      I wasn’t a critic of the selection as there aren’t many people that have experienced origin first hand like Billy. What did tonight actually prove though? Everybody already said that it would pay off if there was an injury. Considering it was 12 vs 13, I don’t think QLD were as dominant as they usually are and they seemed to rely on blues fatigue to get points

    • @NoEvidenceForGod

      How was it genius? Foul play triggered the 18th man so either way Cobbo would've been there to cover given Slater would've had him as 18th were he not on the bench. If it wasn't foul play however, then you could say he made a clutch call in having Cobbo on the bench.

      @@NoEvidenceForGod Past two Origin series has seen outside backs going down due to injury and no backline to cover for those loss.He learned from the past series and made that decision to put an outside back on the bench(Cobbo). No other Origin coach has done what Billy did. The injury made Billy use his 18th(another forward)man. Thats Genious. So many critics on the lead up to game one. You'll see how they disect the game tomorrow.

    Selfish play by sualilii. His reckless and careless tackle deserved a send off. He took Walsh's head off, and nsw were targeting walsh, so they have to be prepared to hurt him legally, not illegally. The reckless nature of the tackle means there was the intent to harm, which is fine if you harm the player legally. A tackle of that severity was a justified send-off. Selfish and stupid from Joseph. I'd go for:
    Edwards, To'o, Mitchell, Crichton S, Lomax, Luai, Moses, Trebojevic, Robson, Haas, Martin, Crichton A, Yeo. Bench: Leniu, Olaukau’atu, Kenny, Burton
    That is assuming Cam Murray isn't available. If he is then I'd have him in for Olaukau'atu (Murray starting with A Crichton on the bench).

    • @absoluteclutch4585
      @absoluteclutch4585 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nah Crichton was awful. Olakautu is more damaging on the right and even if Murray is fit Ola should have the bench spot ahead of Crichton. Teddy was horrific and can't wait for Edwards to get the #1 spot.

    • @andrewbaggett8664
      @andrewbaggett8664 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@absoluteclutch4585 both him and Martin didn't have the best time in attack I agree 100%. I thought the transfer to them both from Robson and Hynes was very pedestrian, the amount of times Luai stepped on the inside because of the slow transfer was very high. Crichton and Martin needed bringing on and, especially Crichton, feeding early to get the most from them (same happened with Olaukau'atu when he came on, the halves didn't get him on a roll so he looked poor in attack).

    • @absoluteclutch4585
      @absoluteclutch4585 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @andrewbaggett8664 Hynes was horrible at directing any attack and practically had a non-existent kicking game. He was always back pedalling and wasn't confident in anything. I do feel for him cause Mag and the whole squad were in a panicked state after the send off but we had plenty of the ball in QLD's red zone and Hynes didn't take control.
      That's why Moses and Edwards will be so crucial to our spine because they're confident and have much better game management under pressure. Teddy butchered so many attacking options and was just loosely passing to no one on the outside edges whilst also having a poor defensive performance.
      I'd have the following changes;
      Edwards, To'o, Critta, Burton, Lomax, Luai, Moses, Jurbo, Robson, Haas, Martin, Ola, Murray
      Bench; Stefano, Api, Mitchell, Leniu
      Even if Murray isn't fit Mcinnes just gets that spot. We don't need Yeo's ball playing at all and Burton/Robson could easily come off bench.

    • @andrewbaggett8664
      @andrewbaggett8664 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought Yeo was one of the pick of the NSW forwards. He seemed the one QLD found most hard to bring down. Looking back at my selection, I would probably go Api if Kenny was there (and start Kenny). Robson was only there for his defence and that he could do 80. What about starting Kenny and then bringing Api on once the physicality and energy dropped off a bit (plus Kenny could cover the middle and outside forwards)

    As a mutual sport fan, this game was such a dissapointment (i stopped watching after half time). Let me put another propective forward to the sending off. Firstly was it dangerous - yes, did he derserve a send off - probably, did it effect the end result, we will never know! The send off rule is what needs to be changed. You are penalising the fans and the sponsors for not having a an even playing field. I watch many American sports like the NFL, NBA, NHL they have billions of dollars invested in these games, they do use player send offs (ejections) but the team can replace the player. The player's team that gets ejected is penalised, the player is ejected but the game continues with even number of players. NRL and rughby uniion need to adapt to these changes or fans will not continue to watch an uneven game. At the end of the day it is a business and not sports, you need to market your product so fans & sponsors get their ROI or you will loose both. Thoughts?

    Honestly as a Queenslander, full credit to the blues. They didn’t deserve to lose that game. They were ferocious all night and they never stopped trying. The only change I’d make is sualli out Edwards to the wing with a roving commission and Lomax in the centres. The reality is at full strength I think the blues win it. Madge needs to work on his bench rotation at this level. But as a Queenslander if my team performed like that. I’d be about as proud in defeat as I could be. Also sualli would be on the scrap heap.

    I do believe The fox deseved to be there and adds a lot to a team same as Latrell giving a positive environment like the blues he would’ve thrived and been the X factor

    From the players probably available to NSW for game 2:
    1. Edwards (or Tedesco; he's playing well too)
    2. To'o
    3. S. Crighton
    4. Burton (or Sualli if he isn't out suspended)
    5. Lomax (did well on debut. Worth keeping)
    6. Luai
    7. Moses
    8. Campbell-Gillard (in form and will be hard for smaller Qld fowards to contain. Also hits hard).
    9. Robson did well and good enough to keep, though I would have gone with Mitch Kenny; he hits hard and like McInnes, he can play back row too.
    10. Leniu (needs to start, to get NSW in ascendancy early).
    11. Martin
    12. Olakahatu
    13. Yeo
    14. McInnes
    15. A. Crichton
    16. Haas / Stefano / May (perhaps not this year
    17. Frizzel / Butcher / Matterson / Barnett
    Drop
    Trebovic (one ball playing foward is enough in these games and Yeo is better. NSW need more than just a toiler)
    Hynes (was only there by default. Weak in defence. His cross field running game not suited to Origin)
    Young (prone to brain explosions. Glory seeker).
    and maybe Haas (he has gradually improved, but there are better players that have more impact)

      They are expected to adjust their technique to accommodate for the opposing player sliping etc. Sualii didn’t even attempt to wrap the arm. His intent was to put on a big shot and he paid the price because he is either too lazy or dumb to get the technique right. Don’t blame the referee, he is just doing his job. Also, Reece was wiped out of the game due to it being a dangerous tackle - so it would be unfair if Sualii gets to run back on after 10 in the bin.
