Worked alongside the Gurkhas in Malaysia. Most dedicated soldiers you could encounter. They would gladly lay their lives down for the British Crown.

I like the 02:35 handshake (as you see at every Changing) - the replacement for the actual "handing over of the keys".

The Ghurka regiment is part of the rifles family. At the time the Irish guards band may of been at the guard change in London or in front line duty. Most military bandsmen/women have secondary roles as drivers and medics

Have you been to any castles or major public hot spots in the Uk. We have armed police officers guarding them. The army are there on public duties as a show. Maybe you’ve been Thailand too long and forgotten how our UK works. The British army does not operate on British soil. The police do.

@@sonampaldensherpa true enough, but SAS/SRR/SBS do operate on UK soil. Plus, armed forces/MPGS on guard/gate duty are 'live'. It's mostly civilian armed Police though for ceremonies.

@Stuart the point of the changing of the guard is to guard the sovereign at their residence. It is not a history fair. The music played during the changing the guard is either a regimental march, or is played to entertain the public. This has been done for donkeys years, and is very much in keeping with tradition.
