    The GAME was even until CARRIGAN came on…let’s be honest…he changed the whole speed of the game….Himself and Collins….those two made more yards then the whole BLUEs pack combined…..that’s where we won this game truly….on the back of some good forward work and our defence SHINED last night…….look how precise KAUFUSI’s tackle were around the ankles……he chopped players down same goes for Reuben COTTER…..the forwards did an amazing JOB……it helped our BACKLINE rise to the occasion and bring the LOKI out of MUNSTER…he really was in a cheeky mood last night!,
    Some dubious decisions cost both sides more points..but it is what it is
    It was an EPIC GAME and packed stadium….couldn’t have asked for more
    GO MAROONS!! Queenslander! 🔥💯

    I feel the game was very fast and I feel the scrum base incident happens every week and if Tarik Sims if he didn’t fall for the dummy DCE wouldn’t have scored and I felt that Queensland really put pressure on Jarome New South Wales were Just beaten by the better team on the night and there’s nothing wrong with saying that I feel these three are just trying to look for excuses

      Also Tariq left the scrum early, so the refs missed that. No blaming refs here. Yeah QLD might have held a bit long on the ruck, but NSW didn't see it and go "oh, maybe we should do that" if the ref wasn't penalising, then why don't they do it. NSW failed to adapt.

    As a NSW fan, it seems, whenever there is a "classic origin game" NSW are the losing side.
    We lacked "Origin" players lastnight, especially in the middle. Matterson went missing, and to have him go missing when he was chosen over Jurbo was a choice I was bewildered with. Qld had Carrigan and Cotter, 2 middles who can both play 80 mins and do the gritty work that helps the team - hard carries, making tackles, and cleaning up around the ruck. That's always been Jurbo with Haas for NSW the last 3 years. He needs to come back.
    Crichton on the bench? It wasn't the right choice. Either he's part of the starting squad as a centre, or he's not in the 17. The 14 belongs to a more versatile player ie Hynes/Api. Having Api at 14 also means we can give Cook a rest and have a different hooking option/style to give us another dimension around the ruck. It was obvious lastnight that you need 2 hookers in an origin game.
    Cameron Murray should've never have been subbed off for Crichton. Without Jurbo in the team, we needed someone who would do the clean up work around the ruck, especially because Yeow spent most of the game playing concussed.
    I think the bench selections were where we lost the game. The bench selections, together with not taking advantage of origin conditions where the ref consciously puts the whistle away to allow players to play and decide the outcome, meant we couldn't win in another "classic origin game".

      @Sapelu, I agree mate I found the last few years especially NSW don’t win the close games, only the blowouts when QLD hasn’t shown up, if the game is rough and ‘Origin like’ NSW don’t have the heart or mental to keep up or adapt to the game hence the last few Qld wins have been by 6 points or less. When NSW wins they win comfortably which can over look a lot of your teams weaknesses’s where as QLD’s inability to keep in the fight is where we lose, with people like Slater, Smith, Thurston and Nate Myles on your coaching staff you’re always gonna have a culture of what Origin means and you add Greg Inglis into camp it becomes a beast in its self. NSW has Brandy in camp, he isn’t origin material no offence. The game was lost when you guys didn’t select Jake Jurbo. He is the definition of NSW origin. Dropping Addo-Carr was also a wrong call in my opinion. Poor from Freddie, Perth will test who’s character is legit and who’s hiding behind past results 🕵️‍♂️

      I couldn't understand Crichton at 14. He's an excellent player, I'd have him instead of Staggs at centre, he's got the big plays in him but his defence is excellent and he might even be better on the wing. You need a utility at 14, anything else is crazy.

    Harry Grant was the difference for me for Qld. He looked dangerous every time he probed the NSW line. Same with Munster. Ponga quiet. DCE had his tail up. Cleary looked flat. Too many NSW players looked flat. Qld threw the ball around a LOT more than in previous years. I think Slater’s coaching should take a lot of the credit.

