ben roddison I come to realize it might've taken a LOT of resources to even attempt. Plus, being way way different to what we all got used about Sonic games it probably would've sunk in sales. Not many appreciate SOnic Spinball for this reason, and was also made by the same Sega group as the SatAM prototype.
The second sonic game was replaced with calling it sonic spinball. The slower paced game called sonic the hedgehog. The sonic spinball game's intro looks similar to the slower paced game and sonic spinball was made in 1993. The same year
Fate of said games. Sonic X-Treme: Developed, heavily advertised, canceled. Later remade and then eventually scrapped again. Remade one more time, albeit successfully and the same way as shown in gameplay videos. Sonic-16: Canceled, though made way for a much better game in the future Sonic Extreme: Canceled, though sadly reincarnated as Sonic Riders Sonic Crackers: Exists Online In Beta Form Sonic Ride: fun ride simulator that can just be re-watched again; not canceled technically
The first game had good animation but the fish eye camera looks odd but I would of loved the adventure-ish gameplay. But that's coming from a person that enjoyed Sonic adventure wayyyyyyy to much. Also the second Sonic game had a cool song
I seem to remember that Sonic Ride footage originally back in the day (the Nineties, kiddies ;D). I think it was used in a motion simulator ride in what was Sega World in the Trocadro centre in London (a massive multi floor arcade back when arcades still existed everywhere).
That would be Chris Senn you're talking about, and it wasn't his fault in the first place. Basically Sega was telling Chris and Ofer Alon (the developer of the fisheye engine) that their last chance of the game being released was if they could finish it in time for Christmas. Chris TRIED to do this, but the strain was so incredible that he fell sick so badly that the doctors told him he only had about 6 months to live it he didn't stop.
Everything you mentioned about Sonic Crackers, from the pause screen movement to the endless supply of rings was obviously just them in some kind of debug mode. I doubt any of that was part of the final game's design. Anyway, Sonic Crackers looks a whole lot like Knuckles Chaotix to me... I wouldn't be surprised if they just adapted all of the core ideas from Sonic Crackers into Chaotix, and decided to scrap the game because of that. Also, the Sonic Skateboarding game looks a whole hell of a lot like Sonic Riders. As for the discussion about Sonic Lost World & Sonic X-Treme. they seem like two VERY different games born out of the same basic concept.
STH Crackers was a early proto- nor a beta of Knuckles' Ringstar/Chaotix/Whatever. It was like [I'm not even gonna say it] but with Sonic The Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower. The game based on SATAMsonic was called Sonic-16. (IDK why) Sonic Extreme. 3 words: A la SA2.
honestly the title Sonic Crackers had me thinking if that cancelled Sonic game was going to be filled with the food in the title. I don't know why I thought that but I was definitely wrong
I kind of understand why the game was titled Sonic Crackers, because Sonic and Tails had a lot of puzzles and situations to "crack" since they were stuck to those cursed rings.
Point is: a sonic game is fast. A Sonic game relies on "Sonic" as the main playable character. If necessary, subsidiaries are optional (Sonic Adventure). But otherwise, if the game isn't fast, it isn't Sonic. I consider Heroes more of a spin-off than an actual part of the series for it's slow, "strategic" gameplay.
I hate how there are people who defend that sluggish SATAM cancelled game, yet there are those who criticize Sonic Boom for the same reasons? At least Sonic Boom looks fun for some, this cancelled game just looks slow, repetitive, and boring. At least Boom actually has fun animations, cool places to explore, and combat.
Well I have Rise Of Lyric, since it came out today, and it is a lot better than the trailers and convention demos have portrayed it as. So I don't care what you think.
