I'm paying 60 dollars for a game and right out the gate you're hitting me with a whole bunch of DLC. Things that would make a 3 and half hour game a little bit more worth the purchase you charge me extra for after I pay the initial cost. Destiny was even worse. *As I'm picking up the game* they're telling me, "You can get the DLC coming out in a month at reduced price if you pay now." One, that means that content is already completed and you cut it out to charge me later; and two, gee thanks, soooo magnanimous of you to give me a discount on something that should be IN THE FUCKING GAME ALREADY! These people are scamming you. And the attitude of many seems to be it's no big deal. I will not support this absolute fuckery in any way shape or form. Thanks, I'll wait until it cost a fiver after laying in a bargain bin somewhere for a while. I will rip, torrent and download your shit Mr. Developer if you want to treat me like a complete fool and I will have no qualms about doing so.

I haven't purchased the game for the reasons I mentioned in my earlier post. I just assumed it was 60. The price being that high reinforces my original point even more so.
Rudyard Pue I remember the good ole days when developers put all this stuff in the game as unlockables for doing awesome shit. But now? "GIVE US YOUR FUCKING MONEY, YOU GAMING PEASENTS!!" I swear, about the only developers worth a damn anymore are Bethesda and ESPECIALLY Rockstar. At least RS releases everything on GTAV for FREE. Yeah, Bethesda released DLC for Skyrim, but JESUS the amount of content in Skyrim was already massive!

I think it was worth the money especially dawn guard which was not only badass but also let your play it again from the other side for even more replay ability! I don't mind dlc, hell I love it. As long as it is A. ACTUALLY GOOD and B. Not thrown at you within a few months of release as bullshit content that should already be in the game. Also, I love bioware to They make great games and I know ME3 multiplayer had micro transactions but they didn't shove it in your face or demand you pay for stuff. plus it was actually good dlc. A fair price to play as a completely knew class and stuff!

I honestly expected like a 6/7 honestly but I'm down with an 8. It's a good game just feels like something is missing. The net code is really bad aswell and the PC launch was absolutely terrible.

They're using an updated mk9 net code. They should probably be jumping on a brand new net code tbh like Street fighter 5 have. However as Scubbasan said. If you're thinking of buying this game on PC for online then rethink your buy option

I'm really disappointed by the story, for exactly the same points you pointed, the weakest and newest characters of the universe are literally beating the crap out of every guy. It's a shame because I really loved the story mode they put in mk9, a shame really ...
Scyths1 yeh its weird playing as kotal kahn (emperor of outworld) and decking folk like kano, mileena and rain, just for kotal to get his ass kicked countless times afterwards by the new starts. The biggest fail was the MAIN BAD GUY corrupted shinnok getting his ass handed to him after 1 minute by cassie cage.
Jimmy Burt Gaming I like to think that the green aura-thing is the same power that Shao Kahn has, that this crazy hollywood guy somehow has the same power that made Shao Kahn the emperor of outworld...and then in the end of the story Cassie ends up having it too, so it's genetic, what kind of misterious past Johnny. It really adds to the story. Not that I have any basis for it though
Henrique de Carvalho i liked johnny being OP in this game, its great seeing him finally get some recognition. Its just insulting that a rookie character like cassie easily dominates some of the most powerful characters, whether it makes sense lore-wise or not.

Scyths1 The story was not too bad... but the CONSISTENCY of the fighters was atrocious... especially at the end, when Jackie Briggs and Cassie Cage kick the ass of people who would normally wipe their asses with them.

I woul understand if for example Raiden has done something to weaken Shinnok first, then yeah I would understand... but no... it makes no sense.

munky342 Only reason I don't consider the bug and glitch fixes a great thing (although additional content is cool), is that back in the day, developers HAD to release the product fully working. Nowadays they crutch on the fact that they can do updates, that they release broken games, with the "promise" to fix them later, if they received enough complaints.

Sadly Gaming industry is now bigger then the Music and Movie industries combined. Nearly any developer studio that could be bought up has been by investment firms.. The only games we have hope for is the Indie games with a small close knit passionate team...

