As a Kung fu practitioner myself, i support everything that has been spoken out of Mr Xu's belief. 3 things I admire from this man is courage, honesty and belief. He is atleast going out there and doing what a 'true' martial artist is doing and that is chasing his ultimate goals, putting his training skills to the test to see if it's useful and effective in a fight to prove a point in society to not be fooled by a teachers past fairy tale stories . Atleast Mr Xu Xiaodong is going out there accepting challenges and not caring about winning or losing which is a mindset we kung fu practitioners have lost. We should be praising his heroic stupidity for having so much guts to defy against our old ways of tradition even though he was arrogant with his approach in insults. We Kung fu people are the real losers for not standing up for our ancestors and have all lost the true meaning of ' 武 '. Why are all of you Kung fu people having hatred on him when he is literally doing all of us a big favour ? He is eliminating the frauds and stopping these so called ' masters ' from making easy money from normal citizen and feeding lies for a living. I have to admit that our Kung fu society does have a very dark side that mr xu pointed out but many people are too ignorant to question the teachers on how application works in reality and that is why I've always been defensive when it comes to finding certain Kung fu Sifus and making sure they have a past fighting background otherwise wtf am I learning Kung fu for? I'm not only learning for health benefits but I am also learning so I can beat someone up as quick as I can and not waste time doing fancy stuff. I am disappointed how weak our Chinese art has come into society now and it's even more shameful for the wushu federation blocking mr xu's belief and not letting other martial artists ( with Kung fu and tai chi background ) to challenge him. You've have all lost your old ways of the real martial ways and have all turned into money making companies branching your schools out like a McDonald franchise. The chen Jia tai chi family should also be ashamed for not standing up for themselves to prove him wrong but in fact, you all go make up some stupid excuse and also using the government to help back you all up. This is karma to the chen family and I believe it's their own ancestors that's bringing karma to their own family village for marketing the style and turning it into a money making buisness. I am sure we are all fed up with fraudulent teachers giving our styles a bad name so I suggest to you all wether you're mma or Kung fu practitioner to be more opened and support Mr Xu Xiadong. I will support Kung fu no matter what but I can never hate this man for being so honest that it made me angry inside because he is right and had everything to back himself up in an argument. Be glad Xu Xiaodong has woken all of us up from that tai chi defeat video, he really made all of us question ourselves if what we are learning is useful and we shouldn't be hating him for pointing out our mistakes but to also learn from it. If we martial artist can't absorb and accept his criticism then why call ourselves a martial artist in the first place if u can't even handle verbal abuse? Less talk and more action. So many Kung fu practices nowadays are all relying on sanshou/sanda boxing to back up their style which is so true because the real applications are either buried with the old masters or the students ( who are teachers now ) did not learn properly or paid close attention to the discipline of their Sifus training. Most famous people usually stands alone to make history and we Kung fu people have given him that reputation because none of us are willing to stand up against what he is doing but have basically let him beat us in his own game. He is smart and used reverse psychology to create a big martial mess to bring out the real masters out.
1991 Liondancer me too practice kungfu and I support Xu XiaoDong beating up corrupted kungfu masters. Problem with kungfu nowadays, corrupted instructors/masters changed the syllabus for quick money, lazy to train, safeguard their own pride by removing fighting syllabus. Original taichi was dynamic kungfu fighting technique combining soft and hard striking, grappling to attack opponent. Some idiots changed it to all slow motion posing art
Jay Son Wong I agree my friend. All of them are blinded by wealth to not see the downfall of their arts becoming a humiliation. Let these fools get beat up as a lesson that the world is much bigger then they assume.
