We got this model (Diamond Edition) back in 2002 or 2003, still going strong in 2019! We usually have 2 vacuums on hand in the house. we have gone through a hoover, Dyson dc07, and Eureka all lived their lives and eventually broke down while the Kirby is still going like new. Yes, they are pricy, but if you think about it, the value really shines through! This is not even taking account of the fact that we are on our second carpet cleaner backup for jobs and the Kirby does an amazing job carpet cleaning. Just wanted to share this. :)
So true!...very well worth the price when figuring up how much they save in the long run and how long they last when taken care of...I used to sell this model, but never could afford one and was always begging for one from my husband...lol...just recently bought a little newer model second hand and he and I restored it today, but the hose and a lot of other attachments are missing because she lost them somewhere in her house...found a diamond in marketplace and we are going to pick it up in a few days so I can have the attachments and have an extra one...
I just found one of these machines on the side of the road, discarded. I’m ordering some bags and watching these videos to prepare for a test run. Pretty excited!
@@BabyfaceGaming101 I found two on the side of the road in my town a few years ago, (which started my collection of Kirby vacuums) a model 513, and a Heritage 84. Oddly enough the 1954 model 513 still runs and performs just as it did when I came off the assembly line, the Heritage 84 needs to be sent to Kirby for a rebuild.
Mom passed away and the 1976 2CB that she bought back then is currently being rebuilt by Kirby for my dad. This Diamond edition is one of my favorite designs and working on getting one for myself. I'm glad to see Kirby still around and hope they keep it up. Newer vacuums might have some convenient advantages but will never clean as well or last as long as a Kirby.
I grew up with this unit. I recently received one of these from a vacuum shop for free as the technician didn't have time to fix the neutral-drive pedal. So I pulled the unit apart in my dad's shop, blew it out with the compressor, washed the bag, sanded the metal from 3000 to 6000 grit, polished with Mothers, replaced the rubber on the head, gave it a general tune up, and fixed that pedal, and now it's better than it was when I was five years old. I reach for this machine more than my Avalir, and even my Dyson that I love.
I've had my Ultimate G Diamond Edition for years, it is the best vacuum cleaner I've ever owned. We have two vacuums, 1 is a bagless which is good for picking up messy stuff (spilling cereal or kitty litter for example), but I notice even if I vacuum the house with it, and go over with the Kirby, the Kirby still picks up dirt, and the carpets even smell cleaner.
Kirby are by far the best vacuum cleaners I've ever used. Nearly indestructible, powerful enough to pick up pretty much anything up to and including incautious pets, and pretty light to use thanks to the driven wheels. Absolutely demolishes any other vacuum I've used in those (for me, most important) criteria. My only complaint is that they're so expensive in the first place, but then you get what you pay for I guess.
Yeah, my family has had one since about 25 years from a door to door sale, and if it was 1000 bucks, that amounts to $40 a year. If 2000 then $80 a year. It saves a lot of money over the years
No real resolution to "problem" but I don't think it is a real problem. I see many videos and threads with Kirby's having exact noise. I read some Tech drive systems of years past are just a little noisier than newer ones. I am very pleased with it. The suction is so powerful it actually separates the carpet from the padding. I can tell because when I walk on it, I hear the plastic backing compressing back down. I have high end carpet and padding as well. This never happened with my other vacs. Kirby's are the only vac I will use for now on. Searching craigslist daily for another to use in upstairs of house. You would be amazed at how cheaply a Kirby made in the last 10 years can be had for on craigslist. So many people buy them, use them for a few years and sell them for pennies to the dollar. Much respect for Kirby for monitoring this channel and responding to posts!

found two Kirby's on the side of the road in our neighborhood...I knew I had to rescue these two historic vacs, took them home....one is a Model 513, and the other is a Heritage 84, the 84 doesn't run but is being restored to run, while the Model 513 runs perfectly. Just ordered a Diamond Edition Ultimate G renewed, can't wait to use it lol
In 1993 I bought a generation 3 While I worked in a fully carpeted tree storie 45 apartments building. This building was behemoth 40x4 feet short pile olive green color with small beige diamond motive carpet hallway. When I told the sales person that I needed it for the building, he said that he did not recommend it because the machine was not build for commercial use, and If I use it for that purpose the warranty would be voided. I went ahead and use my generation for 3 days a week with no problem for around five years. When my wooden roller beauty got too tangled up with hairs and I lost a bit of the rubber that go over the rear plastic wheels, and I thought It needed a bit of looking after, I take it took it for a tune up at my nearest dealer at A&M merchandise in Belleville NJ. Hi colinatlantic, we don't remember for certain, but it is doubtful that it is the same model in all 3 videos. The Ultimate G Series Diamond Edition is the only model with the Normal/Delicate switch. Because it was an upgrade to the original Ultimate G Series model, they both used the same owner video. A short section explaining the Normal/Delicate switch was added to the version of the video packed with the Diamond Edition model.
