The Exemplary Battles hate is really weird to me. People complain that it's got broken units in it as if there aren't multiple loyalist-legion-specific-breachers alone in the Liber Astartes book that compete with the very worst of them for gamebreaking. The system isn't balanced or well written in any way, shape, or form... that's not an Exemplary issue.
Squads like Dark Furies and Firedrakes are in most scenarios absolutely crazy good, yet they are entirely "legal". In one of his most recent batreps, Steve decided to as a test put two full Dark Fury squads against one squad of Firedrakes, both sides with some characters included. The result was a few dead Terminators and a huge pile of Dark Fury corpses.
I will forever be bugged when Luka and Steve complain about the exemplary units when 1. It's narrative, and 2. Only the iron warriors unit is actually undercost when compared to the basic units, let alone the Legion specific squads.
Um, Sunkillers are MUCH MORE expensive than a HSS with Lascannons. They are over-costed, not under-costed. They are 1.6 times the cost of a HSS bros with lascannon for additional dudes beyond the first 5, not 3 pts more. You could take a full HSS with attached tech-covenant guy for the +1BS for cheaper when going bigger squad sizes.
@@trajanthegreat2928 - More proof that the HH unit costs need a major rebalancing. If Sunkillers were DA, BA, IF, or UM, they would be cheaper than their generic HSS counterparts while having even more insane rules.
@@benbiddiss336 - Well said! If HSS lascannons were closer to Sun Killers in points, they would be balanced. But so many things are unbalanced about HH 2.0, I really hope they address the worst offenders soon. Taking under-costed lascannons is often the best option against under-costed Contemptors.

Yeah but in the last edition they were +1S as well so they were taken down alittle but every legion has that one unit that seems over powered. Plus very nice looking models 👌
I don't think you lose Nineteen if you take the Blade of the Laer, because you only get a close combat weapon if you drop the Blade of the Laer. Also, due to the wording of the Duellist's Aegis I think you would still get +1 WS even if you use the Blade in a challenge.
At 29:20 I thought you had to remove the units actually covered by the template, not get to pick and choose who lives and dies? Maybe it just looks off with the camera angle.
Honestly, I think it should be ruled that everyone but dreadnoughts cannot shoot weapons S7 or higher. Reactions are what make things like lascannon support squads, plasma squads, and melta bikes are toxic.
You should know Luka, WintersSEO emperors children list has 10 sunkillers and an armistos attached and that pairing, for the most part, murders a unit turn.

My excitement at seeing Emperor's Children on the table was really squashed by Luka's terrible attitude about the Sun Killers, and I feel sorry for his opponent. If you can't handle a unit being played then just ban it; otherwise get over yourself and try to have some fun and excitement so the audience can actually enjoy the video.
Okay as a casual observer who is really interested in getting into the game I feel like seizing the initiative is this super neat idea conceptually but not great in practice. Truthfully, I feel like it should be a warlord trait if anything as a specific heart of the league or something. Maybe that would make it worse because everyone would hate that league/warlord... I don't know maybe they should just scrap it.

Yeah each marine is 11 points more in a Sunkiller squad than HHS in a 10 man squad. In a 5 man squad, it's 7 points more per model.

This is correct. Lucius ALWAYS has Nineteen, the choice is whether you want Blade of the Laer or a basic CCW.

Scorpius firing indirectly from out of sight are a really effective counter for lascannon heavy squads.

It’s a morale check, not a LD check, so yes, you run away if you fail, it was even clarified in the faq.
Honestly, this kind of one sided reports are not fun to see. Avoid that deploymemt map at all cost, unless is a narrative mission