Jay Son Wong I guarantee you 100% there's a lot of conspiracy against xu xiaodong from the government and buisnessman in china, they simply will not get their hands dirty and have the money to have someone else do the enforcing, so who will do it? The triads ofcourse 😏. The world is dirty
1991 Liondancer I am Hainanese and I am kungfu practitioner personally. I can assured you that there is no conspiracy or threat at all. If there is threat or triad, Xu XiaoDong would have been beaten up and hospitalized already with broken jaw. The government doesn't care a damn about kungfu even if it's going extinct. Those who control kungfu organizations management today are bunch of lazies with bellies or fat slabs that lazy to train kungfu but care only about making money with McDojo. If these McDojo has no good students that can beat Xu XiaoDong, they'll import MMA or MuayThai fighters to pretend as kungfu practitioners to fight Xu XiaoDong. I'm with the original kungfu hardliners that are no longer exist today. Only gangsters and nerds that always get bullied like will go trial and error with kungfu moves trying to hit something with accuracy and find out how to apply the moves. Newline kungfu group mostly don't bother to train fighting, won't even train with me unless I pay them. The only training I can get is to wait for bullies to get into my trap where i can beat up to gain fighting experience. Before I get expelled, I used to try the moves on my masters imported fighters that represent his school in Sanda competition. Kungfu students either not interested or too afraid to go free sparring
They simply would not do it right away ofcourse, everything comes with warnings and I am positive they would threaten mr xu behind the cameras and away from the public to gain further support with his rally. The triads arent called a ' secret society ' for no reason . I can respect if you disagree if my words don't sooth your thoughts. This is what I believe in my perspective since it connects up with what I research to my knowledges understanding
Xu xiaodong did not disrespect Taichi, he only disrespected people who claim to be masters and can knock out others by pushing Qi out of their body like a Jedi... so Xu best his ass! And proved him wrong.
Excellent interview! As a practitioner of Chinese Gung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA I think this was a healthy conversation. Thank you for creating the space for this to happen and then sharing it. Much respect to all those involved.
The important thing is to get the traditional school of thought to reflect on itself. If you bring in the modern, then they simply inform the traditional on what to switch to, and then you lose the history. MMA already made its point known with the victory, you simply need to let the tradition learn from the lesson, or else you'll smother them with repetitive teaching.
SwordTune bruce lee made the same points as modern mma. MMA made its point again in the 90s in the early UFCs. The traditional community is still churning out masters that dont know how to fight and teaching impressionable people fake stuff that could get them killed if they try to defend themselves. Why do they even call it 'martial' art when they clearly have stripped it of its martial applications?
I tired of the " in real combat" argument. MMA always used for combat so it's been proven endlessly. Tai Chi is never used in combat tournaments so where is the evidence of its applicability ? All speculation, the proof is an actual application , which doesn't exist.
Jack Sprat what did that prove? That if you throw a hard right hook it could hurt someone? He basically had to stop trying to use chi to do anything that was effective.
real fights normally do not have rules nor flares, but subtly the foundations gained from training might become handy only in certain situations. Just my 2cents :)
actually what hold chiness matrial arts back are the modernization in my opinion. why? modern chinese martial arts are now less sparring in this peaceful days. more to tao lu practices rather than applications and foundations
Taijiquan (太極拳) is a very effective fighting style if one knows how to train in it. Taiji is usually seen practiced slowly, gracefully and dance like. This is great for health, healing and coordination training. The "forms", or "routines" (套路) as practiced by Chinese martial artists have a VERY practical purpose. No one will do flashy, flowery movements, or set patterns like the Beijing wushu team in a real fight. Those routines, however flashy, have practical applications in them. The soft, slow routines of Taijiquan have applications hidden in them. When done quickly, they can be deadly. One can break down any Chen, or Yang taiji routine and find in it many grapples, punches, blocks and kicks. Chinese boxing routines are designed to teach coordination, speed, balance and power. Push hands is a sensitivity exercise done with a partner. That, along with routines training and non-contact sparring were devised as means of training without killing yourself, or your training partner. A traditional Chinese kungfu master will watch a student to see if the student is ready for more advanced training. The very term "kungfu" (gongfu/功夫), meaning effort, time, training, etc. is colloquially used in parts of southern China to mean "martial arts". Kungfu is a term used to discourage all but the most die hard from even thinking about taking it up. It was not meant for the short attention span. MMA, Greco/Roman style wrestling, Marquess of Queensbury style boxing focus on sparring at a much earlier stage in training than traditional Chinese martial arts. When you put a practitioner of MMA, or a Western fighting system against a "kungfu" master who has little or no understanding of what he is doing, naturally the Western style practitioner is going to mop up the floor with him.