Hi Stillwander. The vast majority of anything you vacuum up with a Kirby system(including cat litter) will end up in the disposable filter bag. Because the Kirby system is so powerful, it can suck up heavy objects (like a jeweled ring) that other vacuums leave behind. If the object is too heavy to travel up the fill tube into the disposable filter, it will settle into the Mini Emtor where it can be easily retrieved.
Hi Donnie. Numerous, continual improvements have been made to the Kirby system across all models, including the Gsix all the way to the current Sentria II.
As a former sales person, who used to sell this exact model in the early 2000s, I finally talked my husband into buying a second hand Sentria II the other day after the motor in my Eureka burned up on us out of nowhere...I have wanted one since I used to work for you guys back then!...we got it yesterday and he cleaning out the motor for me while I buffed the oxidation out on the aluminum...as soon as we were done, I went straight to vacuuming and shampooing my living room!!! If the day hadn't already gone by, I would have done the whole house because I was so excited to finally have a KIRBY!!! We bought the house about a year and a half ago and have needed to change the carpet out because the tenant the former owner had had animals that destroyed the carpets and even after she shampooed the carpet herself, the living room carpet was still nasty...after vacuuming and shampooing that carpet today, it had new life better than it was when we moved in...maybe if I go over it a few more times, I might be able to put off changing it out for a little longer so we can get more important work done to the house first...
I still remember vividly being a kid in 2003 having a salesperson swindled my father (who already loved staying up late and ordering products from infomercials) for $1200+ The guy was really good at his job he was never rude I guess he could tell my dad was gonna get it from the beginning, but man that vacuum lasted us almost 17 years until my moms new house had no carpet she gave it away to a family member, I really miss it and I don’t even have carpet in my house either lol, I still remember how it sounds, feels and even smells for some reason lol nostalgia is a hell of a drug

+O Glez It sounds like the brush roll isn't spinning because the belt is not on. Check to see if the green light on the top of the nozzle lights up when you turn the unit on. I have an odd question I hope can be answered. I saw on the news a story about a boy with autism who loved vacuums particularly Kirby. Id like a newer model but I will never be able to afford something like this again in my lifetime 😓head on collesion left me disabled and now I hate to say it but I'm a senior!
I've never had that problem are you sure that you aren't stuffing the bag to much? There's a line on it that I know it feels half full but it's for a good reason
@@me4654 On earlier models where the air blows out of the motor casing it was blowing downwards at the floor, on later models they altered it so that the air was blowing upwards.
+Tyler Falcon if you're asking about the paper filter bag shown in this video, it may appear smaller than our current micro allergen filters, but that is because the bags are pleated at the top. Hope that helps!
Hi jhon riadi. We have forwarded your contact information to our customer relations department. They will contact you and help you find a distributor near your location.
What a behemoth! Why would anyone want a vacuum cleaner that is that large and heavy with all those tools and accessories? You'll need a whole nuther room to store it in! I would really hate to live in a two or more story home with that monster and have to carry it up and down steps!
You do not save time using these kirbys there a pain in the ass to move and forget it if you have stairs you gotta be built like a brick shit house to be able to carry it up and down
My mom had a 512, I think. As a small boy I loved the sound, the big, inflated bag, and that headlight! Better than any model train set. You can tell it's a KIRBY just by the sound. I have a G6. If you have a lot of carpet, you need a KIRBY!
It is heavy. You wouldn't was to carry it up and down stairs daily. But if you read the manual and run the equipment properly you will never feel the weight of the machine. The machine powers itself. you don't have to push or pull at all. Raise the brushroll and put the transmission in neutral to move the machine from room to room.
I remember just watching this on VHS randomly after school 🏫 or during the summer since we didn’t have cable

Id like a newer model but I will never be able to afford something like this again in my lifetime 😓head on collesion left me disabled and now I hate to say it but I'm a senior!
