we just found about about this hidden treasure of sprouts and microgreens in an apartment, when ya got no soil. sprouting is like hidden mana for the poor it seems
Sprouting is AWESOME for individuals! Weve sprouted for ourselves in the past. Commercially, we don't do sprouts as microgreens are a much safer product, but totally agree- Sprouting is a great option for apartments!
Honestly, I need to do a complete video just on sulforaphane! 😅 That section alone would have made this video unbearably long for most people. LoL But really though- the sulforaphane content in brassicas, particularly micro broccoli is incredible!!
Listened to the video. Question: how much in micro consumption as compared to nutrition in full grown plant. What I mean is , how much are we to eat to get this great benefits?
While Each variety is more nutrient dense than full grown versions, the amount of increase can vary greatly. I have yet to find any specific answers to serving sizes, but we usually suggest around 1 ounce per serving. Honestly, it would be nearly impossible to eat too much. 🙂
Around 75% of the time I can sell microgreens to customers who have never heard of them before at farmers markets for the usual $5 for 2oz, industry average. I try to be as specific as I can with the 6 varieties I grow. It's unfortunate the actual nutritional data is very very limited, I'd love to display the exact nutrient measurements. Sunflower is the only one that I could find, broccoli too but I had lost that source before saving it.
I absolutely agree that nutrition information can be difficult find for some varieties, partially because there can be so much variation in nutritional content depending on how the micros have been grown. Soil, nutrients, & lighting can all affect the nutrition, so the only accurate way to show specific nutrition is to have YOUR micros tested.
@@IttyBittyMicroFarm that is partly another reason. One thing is for sure, compost grown are the richest in nutrients. I do hope to test mine out one of these days and have it presented in the USDA database for all if my future hydroponic food business is successful. Can't afford much right now lol.