Patrick Ramsey its not effective at all from what ive seen. Do you have an example of working taijiquan vs fighters? Its quite deceiving and disgusting that they use the word 'martial' when its not martial. A novice boxer would easily beat these masters. Its actually quite strange how they talk about people using taiji to survive. How naive do you have to be to think people in the past were doing this form of taichi rather than something very practical which if existed is clearly lost.
oh this video is fake asf. besides, no martial art master would willingly give up a fight to make a nobody look good, would lose all credibility if they did. Xu Xiaodong beat them fair and square
I recognize the benefits of Taiji and its martial applications. Everyone saying MMA beat Taiji lol it's not the man in the fight (style of martial art) it's the fight in the man. There have been full contact tournaments and brawls where Taiji has proven its effective. Look up Dan Docherty, or Wang shu jin. Though I think there is a lot of nonsense in TCM (unproven teachers) and I think this will shake the traditionalists, which is much needed. Blind obedience, paying in little red envelopes for the hope of internal secrets. Martial art, internal or external is hard work. And it has to be tested if it wants to be taaken seriously, not just in friendly push hands or San shao, or demonstrations. Good for the Tai chi man stepping up to defending its honour. Now he'd better start practicing how to deal with boxing, because it didn't look like he has much experience? We're all students of our individual journey. And learning is to fail.
Yusuf Al Haddad The matter is that hardly seems fairly competes like Judo vs Mma , unless it's hard Chi Goong . TaiChi more of healing , the frequent energy flows in body for meditating than present as in combat .In some environment scenes maybe like near the cliff possibly troubling the MMA fighters much .lol
Yusuf Al Haddad Just my personal view , different martial , different techniques not comparing the which style, system stronger , it has to meet many overall scale but as commonly & most basic compares how the martial artist has acquired the method , & greatly performed the skills shown effectiveness rather than which style stronger or better . They are unique in their own way even isometric very useful in the combat aspects.
Indeed, i see your point, than again, the so called MMA is short for mixed martial arts, the style the fighter used to defeat the ''self proclaimed master'' is calld ''vale tudo'' all valid, it's submition by punches in the head, brutality, the most crude form of hand combat, so an artist of combat should be able to subdue the beast comming at him with gracious moves.
The basic Taoist philosophy of Wu Wei can be expressed by constant practice and adaption to the reality of the situation. Pretending that generations of non-combatants have kept the martial applications of the original innovators who were willing to experiment and practice and adapt new understandings and apply those principles in no-bullshit life and death situations on the battlefield is pretty insulting. It seems like "modernizing" traditional martial arts is actually reintroducing lost principles.
tai chi, kung fu and other stuff are not designed for real close combat fighting people should already understand that, some says its for health and it helps for motivation , relaxation and other health benefits and not for blood hunger sport like MMA.
The issue with this whole situation is simple really, and being largely ignored. MMA is MIXED Martial Arts. That gives the practitioners a greater range of skills and reaction methods when compared to practitioners of a single style.
seedFan85 Your statement is spot on. Also, one thing that was not discussed in this video is that MMA event is a combat sport and the goal of an MMA fighter is to defeat his/her opponent in a contest. It shouldn't come as a surprise if a martial arts practitioner don't train for combat ends in defeat. Solo practice such as in Tai Chi may have health and spiritual benefits, however, those benefits don't necessarily translate the Tai Chi practitioner to be a good fighter.
to hell with all the politics going around. Many people just talk and no action. It is just a fight and Tai chi is not a bad Martial arts. It is the practitioner who made a mistake in the fight that cause him to loose. If the whole Tai chi society is mad , then send another guy to fight the MMA fighter
Some Tai chi styles spar with push hands like Yang Style Taijiquan and Chen Style Taijiquan and Wu Style taijiquan. The other 3 family styles I don't know.
The tai chi "master" who was beaten was not a master. Xu Xiaodong only fights older and out of shape opponents. Having said that, tai chi is not good for fighting but great for health. The quickest way to learn to fight is to train something like boxing, muay thai, BJJ, or wing chun.