GekkanShounen You never had to pay to pull off a fatality. You could always just memorize the button combos and pull it off normally, or you could use Easy Fatalities that you unlock from the Krypt. No purchase necessary.

well actually MKX has worked perfectly for me since day 1 release, there is only 1 thing that dosnt work for PC and thats Online mode which sucks but i still think its worth buying even right now, im still able to do all story and ladder stuff and play with all my friends without a single problem or bug

I hate DLC the way it is now. DLC should happen as an additional opportunity to mine story or gameply elements not in the original game, or as a result of a game succeeding to the point that additional content helps keep the faithful playing. Microtransactions if not costume based and if not available on the cheap for an individual are also insulting. Bethesda does pretty good but even these add-ons were really short when you think about it. I think Dark Souls has had the most impressive thought out DLC that genuinely builds more into the world and expands the story. Its more like a Director's Cut of the game.

Those cameo characters that you actually fight have the exact same moveset in MK9 anyway. I doubt they'd get released as DLC.

Ed Boon has began teasing a story character pack, and before the first Kombat Pack was announced he said he wanted yo give us a chance yo vote on which NPC's become playable. Although the fact you play against them in story mode doesn't matter whatsoever, some NPC's and cameo characters will become playable in the future.
No one notices that Rain's water bubble in X allows him to move while you're trapped in it while in 9 you have to wait until it pops for him to be able to move. I mean, it's not a big change, but it IS different from 9.
Manuel Aponte I certainly wouldn't be averse to Kabal making a comeback. He is my favourite in MK9. I also saw a graph that shows each fighter from best to worst, with Kabal being the best.

Austin Griffin it's beyond that though. FPS drops like mad during fatalities making most of them jitter, constant poor online connections/disconnects, some levels like the jungle run terribly. I can't really complain getting it for £15 though!

Now the games can't have dlc even though they cost the sane as last gen games. I don't remember this being a problem when catwoman was pre order incentive for arkham city.

How is the game's speed? I found MK9 too slow for my taste. MKX looks faster, but looks can be deceiving.
allotheabove123 slower than mk9 mainly because the lack of dash cancel and the delay between dash out times. MKX is still a great fighting game in terms of balance.

Micro transactions and DLC are absolutely killing gaming. These gaming companies are so focused on wringing our wallets for every dollar that they can and in the process they forget to provide us with a complete product in the first place. What is the point of spending 60 dollars for a game if you're going to end up spending another 40 for what was already included on the disk. This shit is disgusting and I'm ready for this fucking trend to die. Corporate greed makes me sick, and it's ruining one of my favorite art forms.

Not sure what game you were watching, but that didn't appear effortless to me. In fact, that version of Shinnok's moveset is quite broken, so Cassie is basically implied to have won by outfighting him, not by raw power.
It took you 6 hours to beat MK9's story mode? How horrible are you at fighting games? It took me over just over 4 hours to beat the last one and I'm not great at fighting games either (though not that horrible).
Sektor and Cyrax are both dead (Sub-zero says this), Smoke is still a revenant, Sonya is antagonistic towards Johnny Cage because she kept choosing her job over her family (Johnny says this), also considering they want to expand the characters and rosters I don't think they need to flesh out characters that were fleshed out in the previous game (especially when they're mind-controlled through the whole thing).
The reason Sindel is a lot weaker is because she used to have Shang Tsung's soul and Shao Kahn powering her, now she doesn't.
The Outworld civil war ended quickly because Milleena wasn't well liked amongst what little followers she did have (and they were very little). I doubt there was one that was genuine as everyone who followed her that has dialogue was just in it for personal gain.
Quan-chi is much weaker than at first because he was using Shinnok as a power source, when Shinnok is sealed away he's far weaker (again, the characters say this).
The Elder Gods never do shit, that's pretty consistent throughout the series, it also shows what great integrity you have Joe when you remove a conversation they have with Erron Black, and only edit the start and ends of the conversation together to make it look like it didn't happen.
I guess Joe didn't see the fucking beginning of the game when they expand on Johnny's ability (and mention it after the fact several times).

I feel like in the Outworld Civil War, they could've had Mileena AT LEAST kill ONE of Kotal's followers, what did Reptile or Ferra/Torr even do? Also, it should've showed Mileena win at least one battle with D'vorah or Kotal just to even out the odds and make you question who will actually prevail. She's basically half Kitana, half Baraka. She should be one of the strongest characters in the entire franchise! Hell, we could have even had a chapter about her! I'm not even a die hard fan of Mileena. In MK9 I began to like her and in MKX she was AMAZING!
i love Baraka but he gets his ass kicked by everyone. I don't think he's won a single canonical fight. Being half Tarkatan is more of a detriment to Mileena than anything else.