    • @gheufbfff
      @gheufbfff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with some of this. I am a NSW supporter and the Queensland forwards 100 percent outplayed the NSW pack. When talking about Cleary you need to remember for most of that game he was kicking from his own 30m line. I think Slater's selections were spot on. I think some of Freddy's were terrible as well as his interchanging. Honestly the game could have gone either way for me. The difference was cotter and Carrigan, without them grant and Munster wouldn't have had such an impact. I have 5 changes for NSW for game 2 with one really big one.
      1. Staggs out and either Graham or latrell in
      2. Tariq out, Jake t in.
      3. Murray to start
      4. Stephen Crichton out, and either pap's or Nicko at 14
      5. And this is the big one, Moses in at 5/8. The reason being, Queensland have Cleary's number, and if NSW don't provide Cleary another good kicking option then they will do the same on game two. Moses plays more like a 5/8 at club level then a halfback anyway so I think it would suit. You can't judge him from game 3 last year as he broke his back in the first 5 minutes of the game.

    The 130 kg man held into the scrum by one hand. Got to love it. He was also being held onto by his own second rower but what the heck. NSW picked back-like ball playing/offloading forwards (Yeo, Paulo, Matterson, etc) and it was up to the outside backs to do the tough grunt work.
    On the QLD side they picked tough, gritty players like Carrigan and Cotter to go all game doing the tough stuff and that let the QLD outside backs do their thing in attack. NSW could've done with a Finucane style of player to do the no nonsense stuff.

    • @gheufbfff
      @gheufbfff 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mate. The NSW outside backs did most of the NSW grunt work. Some sets the NSW forwards weren't even having a run. But I will conceed the Qld forwards were faster and more aggressive throughout the game. Personally I think the NSW outside backs completely outplayed the Queensland outside backs. But with that 40 minute period of the NSW forwards getting dominated through the ruck just created so much space for grant and Munster to run. The amount of space NSW were leaving behind the ruck is almost unforgivable. Especially when they know they are playing against Harry grant and Munster FFS lol. I solely believe that loss rests on fittlers shoulders and his alone. Poor selections with Tariq Sims, and Stephen Crichton, and to start Martin before Murray is insanity honestly. Freddy will adjust for game 2 I am sure. He needs to make 6 changes and he will win this series.

Isaiah needed to be replaced for his own welfare but they wanted him to stay on because he was a big part of the game plan then blaming the Doctors for allowing Yeo to continue when clearly he was struggling “I don’t have a say in that” .He admitted that he was concerned for Yeo straight after the tackle but still left on the field …Fitler was stunned mullet on camera as if it was his first time coaching. Lacking confidence in their leadership. Both Brandy and Fittler are gifted players in their time but not sure whether they have the ability to bring the players together and develop a culture that they can call their own!!! It doesn’t help dropping key players from last year for whatever reason (and hearing more changes will be made again for Game 2 just gives the players the wrong message that there is no confidence/belief adding more pressure on top of Origin pressure. The game could of gone either way ..take ownership of the players you chose and believe in them..

    the one thing that qld did better than nsw that was the difference was the effort area, the 1 percenters, the way they scramble in defence, kick chase, kick pressure, communication all those types of things where qld did way better than us and prime example that last play where yeo went throught in the middle and made a half break if there was somebody next to him or backing him up nsw probably wouldve scored if cook or somebody had been there but thats where nsw have to do or need to do better

      Honestly. I think NSW should put Moses in at 5/8. Drop Jerome. I don't think Jerome isnt an origin player. Moses should be the NSW 5/8. He plays like a 5/8 in club land. Has a great long kicking game, better running game then Jerome and is defensively better. Queensland knew exactly where the ball was going every 5th tackle and just smothered Cleary. They will do the same in game 2 if the Queensland forwards can get on the front foot again. Nsw forwards need to fire up. The NSW forwards on paper should have picked apart that Queensland pack, but I think they were stunned by qlds intent and aggression and Qld never allowed them to get onto the front foot. Some of those set the NSW forwards didn't touch the fucking ball. All the NSW outside backs took the hit ups. The outside backs aren't going to provide fireworks in attack if all they are doing is work for the fucking forwards out of our own end.
