A great re-imagining of an old Dinky Toy. Your trained skills and methodical approach, make for a very relaxing to watch video. Well done, all around Timo.
Excellently done Timo - every aspect completed with extraordinary attention to detail. This Ambulance comes with five other vehicles to make up a rare set: Gift Set #3 or #199. (27F/344 Estate car + 40E Standard Vanguard + 40G Morris Oxford + 40H Austin Taxi + 140B Rover 75) If you're interested you will find no finer a reproduction box for this set of 6 from Robb and Lynda Barlow of DRRB Reproduction Boxes. Dinky Toys that have the amount of attention they receive at your hands only deserve to be kept together. Thank you for the entertaining tutorial. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🇬🇧
Thank you Peter. I'll have a look at that repro box. Of course then I need to restore a 40H Austin Taxi and a 140B Rover 75. I'll have to keep my eyes open for those. Merry Christmas. ⛄️🎄
Always a pleasure to watch you work, Timo. This is a beautiful restoration, and as you said, better than Dinky did originally in mass production. I always leave here with tool envy! 🍁😀
Thanks Andrew. I do love my tools. I am now playing with my pre-owened 3d resin printer, and I am thinking a lot about that vacuum moulding, windscreen maker. ☃🇨🇦
Hi Timo. Very much enjoyed your Daimler Ambulance restoration video. You sure made an ordinary run of the mill casting look very special. I too am not so steady when it comes to painting headlights on my projects and your masking tape method made the job a lot easier so thanks for that and I will try it out that way too. All the best. David.
Hello Timo. More than a restoration not a toy anymore but it is a great model, thanks for all the great tips. I like to enhance models by putting in windows as well . Hope you and your family are keeping well regards Glyn
Well Timo, you pulled it off again with that one! 👏🏻👍🏻👌🏻 Long story short, I’m in the London (not Ontario) Ambulance Service and we have one of these preserved. The thing has a big slab of concrete under the floor to deaden the ride for the punter! I’ve done several of these up now for friends and colleagues…..Dinky didn’t make much of an effort with them…….and yours is pretty much exactly how I do mine with the exception that I make London County Council (LCC) decals but, back in those days, there were about as many ambulance services as there were ambulances. Lovely job mate……….Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and yours 🇨🇦🇬🇧
Thank you Septic 🚽. Damn! I wasn't sure what the LCC was all about, and now I realize that I should have added it. Oh well. Ke so-what so-what. Merry Christmas ☃
Thank you Adrian. I'm glad you are enjoying these videos. That's where I get my best reward. I figure I am paying back to all the video makers who I enjoy. Merry Christmas. ⛄️🎄
A great job. I have one of these in fairly good original condition and it's white rather than the colour of yours. The windows on the real ambulance were heavily tinted so that you couldn't see into it from outside, but you could see out from the inside.
Thanks Les. There were three colours that I know about. White, Cream, and Green. I suspected that the windows were tinted, but they all look black from the outside. Merry Christmas
Love it, start with ugly duckling, good ideas, detail care etc, turns into really great resto thanks. Have you seen the Budgie toys daimler ambulance ?
Like the effect. The tweaks really work. Daimler was a British company, not connected with the German one (which traded as Mercedes-Benz). The pronunciation is DAME, not DIME. The operator name on the sides would always have been in capital letters, making the typeface less important in this size. The common word "bedlam" actually originates from the name of the mental hospital founded in the 13th century. It is a contraction of "Bethlehem".
I am always happy when somebody gives me a lesson in British Automobiles of the 1940s, or thereabouts. I tend to know all about North American vehicles, but am sorely lacking in knowledge about stuff from the Kingdom of Uk. I used Bedlam Hospital as a name, mostly because I don't know anything about any other UK hospitals. Most are just boring. I think I was told by somebody, about the contraction from "Bethlehem", but I forgot it. Either way, can you tell me if that hospital actually had ambulances in the 40s or 50s? Cheers
Thanks Alan. I paint my dots with instruments built for the purpose, finger nail dot makers. They are solid ball tipped paint "brushes". You dip the ball into the paint, and press a dot wherever you want it. Makes life simple. You can buy them from nail varnishing, or beauty supply stores, or from Amazon.
Hi, I am in the process of restoring the same model only in white. Is it possible for me buy a set of decals from you? I do not own a color printer. I live in Massachusetts.
Yes you can. Fortunately, I didn't lose any of the elements since then. I can print them to clear decal paper, and mail them to you. Please contact me on my email wiseguy1138@gmail.com
I only saw pictures of the Corgi one. It sure looks different, but the general shape of the vehicle looks identical, like the real thing. Corgi did a much better job, but I'll bet you paid for it.

Thanks Ivc from Scotland. I dina ken why they didn't decorate the windows in the first place.
Great job Timo. Perfect detailing. Best wishes

Love it, start with ugly duckling, good ideas, detail care etc, turns into really great resto thanks. Have you seen the Budgie toys daimler ambulance ?
Thanks Eddy. The Budgie one is a better looking casting, for sure, but the later Corgi model is just magnificent. Cheers🍺

I cut out the triangle bits on the front screen, much better, also I ground off the cross and got LCC transfers and made a bell for the front.
Awesom Robert. There's always a better way to do things.
That looks absolutely lovely. What do use for your dot painter for the indicator lights etc?