He's supposed to be an extremely brutal and ferocious fighter and the strongest of the Tarkatans but the only times we ever see him he's getting his teeth kicked in. He's basically a jobber. But the main thing holding Mileena back (lore wise) is that she's unfocused, undisciplined, and unstable. She's probably stronger than Kitana but she's not sane enough to use that strength effectively.

I felt the same exact way playing thru story mode...was legit pissed that Mileena got taken out so quickly and without a second thought, like she was unnamed fodder honestly. I may be a bit bias I suppose, as Mileena is my favorite female and one of my top 3 overall fav characters since she was introduced, but still, they didn't do her or any of Shao Kahn's remnants justice, at ALL. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for change and loved MKX like all the others, but Kotal Kahn is, to me, a cheap, poor man's Shao Kahn. Had Shao still behind around in full force, he'd have, with Mileena by his side, casually curb stomped Kotal while finishing with his infamous "YOU SUCK!" line haha.

I didn't care so much about the story since I didn't play it so much in MK9. But I absolutely love the fighting mechanics in this game. They feel amazingly solid and fluent.
Joe, Tanya, Sindel, Baraka and Rain all don't have their "full movesets". Rather, 3 of them just have the mk9 movesets and if you look at anyone who made it from 9 to X, all of their attacks have been completely changed, been removed, and have been completely reanimated. Sindel, Baraka and Rain don't even have variations.
Tanya has virtually no original moves, but rather, placeholders stolen from Kitana and Mileena while she's still being worked on.
Just an FYI because a lot of people on the outside looking in would probably appreciate the information that these characters are not done and are not ready to be playable.

Not only have I seen passionate fighting game fanatics mark out on these sudden fights and cameos, my first time playing through story with a friend had me and them go crazy at catching these familiar faces and fighting them was even more of a shocker.

Charging $5 for one character that's on the disk already because you didn't want to buy the game before it came out is ridiculous. The $20 krypt unlocks and $5 easy fatalities are stupid, but they don't affect anything. The one worrying thing though is what Joe claimed about them making Koins more scarce to incentivize that $20 unlock.

The single player was so disappointing. There is pretty much nothing to do in the single player once you do the same tower over and over. The faction wars are just annoying because there is no chance for lower factions to win and one the PS4 the Lin Kuei and Special Forces will never win. The online gets boring really fast because everyone is too good and losing over and over to some guy with an infinite combo is just annoying. The variations make no sense sometimes. Why can't Erron Black use a rifle and two revolvers at the same time if you can very obviously see that he can hold both? And also I hate the modern bullshit like selfies, it just means that the game won't age well. The new characters that are related to classic characters, especially Cassie Cage, are just unlikable assholes. The only new character I liked were Erron Black, but they never go into much detail about him. He's just that one cowboy guy with the guns. The DLC characters also seem way too op. Goro has a combo that once you get hit by it, you're never getting out. You can use a breaker, but that's just delaying your inevitable death.

WhiplashSL MKX is an EXCELLENT game. Just has some weird DLC on the side. The core game experience is the best Mortal Kombat to date. Destiny is...meh. Guess you could call THAT Bungies 'Mortal Kombat 4' or something.

Gonna be honest Joe that bit about people who say fighting games don't need a story. That was the most stupid thing I have ever heard you say during a review. Fighting games don't NEED a story mode, but it's nice to have one. True I couldn't care less if there's a story mode in a genre where the gameplay has always been the only thing that matters, but saying that means I'm incapable of offering valuable critique is just stupid and closed-minded. That's like saying "You're opinion is different from mine, and therefore everything you say is false." Starting to get tired of your shit Joe. First you get all pissy over Nintendo removing a video you uploaded when you were fully aware they would do so, and now you're displaying such idiocy in your work?
Enderfreaksgames Just some side notes here, I noticed quite a few issues with the review.
1. A review is neither the time or place to insult people who disagree with you.
2. Don't ever reference non-canon sources for comparison to canon.
3.you would know why Sonya and Johnny were no longer on good terms if you paid attention to the story.
4. It's common for hereditary mystical powers to grow stronger when proceeding through the generations, not to mention that Cassie Cage was raised to be a fighter by Sonya, and Johnny.
5. In general just please do more research before you post a review, do fact checks and double checks of everything.

Yeah, the story mode was fucking abysmal and the Goro thing was shady as hell.. Gaming and DLC these days is disgusting. I'm loving the fighting though. Although, I don't think the fighter variations was 'innovative' they did that in Deadly Alliance and you could change the styles right in the match which was awesome.
It was also done in deception and...Armageddon a little bit.
