My Mom used to make this when I was growing up in the 60’s. She would use a Readers Digest magazine, which once folded she would spray paint it gold, a foam ball for the head, lace (stiffened) for the wings and love from her to all of us. Thank you for sharing your angel.
What a fun project!! Years ago-like maybe 1972 or so-my mother and I made angels with Reader's Digest magazines whitch were a lot like thin, tall paperback books. We used this same fold, spray paintd them gold and used a purchased angel head and wings set on a metal pick that just stuck down into the spine area. Watching this reminded me of that activity and I do miss my mom so very much!! Thank you for bringing back that memory and for planting an idea to do more!!! Cheers from Nashville, Tennessee USA!
Wow! amazing angel!! I use ribbon to join the pages, just tied around the middle, and I remove the cover with a stanley knife or a rotary cutter or a pair of scissors, and I remove the cover before I start to fold!
OHHH Amanda, she is beautiful,I so love angels, and this one is a perfect shabby chic one,I need some feathers lol I have got to have a try at this one,Thanks for sharing, hugs,Elaine xx
ha ha ha ha I see your working your way through the book folding vids ... they are great fun and turn into awesome projects !!! feathers in the Zibbet lol lol lol xx
+Peggy Bines thats fantastic peggy !!! the patterns are easily available but I learn by watching so thats why I thought I would do the vid to help others Im absolutely chuffed to bits you made one . Im going to do a tree too i want to do one each for my older children for in their homes at christmas ... I have another chirstmas one planned that is super easy too so keep your eyes open then you can do that one too :) hugs xx Amanda
This is absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm going to have to give it a go!! Thank you so much for sharing!! I have way too many paperbacks sitting around. I may even tea stain it first and let it dry for a couple days!! Oh so many ideas!!😀😘🤗
I have made dolls like this out of a thick phone book. I put satin around the base for the dress then lace all around. It took longer to fold the pages then to make the dress lol. But they came out beautiful.
+Deborah O'Brienn If you try Facebook there is a group called Newbie book folding Pattern designers and folders and they have free patterns in the files over there they will have the candle one hun xx
this absolutely what I know I can do...where are you getting the wings from? Is there a pattern available? Hope I am not too late for an answer...that I the only thing I can't do with out an answer..thanks you...looking forward to an answer...got the books so I will fold in hopes I can have an angel instead of a tree.
+Pamela Oxendine I sold the wings in the shop but it was at christmas time Pamela they were a christmas tree decoration ... don't have any now :( ... you could easily make some from card stock cover in glitter or lace :) xx
the original wings were a bit small so they looked out of proportion hence why I extended them with the feathers ...always a method in my madness ha ha ha thanks for watching , hugs x Amanda
The lighting was terrible.. I liked the angel but would have chosen to paint the book white and done something to the head .. but I’ll make my choice between rustic or shabby chic..
if you painted the book the pages would go soggy honey ... appologies for the poor lighting im just a simple crafter in my crft room same as everyone else doing my best... thanks so much for watching ;)

Very pretty but I think feathers unnecessary on those lovely wings, why gild the lily as they say.