Traditional Chinese Martial Arts didnt get opportunity to evolve. Everything Traditional needs to evolve over time. With the advent of modern science, industrialization and the new administration the chinese wiped away everything, their tradition , culture, beliefs and the kungfu. Now they have forgotten where they were when they stopped believing in kungfu. They are just lost. They didnt give KungFu a proper respect to prosper and evolve through modern times. All these masters are full of shit. They are either fullfilling the vacant post or maybe struggling to find their lost path. Just going through old textbooks isnt going to help. They need true masters who kept faith in it and respected KungFu to foster through hard times.
Chinese martial artists need to break away from kata/form focused training ... they gota teach the same moves in simple ways from ready fighting stance ... and engage in actual sparring ... real fighting ... no pulling punches ... thats all they need ... exposure to actual fighting and gradually these atyles will develop their fighting capacity ... most kungfu styles shield practioners from pain n injury by not allowing fighting ... which is bad ... xposure combat will evolve the practoners ...
Muhammed Ali every time they spar, their fighting style turns into sloppy boxing and kickboxing. Thats one reason why i think they dont spar. It stops being what they practice and shows what theyre practicing is impractical.
we only believe what we see so stop talking and prove to us that kung fu or Tai chi is a real deal,a real martial art, not just some bullshit thing we do just for show.
What are you talking about?? The problem is martial arts are already modernized beyond recognition. Martial arts are evolved from an age where it's a life and death skill. We don't have the environment today that nurtured those arts of the past. No matter what we do today, everything will be fake if you use the yardstick of the past to compare, The only rules then are who dies and who lives. Today, our martial arts are constrained by rules and used for sport, MMA including. MMA is also a fake martial art if you follow Xu Xiaodong's own logic.
I like this video and I like the representatives from the Chinese Martial Arts community; they speak clearly and are leveled headed. However, I disagree with them on the basis that the martial arts at its core should be for self defense, self improvement, and personal development. I practice Japanese Karate as a hobby but nonetheless I watch mma, tae kwon do, boxing, wrestling, and Brazilian Jiu Jutsu for the sake of comparing and contrasting my practice. Or possibly rediscovering what the old masters; Kenwa Mabuni, Gichin Funakoshi, or Chochun Miyagi discovered. Whether or not CMA, or any traditional martial arts techniques, are applicable can proven in FRIENDLY competition; that is up to the practitioners. But for those who say that real CMA would kill someone and would not work in competition; to me this sounds like an excuse. For if you want to learn how to kill someone become a soldier. If you want to challenge yourself, learn to defend yourself become a martial artist. If you see Taolu, kata, poomsae as a waste of time and simply dance move then go to a dance hall. What goals are you pursuing in martial arts??? Friendly competition is about testing yourself without hurting others or you getting injured. Techniques used in competition can do serious damage; we just realize because we wear protective equipment so that we reduce the risk or injury and so that we can fight longer. To conclude, my point is that Traditional Martial Arts will earn respect unless it's practitioners are willing to challenge themselves. A good example is Tony Ferguson who recently won in a UFC title fight using Wing Chun techniques in an mma competition. But he did so in combination to his unique style of martial arts. Likewise, the infamous Connor McGregor whose background is in Tae Kwon Do, but uses principles of counter striking from Japanese Karate. Or the Wonderboy whose background is Japanese Karate. Rhonda Rousey whose meteoric rise in the UFC was based on Judo and boxing (in my book these are both TMA). So it can be done.
Talk is cheap. If Tai Chi is effective, and you're a Tai Chi master, then prove it. Otherwise STFU. If that guy in the studio thinks that fight was a fluke then challenge that MMA guy and prove it. This is not complicated.
If Xu is genuinely interested in seeing can Tai Chi work he should challenge someone under 45 who has been multiple national champion of China in push hands and is a lineage holder. Then no one can refute it if he wins.A good match up weight wise and someone with real skill would be Wang Hai Jun. Im a fan of MMA and traditional arts and would buy that pay per view any day.