**sigh** , I do give Sonic Boom a chance, the tv show's 2nd season had clever writing, Fire and Ice's in-game cutscenes were a upgrade from the text and visual novel like cutscenes from the other 3ds Sonic games, Rise of Lyric had some potential as Sonic Synergy, Shattered crystal I haven't seen much of yet. But the cancelled SatAM game was just a prototype, the developers said that the final game would have the screen move with Sonic and not shift here in the PROTOTYPE, I can sorta bear people judging bad games but people judging a game based on the prototype is just, what even...but is is your opinion and I respect that.
Part of me wishes that Sega would re-create Sonic Xtreme using the engine they used for Lost World, but now that I think about it, not even THEY knew what they wanted Xtreme to be like. I mean, look at all the different versions there are of the game. That's why there was no "final decision," and why the game remained in development hell until it was completely shut down.
It's controversial about Sonic Lost World being based on Sonic X-treme. While some member of the crew behind SLW said they didn't even know about Sonic X-Treme, another member said it was inspired by Sonic X-treme
7:42 remember sonic mania adventures? It said eggman in that thing? It was classic, and then it was called robotnik, and this classic game? BEFORE THE “EGGMAN” NAME WAS MADE???
Knuckles and the rise of the choatix = SOnic Crackers. Now you know what Sonic Crackers as not cancelled. Just converted to a different system. The doom of one. :(
Just because it's the 22nd anniversary doesn't mean he's 22. He's 17, since he was 16 in Sonic Jam, and in Sonic Heroes and it was his birthday on Sonic Generations.
well SEGA had basically completely turned them down on the Saturn version in the first place, the idiots over at POV they brought in showed one of the top execs an old buggy version of the engine, resulting in him being totally turned off to it, outraged. The demo videos you see such as the one here are actually from the PC version, that's the one Chris and Ofer were trying to get out that I mentioned. They completely split from the "main" team eventually and were developing that on their own.
Sonic 4 Episode 3 was also canceled. And is it me or SLW taken the concept of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2(SMG2 for short.) and for some f***ing unknown reason, Sonic Xtreme?
Sonic Skateboarding = Sonic Riders Beta?
Yeah!
it's looks much more then Sega Saturn does. For wich platform that project?
@@RagemanRM xbox, i believe.
Sonic skateboarding is a secret sprite from sonic 3
Probably yeah
Tails is afraid of Lightning and Ghosts. Perhaps that could be his weakness.
Imagine what it would be like if these games were never cancelled.
6:46 Sonic Frontiers from 1990s
the cartoon game looks like it's a fan made game
ben roddison I come to realize it might've taken a LOT of resources to even attempt. Plus, being way way different to what we all got used about Sonic games it probably would've sunk in sales. Not many appreciate SOnic Spinball for this reason, and was also made by the same Sega group as the SatAM prototype.
@Bodhi gee it sure is boring out here
The SatAM game reminded me so much of the early version of Comix Zone
Sonic Lost World is truly a great game and was definitely inspired by Sonic X-Treme... it literally is what Sega wanted Sonic X-Treme to be.
No it is not...Lost World is NOTHING like X-Treme
***** yes it is
i rather have sonic lost world than x_treme it looks too bulky
I didn't like Lost World, and it certainly doesn't resemble X-treme much at all. It's definitely more like Mario Galaxy.
lost world was pure cringe. we were told it was like Xtreme. instead we got Super Sonic Galaxy..
knuckles one true weakness
GIRLS
._. me and knuckles have the same weaknesses
Mr. Needle Mouse same
oh come on, seriously? XD
Same with me
I'm the only one that find that cringe also by the way your not the only one here
Simp
Omg, I just realized. Pre 2.2 SRB2 Sonic sprites were inspired by X-treme's.
6:59 sonic ride was like dragons lair
The second sonic game was replaced with calling it sonic spinball. The slower paced game called sonic the hedgehog. The sonic spinball game's intro looks similar to the slower paced game and sonic spinball was made in 1993. The same year
Spinball also had SatAM characters in it, but I am not sure if it was a replacement.
Fate of said games.
Sonic X-Treme: Developed, heavily advertised, canceled. Later remade and then eventually scrapped again. Remade one more time, albeit successfully and the same way as shown in gameplay videos.
