    Love this series! Love the connection between nature and science. I have often wondered how a woodpecker's brain isn't reduced to mash!! Now we know!

    Basically. The thing falls. The GPS breaks, so they can't find it. It takes them 5 days to find. Once they find it, they discover that the light bulb has not broken and that is still fully functional.

    Just wanted to mention, so enjoyed wonderful 007 programme! Late uncle from family was Sir Roger Moore's agent for many years and it was my uncle who procured amazing Bond avenue plus numerous other exciting parts for many of the greatest such as the ever wonderful Sir Roger Moore who to my mind, is and always will be for me at any rate! Best ever Bond! :)

    Why a light bulb?

    • @Neverod8doreveN
      @Neverod8doreveN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Because it's fragile. The test was to see if the bulb could survive the fall in the protective tube.

    It was an optical illusion, the earth is simply too big to show the curvature on camera at that height.

    I thought that the light bulb would be exposed and maybe light up as if it were in a microwave, I mean why else would someone send a light bulb into space if not to see any reaction from it?

    Helium doesn't disappear... There might not be "much left" but that's all there was to start with... The helium we used fifty years ago is the same helium we are using NOW. Take a Chemistry class will ya? (I'm waiting for a "Oh I'm a world-renowned Chemistry Professor blah blah blah" AKA "I'm a twelve year old kid")

    This is not curvature of Earth, it's effect of fish eye lenses.
    at 1:19 you can see the same curvature and camera is about 30meters up....

    Did anyone see the UFO it popped out from earth

  • @Uzurpat0r
    @Uzurpat0r 10 ปีที่แล้ว +28

    It's not the curvature of Earth. It's cause by wide angle lens. Why are they lying?

    • @YokaiMoustache
      @YokaiMoustache 10 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I'm sorry good sir. But I'm positively sure that their not lying. Yes, the lens are doing some kind of effect, but at this height, even with a normal lens, you can see the beautiful curvature of our planet.

    • @Uzurpat0r
      @Uzurpat0r 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thecrazzycommunity So how is it that the Earth seems less curved form ISS than from a weather baloon? Shows like this or red bull space jump etc. are lying to us. From this hight the curvature is only subtle.
      Look up "James May Lockheed U-2 Flight"

  • @lanhikari87
    @lanhikari87 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Haha really? its recycled and gathered nearly specifacally for this purpose. And of course its not actually used up this way. And the amount in this weather balloon is nothing compared to the amount there is.