Two guys fight and two cultures collide. But to the point. Martial arts is martial arts and thus main and only purpose is combat. You want health and mental balance? Yoga and fitness is more efficient.
Lol why are they quoting jack ma, who is a nobody in the martial arts world? martial arts is used to defend oneself, tats the essence of martial arts. and clearly taichi needs to evolve in order to counter all the other practical martial arts.
I practice Tai Chi, kickboxing, karate and judo. If someone challenges me to a fight to share with the world, there’d better be at least $100,000 dollars deposited in my bank account. Otherwise, if it’s not a self defense situation, then who cares? If someone attacks me, I would use all of my martial arts skills and wrestling and American football and a touch of crazy.
Just stop saying you're art is deadly, it's not it's meditative and has a lot of great pros but stop lying to us and stop acting y'all can fight, as of right now and mma Amateur can fucked up you're dudes.
Tai Chi is a business, this man will not fight, no skills, wanna bet? he have a million reasons not to fight his own size to prove the traditional is still efficient in this era.
Tai Chi just need more street fighting practice, MMA is build for street fight. Chinese lost many battle, but when is the last time we lose a war? We always get to where we plan to go eventually.
idont know why everyone is tripping about, mma means mixed martial arts so thats karate, kungfu taekwondo, etc what is china or the east have to be ashamed of the guy who won, beat the other guy with martial arts, which comes from were? lol
Abdali Silva Bruce Lee was an actor. Real fights isn't so chance based. There's difference of skill and power, techinque and size. Just watch the UFC 1-10 and you'll see Royce BJJ choke out karate, Boxing, Wrestlers, Kempo, Kung Fu fighters.
I have practiced Kung fu and it is very hard to learn and most times it puts beauty over true fighting skill.I do believe that mma is fat better and more practical for fighting.
Wow, what a shocker, knowing multiple styles and using them all together is better than only knowing one style?!!! Wow the mind is blown................
so you were not good enough for kung fu. only hard and smart training gives you true fighting skill. kung fu works for me and is far better and healthier than mma.
Nije problem sto je tai chi borac izgubio, svako moze da izgubi u borbi. Problem njegove reputacije ,,majstora,, je sto nije primenio ni jedan tai chi princip nego je pokusao da boksuje.
I like the host of this program, and in fact, other interviewers and hosts I have watched who I think are all from Beijing. They sound objective, positively critical, and undefensive.
Anyone who thinks Tai Chi is a full on aggresive martial art has no clue what they're talking about. Tai Chi is more of a balanced art focusing on meditative stances and physical balance/stability etc.. Just like Jack Ma in the video quoted "Tai Chi was not born for combat, but MMA is"
Why make an issue out of the fight? This is pathetic. I watched the fight it was ok. The Tai Chi fighter defended well against the MMA fighter's punches, until he ran out of space and got taken to the ground. From there you gotta admit that Tai Chi doesn't have any ground techniques and so he lost. They are two different fighting styles. A rematch would yield the same result. You just have to admit that MMA works better in a one on one fight. HOWEVER if there are multiple attackers you don't have time to take them to the ground one by one, and in that case Tai Chi works better.
You must be joking. Saw the fight, if you could call it that. The tai chi master looked like an overgrown teapot. You don't dance in like a ballet dancer when the guy in front of you throws a haymaker. The tai chi master is so blind to putting style over substance that he forgot the one rule of a street fight: PROTECT YOUR HEAD!!! Western boxing champs know that from day one and that is why they never put their fists down!!
defend well? lmai those weak arm did even defend the head, did taichi teach that? 'hey if you get punch in the face just lie down and put your hand down' wtf those called "master" if fuckig clown that get owned by mma coach, heck the mma guy didnt even branding him self as "master"
this is a good thing that ,hope if there is any real master will come out and show real skills ,also Chinese master for 100s of year lie. and keeping the real secret of the art with them. in this way killing the essence of Chinese martial arts ,they need to stop tricking people and star teaching what the real way. or the art will die for ever stop being selfish or your culture and art will die .