Sonic-16: Canceled, though made way for a much better game in the future
Sonic Extreme: Canceled, though sadly reincarnated as Sonic Riders
Sonic Crackers: Exists Online In Beta Form
Sonic Ride: fun ride simulator that can just be re-watched again; not canceled technically
Since sega is still making 2d sonic game's There is a chance that Sonic Crackers can be a thing still and Sonic Xtreme lol hopefully.
The first game had good animation but the fish eye camera looks odd but I would of loved the adventure-ish gameplay. But that's coming from a person that enjoyed Sonic adventure wayyyyyyy to much. Also the second Sonic game had a cool song
WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE THINK THIS? SONIC TEAM EVEN SAID THAT LOST WORLD WASN'T BASED OFF OF X-TREME!!!!!!!!!!!
I seem to remember that Sonic Ride footage originally back in the day (the Nineties, kiddies ;D). I think it was used in a motion simulator ride in what was Sega World in the Trocadro centre in London (a massive multi floor arcade back when arcades still existed everywhere).
Am I the only one who's happy some of these games were never released? They look downright terrible. The SatAM game looks quite interesting, though.
That would be Chris Senn you're talking about, and it wasn't his fault in the first place.
Basically Sega was telling Chris and Ofer Alon (the developer of the fisheye engine) that their last chance of the game being released was if they could finish it in time for Christmas. This was a great job covering these titles. Thank you for sharing
3:43 I've played this game earlier.
When I've made it to the very top I can't control Sonic a bit but when I was jumping Tails aren't moving at all.
Note I actually recreate a sonic x treme level in robot 64
My results where just like the game
So I think cancel games can be back
do you mean robot 64 in roblox?
SEGA Technical Institute died after Sonic X-Treme (literally) so Sonic Team already proceeded to ruin the series, starting with Sonic Heroes.
Yeah, feck Sonic Team.
Sonic 16 looked like the old Metal Gear with a Sonic theme lol
Everything you mentioned about Sonic Crackers, from the pause screen movement to the endless supply of rings was obviously just them in some kind of debug mode. I doubt any of that was part of the final game's design.
Anyway, Sonic Crackers looks a whole lot like Knuckles Chaotix to me... I wouldn't be surprised if they just adapted all of the core ideas from Sonic Crackers into Chaotix, and decided to scrap the game because of that.
Also, the Sonic Skateboarding game looks a whole hell of a lot like Sonic Riders.
As for the discussion about Sonic Lost World & Sonic X-Treme. they seem like two VERY different games born out of the same basic concept.
well from what the video said, Sonic Crackers was basically the beta version of Knuckles Chaotix.
more like the alpha version.
Don't think that was entirely accurate but that's basically sort of what happened.
There was also supposed to be Sister Sonic which would've been Sonic's long lost sister being the main star.
(IDK why)
Sonic Extreme. 3 words: A la SA2.
Just to point things out for 'ya.
LOL That Sonic Ride would have been excellent at making people hurl.
honestly the title Sonic Crackers had me thinking if that cancelled Sonic game was going to be filled with the food in the title. I don't know why I thought that but I was definitely wrong
Games released never sonic
The SatAM game looked badass.
you forgot sonic saturn the sequel to sonic X-treme
Bruh Sonic Crackers Is Knuckles Chaoitx Prototype 😑
I kind of understand why the game was titled Sonic Crackers, because Sonic and Tails had a lot of puzzles and situations to "crack" since they were stuck to those cursed rings.
Hold it. There was a game for SatAm that got canceled?! SEGA!!! You've got some explaining to do!!!!
Heroes is pretty fast if you’re sonic lol
Sonic Crackers was completed game, thought under other name, Knuckles Chaotix.
The song of the credits is Sonic 3D Blast Saturn Title screen, but that version is the sonic generations mission (Sonic 3D Blast Saturn Theme) mission
SatAM Sonic is basically Metal Gear Sonic.
