This is 10 years old and still valuable info. I’ve watched videos and tried for days to get the belt back on my Kirby. Thanks for simplifying it; the whole process took less than 3 minutes once I watched this - even with my arthritic hands! THANK YOU!
Thanks for the compliment :) Yes the Great Vacs service team are pros. Quick funny story. One time we got a brand new Kirby in and set it next to one of our rebuilds. The rebuilt one was shinier and looked better than the new one :) Sad to say its not a chemical you can put on it but it takes specialized equipment and years of experience to make them look that good. If you ever want to send your Kirby in for a tune up or rebuild we do that all the time. Thanks for the kind words
Thank you. I appreciate all the detailed steps, which gave me success! I watched another tutorial, doing all that was taught, and my belt never engaged...but was floppy and detached from the motor.
On my Kirby G Series vacuum it doesn't look like you can put the brush roller in anyway you want because the belt is not exactly centered. Is this true and what happens if you removed the brush roller and put it in the opposite way, where the belt is now mostly towards the left side Instead of the right side.
Oh thank you. First time i put the kirby belt on.. thought i was doing it wrong, but no wonder they put a lever on the later models... i think i popped a blood vessel in my wrist trying to get the belt to the two red points putting belt on. whew! Thanks GreatVacsCOM
Glad to help :) If you ever want to leave a review of your Kirby on our website that is very helpful to other people who have never owned a Kirby. Happy Vacuuming :)
I'm getting furious, every time I put the head back on and put it back on green it releases the belt and I have done it before, I have no idea what is wrong? Is it possible that the grey turn knob is backwards? I had a aid here years ago and he used to bang into the furniture but I have changed the belt since then, it's always been a pain in the but but nothing like this.
Sure no problem glad to help :) This applies to everyone here but if this was helpful to you could you do me a favor? Could you go to our website (greatvacs dot comm) and find your Kirby model and leave a review? We get emails all the time from people who are using the big box Chinese vacuums but is wondering about Kirby. It carries a lot of weight for them to hear about real life reviews from people that use them. Thanks :)
Wish I could share the positive remarks about this vacuum but I have to disagree. I have had this for 9 months and dislike it very much, I can not even sell it. I must break belts every month, it is not rocket science how to change it but for some reason they keep breaking. I do not think this vacuum is worth the cost.