Hot air alert. summary. 1.traditional martial cannot fight unless they modernise the training. 2. Sanda which combine all style work better in fight. so essentially traditional martial art can't fight. traditional martial art is a way of thinking. ......
tai chi and street fight at different ,maybe he fight with the wrong master ,there are 2 kind of tai chi , one is just for performing and exercise only , and other tai chi which are hardly see in the public which are relate to the one wing Chun = TAI CHI those are the real fighter which Bruce Lee learn from. ,and also don't blame everything on the government which had nothing to do with this fight ok . Chinese kung Fu they are a lot of different style of KUNG FU , KUNG FU for performing for the art of beauty to fight to look good only , and the other real Fung Fu are like TAI CHI = WING CHUN those are real FUNG FU , this video this boy fighting with a performer TAICHI old man that's why he can't fight kkkk, a lot of people go confuse with the real KUNG FU and PERFORMER FUNG FU KKK I make this real clear .,if you real want to see the real KUNG FU , just try the WING CHUN -TAI CHI KUNG FU then you will see the different ok. don't get mix up the two FUNG FU - one is for performing to look good only during fighting which can't really fight at all ,is for exercise and benefit for health only , just like this old man can't fight in real life kkk
The Ultimate-Fist is so powerful, a real practitioner could kill another person with the slightest touch...these Masters are hidden away in the secret caves of Wudang mountain.
I've studied taichi on wudang mountain. Stayed there for a while. I don't think this is true. My own impression is that a combination of ego and patriotism has made taichi rigid and therefore brittle. It needs to adapt and modernise.
Wei Lei a failure of top tier Tai Chi Masters. If real Tai Chi wanna regain faith they need to excommunicate and disown Wei Lei and Yang style Tai Chi.
Tai chi is for health and longevity... at 40 years old the MMA fighter will be broken, not by an opponent but by his own lifestyle, while at 40 years old the taichi master is still young
Badminton is a nice sport but very fast, you can easily injure yourself, taichi slow and beautiful movement are perfect for maintaining the body healthy until old age...
Jean-Yves Woestyn The Mma fighter is 38, only four years younger than the tai chi practicioner. He doesn't look broken at all. In fact, fit and healthy.
This is a false proposal. Martial arts have been banned by the government for combat. This is the policy of PRC. It is not modernization because back in ancient times, people could find jobs related to martial arts, therefore being good at combat can make you money. But today, you can't find such jobs. You can't just join the police or the military simply because you know Kongfu. And it's not in commercial competition or the Olympic. If you want to bring back martial arts, you need to stop shaping it like a performance and over-exaggerating philosophies.
Let Xu xiadong speak on cctv openly without any restriction. The Chinese people have the right to free their minds.
No they don't!

It's called stacked panel, you get to have an oponion in China, long as it's the "right" one
All speculation, the proof is an actual application , which doesn't exist.
bluwng here it is
th-cam.com/video/3DL4kaox2ZY/w-d-xo.html
Jack Sprat what did that prove? That if you throw a hard right hook it could hurt someone? He basically had to stop trying to use chi to do anything that was effective.
real fights normally do not have rules nor flares, but subtly the foundations gained from training might become handy only in certain situations. Just my 2cents :)
actually what hold chiness matrial arts back are the modernization in my opinion. why?
modern chinese martial arts are now less sparring in this peaceful days. more to tao lu practices rather than applications and foundations
XianWangTheo what are martrial arts ?
@@lastword8783 yes i do
Dr Feelbad cool story bro
@@lastword8783 thanks
Ahhhh, the good old "my technique is too deadly to actually use" excuse.
SkepticalAaron if there was no rules Xu would be in jail
Xu would be killed by a slow punch from mma guy
@@josephnorton6859 I agree 💯💯💯💯
oh this video is fake asf. besides, no martial art master would willingly give up a fight to make a nobody look good, would lose all credibility if they did. Xu Xiaodong beat them fair and square
Tai Chi is a dance a nice dance but not anything for self defense
if you train tai chi for fighting then you will be able to fight , if you are lazy and practice only the soft , then no .
Ip Man defended Wing Chun, get a master willing to defend Tai Chi! re-match!
