Like a lot of anti-theft items; the locking lug nuts will only make it a little harder for the professional thief (makes them sound good) but the drug addict thief isn't likely to come prepared with the right tools so it might make it hard enough for them to move on to something else. I usually keep the key for them in the center console.

But I ended up moving country before I got a chance to try them out. I still have them, never used, but it pleases me to know they do work. I really enjoy your methodical and curious nature. lol. I love how you hate the ss595 tires. I had them on the advice that they were good, inexpensive performance tires. I had a similar experience to you. They were loud and rode very rough. Replaced with Hankook Ventus Evo V12. MUCH better. Quiet, more grip, smoother ride.
Thanks for video. Most video’s on TH-cam are for the other lock nuts(flower shaped). I have those lock nuts and wasn’t sure if the tool you used would work. Now I know. The tire shop last winter never put back the key in my daughter’s glove box. What are the odds they would say we put it back. Yeah right!!

Love your videos. You must be doing good 5 advertisements in this video so far. I think the steel pin that came with back out sockets (red box) is there to drive out the bolts/lug nuts out of the sockets. Tell us about your lift I wish I had one.
To break free the lug nut from "socket", I think you could thread it all back on the lug a couple turns, then jiggle free the impact wrench. Then spin off lug nut by hand.
We used to just take a large punch or chisel and a 5 lb sledge hammer and smack the offending locking lug nut in a downward direction, not in towards the wheel. Usually after a couple good shots the wheel stud will just break off. Then remove the wheel as usual. Of course you break off the stud, but they're only a couple bucks apiece, and easily replaced. Ron Wilber It looks similar to my Milwaukee Fuel 18 2600 ft/lb nut buster. I tell you that Milwaukee is a beast, weights a lot but it will rip the rusted bolts off like butter. Not cheap though, $375 with battery and charger.
The humming is because of the asymmetic tread pattern. It's supposed to look cool and they market it to younger ones. But if you want low noise, get symetrical non directional tires. Some even are computer designed for noise cancellation. And a good tire. Many cheap ones have belt separation under the tread which can cause rumbles. As does very dry old rubber. As for the up and down. That kind of cupping is due to bad suspension making the tire bounce and also alignment can feather the tread as well.

The coldest morning was around 34 degrees, and even up to 50 it's still pretty cold to Californians especially if you're near the coastal plains where it's very windy. That time of year it is rainy so the temps feel ten degrees colder than it really is. Maybe not a Siberian winter, but more like a Mongolian one.
A few years including 2000 had problems with the automatic transmission, you can find a lot of information on line. I'm very happy with Rav4 from the early 2000s, there hasn't been much to do., just normal maintenance and a brake master cylinder.
7:49 those are directional tires (uni-directional- see the rotation indicator on the tire showing the proper mounting direction). Great tip! Usually at my work we will use a 12 point 1/2 socket to take off lock nuts with no key.

Nicely done and great problem solving skills, good demo. Hammering the socket really helps it to grab the lug nut so removal is so much easier.

I love it! If you don’t have key, buy key. If you can’t buy key destroy lock. It’s an awesome practical solution.

They're not theft protecting lug nuts. Aftermarket wheels have very narrow lug nut holes so you have to use aftermarket lug nuts

So glad we don't have inspections in Florida, but some people abuse the system and even remove the mufflers and cat converters.