How much is Kirby diamond series?
Getting started 3:25
Do you know the background sound at the beginning of the video? I like it! It reminds me of a life insurance commercial.
Does this model have an Improved exhaust system prevents dust from blowing across hard floors or was this only on the diamond edition?
richardc1983 diamond edition on up I think
I've never had that problem are you sure that you aren't stuffing the bag to much? There's a line on it that I know it feels half full but it's for a good reason
@@me4654 On earlier models where the air blows out of the motor casing it was blowing downwards at the floor, on later models they altered it so that the air was blowing upwards.
what year is this from?
My G Dwaine gave me 5 bucks for weed. That made him an Ultimate G
I think its more of a noise like a hydraulic hose would make. More of a whining noise.
Could you do a video of the kirby 509 and 516 please?? Love your videos:-)
No offense but a Kirby is the farthest thing from s I m p l e for a vacuum. I still love em :D
what year did the ultimate G come out
2002-2003
thank you @@againtjugofcocomilk
Kirby can you trade a Sentria I to get the avalir 2
Wow they don't even show you this when you sell them!
Are the bags small or is it the camera?
+Tyler Falcon if you're asking about the paper filter bag shown in this video, it may appear smaller than our current micro allergen filters, but that is because the bags are pleated at the top. Hope that helps!
Thank you!
And Will there be a new model coming out this year?
+It's-a me Megatron The Avalir was _just_ introduced. I doubt they'll release another model until at least 2018
William Kinkade
I wonder if it will still be G model.
I love my Ultimate G Diamond Edition but it would be cool to see what they do next.
It's-a me Megatron. diamond edition was the last g model. after that it went from sentria, sentria 2, and avalir
My grandma had 2 of them when I was young lol
Mine had one lol
my mom bought hers in 1984, ive owned mine since 1994 and still runs as new
Does this version have the same narraitor as the G6 version?
You're correct it is the same narrator! He sounds so familiar though! I wish he was the sentria narrator.
thanks for being helpful..
What music is it by jake
ive had this vacuum for like 13 years now..... shits heavy as fuck
Well I got the VHS tape of this.
i have the g4 vhs
Since when does the regular Ultimate G have a normal-delicate switch?
Hi briansfarm1
Sorry, we don't know the name of the music ... or if it even has a name :)
OK THANKS
If Kirby goes back to before electricity was even an idea how were they powered?
Watch the Flintstones.
Hi jhon riadi. We have forwarded your contact information to our customer relations department. They will contact you and help you find a distributor near your location.
My parents Own this
What a behemoth! Why would anyone want a vacuum cleaner that is that large and heavy with all those tools and accessories? You'll need a whole nuther room to store it in! I would really hate to live in a two or more story home with that monster and have to carry it up and down steps!
I have had this vacuum my whole life, I hate it so much, always been such a pain to maneuver

I have this one since 2004 and it's perfect but a year ago transmission pedal just fell of.
fix it. all parts are available.
Get used to it falling apart!
500th official like!!!!!!!!
kirby keep behind with the flintstones, all other brands keep up with the jetsons!.
flintstone's Kirby has been working since the stone age. The Jetsons spend hundreds each year replacing their throwaway plastic fantastic vacuums.
My ant has that Kirby
...
Buy Dyson! 😅... I have this Kirby and it’s heavy like hell
Rodolfo Ferro Casagrande nah no thanks I’ll keep my kirby
Dyson sucks kirby is always better!
dyson is flimsy
After 3 years, do you still like you Dyson?
noooo!!!! :'(
Aww C k
i thought this was like the pink kirby
You do not save time using these kirbys there a pain in the ass to move and forget it if you have stairs you gotta be built like a brick shit house to be able to carry it up and down
My mom had a 512, I think. As a small boy I loved the sound, the big, inflated bag, and that headlight! Better than any model train set. You can tell it's a KIRBY just by the sound. I have a G6. If you have a lot of carpet, you need a KIRBY!
Scammers. 4000$ for a vacuum
Yeah, four or five thousand bucks is a bit much for a vacuum! I could replace every appliance in my home for that when they have a sale!
Try the older models
super heavy and complicated
Not really
It is heavy. You wouldn't was to carry it up and down stairs daily. But if you read the manual and run the equipment properly you will never feel the weight of the machine. The machine powers itself. you don't have to push or pull at all. Raise the brushroll and put the transmission in neutral to move the machine from room to room.