Brazilian jiu Jitsu already proven to be stronger than MMA, Kung Fu is much stronger than MMA.
Yusuf Al Haddad Bjj sure are kind of tactically strong & effective.
Tai chi is for movie not for real fight
Bruce Lee is not the father of MMA, people need to shut up with that
The issue with this whole situation is simple really, and being largely ignored. MMA is MIXED Martial Arts. That gives the practitioners a greater range of skills and reaction methods when compared to practitioners of a single style.
seedFan85
Your statement is spot on. Also, one thing that was not discussed in this video is that MMA event is a combat sport and the goal of an MMA fighter is to defeat his/her opponent in a contest. It shouldn't come as a surprise if a martial arts practitioner don't train for combat ends in defeat. Solo practice such as in Tai Chi may have health and spiritual benefits, however, those benefits don't necessarily translate the Tai Chi practitioner to be a good fighter.
if you put the greatest tai chi master vs an ameture mma fighter, the mma guy would still drstroy the tai chi "master"
Jonathan Torres not at all you idiot
It happened, 4th Gen tachi chi guy blood line going back to Ip Man, got demolished by a guy with 1 hand litterly tied to his back.
@@MrRinoHunter no it didn't
to hell with all the politics going around. Many people just talk and no action. It is just a fight and Tai chi is not a bad Martial arts. It is the practitioner who made a mistake in the fight that cause him to loose. If the whole Tai chi society is mad , then send another guy to fight the MMA fighter
you practice decades and lose within 10seconds, something fishy
john bagyan yes proves he was fake
I've said it once and I'll say it again. You can defeat any martial artist with boxing.
Emma Frost depends on the art and the fighter. A boxer would have a hard time with a wrestler, muay thai, jiu jitsu or judo fighter of equal skill.
That's not true
Dr Feelbad It is true.
@@missxmarvel its possible depending on the person. But a good fighter in martial arts v a good boxer, the martial artist will win
Dr Feelbad I’ve seen videos where martial artists challenge boxers and got their ass handed to them.
Just because it "works" in a movie don't mean it will work in a Real Fight
Juanydd true but it does work
Some Tai chi styles spar with push hands like Yang Style Taijiquan and Chen Style Taijiquan and Wu Style taijiquan. The other 3 family styles I don't know.
Bla bla bla bla bla - like that chinese MMA fighter said - form without substance. Reality is the field to measure any idea.
Chinese people are just too proud to admit that tai chi is lacking in real combat abilities
Sixsmith Lee mma is just a sport, entertainment
Y Ad mma is sport
I don't think he was saying that. It seemed to me he was saying that taichi needed to learn from this and adapt.
JASPER DJUHAR no it's proved itself many times. MMA isn't the only place to fight
Tao of Jeet Kune Do is a really good book
kyokushins masatatsu oyama use to say to trust a style you need proof and some full contact fighting systems have knockdown systems
5:57 I BET YOU DON'T!!! 😂😂😂
Tai Chi just need more street fighting practice, MMA is build for street fight. Chinese lost many battle, but when is the last time we lose a war? We always get to where we plan to go eventually.
Mount Hua Studios mma is a sport, far from a street fight. Don't speak if you know little
Why hasn’t Xu ever fought against karate? Food for thought.
idont know why everyone is tripping about, mma means mixed martial arts so thats karate, kungfu taekwondo, etc what is china or the east have to be ashamed of the guy who won, beat the other guy with martial arts, which comes from were? lol
SMASHERGRILLA "where"
I believe Bruce Lee, explain on how a real fight is much different and anyone can loose or win a fight
Abdali Silva your an idiot
You are stupid
Dumb fuck
Abdali Silva Bruce Lee was an actor. Real fights isn't so chance based. There's difference of skill and power, techinque and size. Just watch the UFC 1-10 and you'll see Royce BJJ choke out karate, Boxing, Wrestlers, Kempo, Kung Fu fighters.
Abdali Silva I don't know why your so mad. Reality sucks I know.
Lmao at the beginning. Why do they need the music? Its clearly a dance.
