With due respect, Although resting and sitting at ease would decrease requirement of sleep quantity, Medically, deep sleep is also very necessary for repair and good cognitive ability. And for deep sleep, quality of sleep is very significant.
Sleeping less is the single worst thing you can do to your body. Just because a few guys on earth can sleep so less does not mean everyone can. 7-9 hours of proper sleep is must for 99.99% of the people. I am obviously not going to go deep in the science on why sleep is so so absolutely necessary for you and although sadh guru might be a wonderful guy, it does not make him immune to spreading false information. Especially if you are a young person, sleeping 3-4 hours days after days is pretty much suicide.
I think sleep is important because your full body get to rest. Ice rain and full body rest and that equals to sleep .Sitting down your eyes open and you may be thinking of what to do next I don’t think that’s rest.
