My family had a 1999 Mazda Premacy for quite a few many years. We recently sold it this year but despite its age, despite the scratches, cracked tail light, the fact the engine block is kinda rusted out and makes a squaking noise when you hit the breaks, it was still one of the most reliable cars we've ever had, outliving a few of our other newer cars we had and the only major issue I recall us having with it was that one time the engine overheated.

The manual says you need 5w30 if the outside temperature doesn not exceed 30 degrees Celsius and goes down to -30C, but you need 10W40 if you live in a warmer climate and it goes up to 40C. The mechanic shop put 5W40 in it last time, so thats what i did too, drives perfectly. The oil has to comply with API CF and ACEA B3 regulations. I drive the 2.0 DiTD model though