The mma guy would beat the hell out of these 2 fake tai chi masters, the annoying man women host and the entire camera crew at the same time
Nije problem sto je tai chi borac izgubio, svako moze da izgubi u borbi. Problem njegove reputacije ,,majstora,, je sto nije primenio ni jedan tai chi princip nego je pokusao da boksuje.
If y'all want the combat go into the ring, but y'all know black belt bjjs are gonna win all the time
how about 75 years old MMA master
with 75 years old Tai Chi master.
kuku kaka as long as both are healthy for 75, mma master wins
I like the host of this program, and in fact, other interviewers and hosts I have watched who I think are all from Beijing.
They sound objective, positively critical, and undefensive.
All Chinese martial arts are quickly to defend themselves for the sake of not losing business
Anyone who thinks Tai Chi is a full on aggresive martial art has no clue what they're talking about. Tai Chi is more of a balanced art focusing on meditative stances and physical balance/stability etc.. Just like Jack Ma in the video quoted "Tai Chi was not born for combat, but MMA is"
TheScaleless if your words are no better than silence then why speak at all
Taijiquan, the best of all Martial Arts
tai chi looks like dance
pakistan vs india no Taichi is meditation not a fighting style
That's the form Tao Chuan. You don't fight like that haha
Western boxing champs know that from day one and that is why they never put their fists down!!
tai chi has joint locks. the fake master could use it, but he doesnt because he is a fake.
chen style tai chi is for combat. he is a yang tai chi user. so he only knows breath exercice.
defend well? lmai those weak arm did even defend the head, did taichi teach that? 'hey if you get punch in the face just lie down and put your hand down' wtf those called "master" if fuckig clown that get owned by mma coach, heck the mma guy didnt even branding him self as "master"
They're butt hurt
this is a good thing that ,hope if there is any real master will come out and show real skills ,also Chinese master for 100s of year lie. and keeping the real secret of the art with them. in this way killing the essence of Chinese martial arts ,they need to stop tricking people and star teaching what the real way. or the art will die for ever stop being selfish or your culture and art will die .
Hot air alert. summary. 1.traditional martial cannot fight unless they modernise the training.
2. Sanda which combine all style work better in fight.
so essentially traditional martial art can't fight. traditional martial art is a way of thinking. ......
A lot of head shaking here, I get a headache watching it, lol
tai chi and street fight at different ,maybe he fight with the wrong master ,there are 2 kind of tai chi , one is just for performing and exercise only , and other tai chi which are hardly see in the public which are relate to the one wing Chun = TAI CHI those are the real fighter which Bruce Lee learn from. ,and also don't blame everything on the government which had nothing to do with this fight ok . Chinese kung Fu they are a lot of different style of KUNG FU , KUNG FU for performing for the art of beauty to fight to look good only , and the other real Fung Fu are like TAI CHI = WING CHUN those are real FUNG FU , this video this boy fighting with a performer TAICHI old man that's why he can't fight kkkk, a lot of people go confuse with the real KUNG FU and PERFORMER FUNG FU KKK
I make this real clear .,if you real want to see the real KUNG FU , just try the WING CHUN -TAI CHI KUNG FU then you will see the different ok. don't get mix up the two FUNG FU - one is for performing to look good only during fighting which can't really fight at all ,is for exercise and benefit for health only , just like this old man can't fight in real life kkk
It needs to adapt and modernise.
ip man movies are the real story of ip man first u know
A pretty balanced discussion.
Jean-Yves Woestyn you can play badminton for health
Badminton is a nice sport but very fast, you can easily injure yourself, taichi slow and beautiful movement are perfect for maintaining the body healthy until old age...
Jean-Yves Woestyn The Mma fighter is 38, only four years younger than the tai chi practicioner. He doesn't look broken at all. In fact, fit and healthy.
One name. Randy Couture.
I guess that's why he got recked isn't it
Two Masters of Nothing
Discuss to narrate fake again. Taichi might be good for pampering woman.
Well Tai Chi got its ass punked. That's the only reality here. If you wanna prove the effectivity of your art, then less QQ more pew pew.
