      I appreciate the support. Merida is an awesome city. Already get AirBnb situated? If you haven't the place I stayed at would be a great spot.

    Enjoyed your video. I visited Merida Mexico Feb. 2022. Paseo Montejo is a really awesome area to visit. I recommend taking a buggy ride up and down the street in the evening. It is beautiful. I had dinner at the Yerba Santa restaurant (the food was incredible).
    I agree with feeling safe. I was a solo traveler and walked the streets as late as midnight without concern. I stayed in the historic district, which is less expensive than the Paseo Montejo area (the facilities in the historic district are sufficient, but not comparable to accommodations in a standard USA hotel. Hotels located on the Paseo de Montejo are much more like what USA residents would be used to. I think next time I visit, I will definitely look into the airbnb. Thank you for your recommendation.
    I also found that walking around is the best way to see Merida. I visited most of the places you show on your video, and yes they are beautiful. There are tours you can book for excursions, which are well worth visiting.
    The people. They are wonderfully kind. If you are planning on a visit to Mexico, Merida must be at the top of your list to visit.

      Merida was truly a gem. I did one other video of a tour out to Santa Barbara Cenote Park. That was epic.

    I love Merida! It's fantastic. El Barrio's meals are wonderful and the cafe from Veracruz in the wooden cups are great.

      Isn't it an amazing city. I had an absolute blast. Particularly after the craziness of Cancun and PDC. It was far less touristy.

    I really enjoyed your video on Merida, Mexico! Is there nice gyms there for working out?. I hear they now have a train that takes you from Merida too Cancun or along the Mexican Riviera. I'm thinking about getting residency in Mexico, or Ecuador? Have you been to Ecuador? I hear good things about Ecuador!. I also would like to know if you have been to Guadalajara, Mexico!? 😁✌

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not yet been to Ecuador. I would definitely recommend Mexico. They are building a train from Cancun to Bacalar I believe. I'm not sure if they have it extending out to Merida. They are still having construction issues because they are building through a jungle where a lot of the ground is extremely soft. Also trying to build a large construction project without damaging the natural Cenotes that Mexicans love is another challenge. As for gyms, I believe most of the gyms are in the residential districts outside of Centro. Did not make it to Guadalajara on this trip. That will be next time.

    The music is outstanding!
    Regarding this condo Air Bnb, did you have any issues after leaving?

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      No issues that I could think of. I had the main rep they hired show me in. And when I left the owners themselves came by to say goodbye and ask how the stay went. Communication was very prompt.

    Just a little comment, the mansions in the Paseo Montejo are not in spanish style, are in french style.

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I got that wrong then. I thought they were Spanish given the beginnings of the city as you see were started under Spanish.

    We were just in Merida. We were few blocks from the Cathedral on calle 60. Is this airbnb near the the Centro and the cathedral?

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bit further north. There should be a link in the description for the place. It's a few blocks off of Paseo Montejo

    I will be moving to Merida permanently from Montreal Canada. I'm currently looking for a place to stay. Can u tell me the street it was on and how the house level in the area was.
    Is there any businesses around that make noises in the morning or barking dogs or roosters.
    If you have the address let me know so I can check the location on web

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The description for the video has the Airbnb link in it. I don't remember any roosters. You occasionally hear dogs but, that's most of the residential Mexican cities. The street was off of Calle 52 and C. 35

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon

      I bussed in from Cancun. I know there is a Merida INT Airport. Haven't been to though. It's supposedly not too far from the city itself.

    gelato or helado? mexico or italy lol

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh God that's a tough choice. I'd say I lean a bit more Gelato over Helado. But that's a hard question. Sort of depends on who makes it as well. I would say ice cream I had in Mexico was a bit more consistent across Mexico though. In Italy you'd be surprised how inconsistent gelato places can be.

    Mercado Galvez is extremely filthy and sketchy. The food handling there is a class in what not to do. Handling raw meat, then making a plate of tacos. Merida is definitely not known for it's food scene.

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Nothing I ate affected me and tasted delicious in Merida. Given I didn't really eat much in the actual Mercado so I don't know about that area. But, every restaurant I ate at was delicious and did not affect me in anyway.

  • @debh2273
    @debh2273 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just returned from Merida. Absolute crock you people advertising this. I have traveled the world and 80% of this place is the poorest buildings and filthy garbage everywhere and the poor starving dogs and cats everywhere is hard to stomach. Do not leave the clean city center that is 20% of that massive city. Be warned eventhe most clean gorgeous restaurant had glass yes a piece of glass in my daughter's omlette. It was the size of a nickle. How that is possible escapes the minds ability to comprehend.

    • @AdventuresOfATravelingDon
      @AdventuresOfATravelingDon  ปีที่แล้ว

      Having been in the service industry that is not good that they let a piece of glass through. I'm sorry to hear about that. Hope she's okay. I would say though I've seen that happen in the best restaurants in the US as well though. That's not a specific Merida thing. You are correct that much of Merida is not as clean as the main district. However, that is something that the local and state governments need to work on themselves. I'm not going to make a video crapping on a city because of their circumstances that the regular citizens don't have full control over. I prefer to showcase what can get people to come visit. Spend money in the community and hopefully they take that money and eventually better build the place up.
