Congrats on the new digs. Looking forward to all of the goodness to come out of this studio and channel. Cheers
Some in depth stuff. Thank you andrew!
Fady is INCREDIBLE!!! Such a warm and generous guy.
Yes but what type of box do I put them in when packing?
What you packin?
@@MePeterNichollsprobably that Antelope 😂
awesome thank you for doing this andrew
I'm using the A32pro along with my RME UFX3. Both great units, and the A32pro is super simple to integrate. Great video!
Hi Greg, I'm considering this setup as well but wondering how the conversion quality compares between RME and A32. Which conversion do you prefer first?
@@tomrogers2790 I’m not an expert on conversion, lol. I chose the UFX3 as my main interface because of the Madi and ADAT flexibility, as well as the reputable AD/DA conversion. I then chose the A32pro for the compatibility to the RME (both are owned by same company). So the A32 handles the conversion for all external I/O. I takes a while to grasp or understand RME’s Total Mix software, but once yo do…it’s awesome. Plus with this setup, there’s no need for external patchbays, since Total Mix handles both the RME and Ferrofish routing. Hope this was helpful.
@@tomrogers2790 I have the same exact setup I am using a RME UFX III and a new black face Ferrofish A32pro that I took nearly 10 + months deciding to buy or not. So far I am very happy. I did consider the Antelope Galaxy series but I read many reviews that were very negative on the company and I wanted something very solid so I went with the RME UFX III and the Ferrofish A32pro. I may not be correct about the Antelope but I had to come to some conclusion and the Antelope reviews I read were not good. RME has a record for being rock solid according to what I researched.
Sweetwater no longer stocks antelope because their past issues and support team were not able to solve issues that led to customers returning their products and sweetwater putting an end to their headache bc of customers
Good to know! thx
I got my gear prior to the ufx3 and A32 release. I use the RME UFX+ and FerroFish Pulse 16 via Madi. Very happy with it.
Great Video!
What if i wanna expand the hi-z(instrument ins) capabilities of an interface?
For usb interfacing there is only 1 or 2 options from what ive seen for an interface with more than 2 instrument ins/hi-z inputs the universal audio 476p and the motu m6 are the only ones on the market that ive seen with 4 hiz inputs.
And sometimes hacing 4 isnt enough if you wanna connect all your instruments at the same time.
I just picked up an A32 pro in conjunction with my RME UFX plus. It’s been a huge addition to my studio.
I got the same set up but I am using a RME UFX III
What I do not understand is why Andrew is using a BNC cable. I have mine hooked up with only a Madi cable and it works fine no issues.
@@braxal6983 yeah same here 🤷🏻♂️
What’s with having to move so often?
He’s in witness protection after helping to take down a global drug cartel. It was in a previous episode.
@@trentondurham7670 Jeez, ya miss one episode…
great explanation, very clear. It will rain though.
Awesome video
so what happened to your UADs
How many I/Os does the control room doggo take? Will snacks and pets do?
Love the tips!
Andrew so question, When will you be moving into your new space after this?
Lol😂😮
Thanks for sharing, What do you plug all your mics and line instruments into?
XLRs go to stage boxes, 1/4 go to DI boxes then stage boxes. This is standard for commercial studios using outboard preamps / equipment with patch bays.
I am curious why you need to hook up the BNC cable? When I hook up my Ferrofish A32pro using the Madi cable to the RME UFX III it syncs up no problem.
Ok, I think I found the answer to why Andrew is using the BNC cable because the Antelope does not provide the clocking information in the Madi cable the RME UFX III does so RME interfaces with Madi do not need the BNC cable where as the Antelope does. You can use a BNC cable to with the RME but it is not needed for Madi.
I used to have a Antelope Orion 32 and RME HDSPe MADI card, the only way to go if you can afford it.
You probably need to treat that vaulted part in the contole room, you can hear it ringing in this audio ...Should be straight ahead. ;)
What dual keyboard stand is that @ 0:10 ? Also, does the ADAT add any latency beyond what the Galaxy interface has?
Andrew! Curious as to how you’re routing those remote computer setups from the drum room to the control room. You mentioned Ethernet, but is there a software aspect/anything additional involved to get it setup? I’ve never heard of a mouse/keyboard with anything other than USB ports (which I know can be limited in terms of how long those cables can run). Thanks!
Hey, are you talking about the IG reel I did on the setup?
@@itsstudiotime hey, thanks for the reply! Didn’t know you put up a reel/had an IG! Yes this is exactly the answer I was looking for, just followed you on there now too 😊 Thanks so much!
are you familiar with dante? What are your thoughts on that? when ill start a studio, i'll probably get a pure dante interface with 128 or 256 dante IO, skip the patchbay and just go with dante converters (or dante cards in case of something like the neve 1073opx). If i'd have multiple rooms, i'd only have to connect them via ethernet cables - plus doing live stuff would be viable
Ideal world - buy a Galaxy 64... this is definitely the next best option though!
1:11 Make it a Reverb Chamber. Break up the waves with some Angled Epoxy coated Plywood panels.
currently trying to decide between this setup or the Galaxy 64 interface... either way, I do need 64 channels to go to my computer as well. Curious what made you choose to go with the setup you have now vs the Galaxy 64?
I have the Galaxy 64 and it is great. If you are an HDX user, I would choose that over the Galaxy 32 and the Ferrofish.
A32 pro👍. One correction for you. The A32 is not an audio interface. It cannot be used standalone. It requires an interface such as your galaxy or a device such as the rme madface usb.
I liked the last study better. with all the instruments in one place, more creativity
Will the latency be the same at 32 channel input recording? I mean that's the real test. And to be able to provide latency free headphone signals.
Yep no latency issues, automatic delay compensation on hardware inserts and direct monitoring via galaxy.
@@itsstudiotime Good to hear. Looks great. Hope you will get lots of customers.
@@itsstudiotime What would the benefits/differences be with connecting the Galaxy via a HDX card vs Thunderbolt? Wouldn't the usage of the Ferrofish channels as Pro Tools hardware inserts have a different sample delay because of MADI and perhaps a different internal sample delay on the Ferrofish compared to the Galaxy channels? Is the compensation for both the internal Galaxy channels and the Ferrofish added channels handled transparently in the background or differ with or without the use of a HDX card? I wonder about the same thing if you add any ADAT expander to any interface, how does the main interface know the specific internal sample delay any random ADAT expander has?
If you are conecting via MADI, why are you also using BNC cables? (Honest question)
I wondered that too, MADI also can carry clock info, just have to set the ferrofish Clock source as MADI.
I don’t see the link for your friend’s TH-cam channel. Could you link it?

yes thank you! www.youtube.com/@fadygergis
Why are most interfaces still 24bit?
OH MY GAAD! 64 INPUTS 😱
Why didn’t you just buy the Galaxy 64 instead of the Galaxy 32 and Ferrofish, because of the price?
double sponsoring for just 1 video :) This ferrofish 64 seems really nice! perfect to feed an analog desk.
IO Burger
oooh im so early
Do you have any data on who your audience actually is? Is 64 channels of I/O actually relevant to anyone? It's not to me.