I honestly just wish Sonic Xtreme were completed. All of the different engines look fun and I would've been fine with any of them.
7:05, if there was some sonic ride for the oculs rift, it will be awesome
Me and knuckles have the same damn weakness, GIRLS!
"cancled"
I hate how there are people who defend that sluggish SATAM cancelled game, yet there are those who criticize Sonic Boom for the same reasons? At least Sonic Boom looks fun for some, this cancelled game just looks slow, repetitive, and boring. At least Boom actually has fun animations, cool places to explore, and combat.
Well I have Rise Of Lyric, since it came out today, and it is a lot better than the trailers and convention demos have portrayed it as. So I don't care what you think.
Finally thanks for agree that Sonic Boom is a good game.
***** Exactly, the exploration was the main reason I loved the game.
SpongicX so you believe a bunch of cut content, and better graphics are better than knuckles on steroids, ok.
There's actually a fan recreation of X-Treme going on, look up project AXSX
that sonic skateboarding would have been so cool!
Sonic Sonic
It's controversial about Sonic Lost World being based on Sonic X-treme. While some member of the crew behind SLW said they didn't even know about Sonic X-Treme, another member said it was inspired by Sonic X-treme
Cool video lots of cool games that I had never seen
always wanted them to do a sat am version
7:42 remember sonic mania adventures? It said eggman in that thing? It was classic, and then it was called robotnik, and this classic game? BEFORE THE “EGGMAN” NAME WAS MADE???
Sonic cartoon is a game too I never heard of that
I seen about 1 or 2 pictures in an old magazine showing Sonic Jam it looked like sonic adventure also...
What was the ending music in this video? I recognize it.
Sonic 3D Blast Saturn Title screen music (Sonic Generations version)
me too it's from a sonic game
the first two seemed amazing.
There was also that DS Sonic game they showed a demo of in an E3 if i recall correctly
Sonic crackers looks kinda fun ngl
Knuckles and the rise of the choatix = SOnic Crackers. Now you know what Sonic Crackers as not cancelled. Just converted to a different system. The doom of one. :(
The second game looked promising it looked a little too childish like those old 90´s pc games, but if you worked around it, it could be pretty good
Ya but it has some good logics and fun gameplay... using strategy and trying to pick best character in best timing!
What's the name of the song during the credits?
The differences: voices graphics, modern, NOT CANCELLED
Sonic Extreme? You wanted that? DUDE, we got Sonic Riders instead, which was way better than what you just showed us!
Ride was never a game, it was used as a cinematic at an actual ride at a park in Japan.
Sonic extreme just looks like an earlier version of sonic riders.
It says it doesn't look like sonic it looks like... What does it say
Some concepts from Sonic Xtreme were used in Sonic Lost Worlds
The character bios were great 😊
DANG!!! THEY CANCELLED EXTREMMMMMELY COOL GAMES ESPECIALY THE SONIC RIDE ONE
Sonic EXTREME XBOX IS HORRIBLE
They weren't even going to be the final versions though most likely, they were test levels Chris threw together to demonstrate the engine.
In the sonic and tails ring game, notice how when tails goes downhill his tails are ion or in front of his head. Lol
3:25- Changed to Sonic Riders :)
Hey cool vid. I love watching all these what could of been games
Why am I suddenly getting recommended old videos?
Maby the Last was Planed as a railgun Shooter of for a Virtual Ride
Sonic's Edusoft needs to be added
Good play I want them back
The sonic x-treme concept should be redone for the 3ds.
what that song at Sonic extreme
sonic ride + sonic extreme= sonic riders
well first of all I don't understand why it doesn't say why it got cancelled 😕😕.But it still cool!
people wanted sonic x-treme and sega gives them that shit of sonic lost world
i still wonder why writers wrote off sally acorn in the game and anime
Sonic’s older than knuckles.
Destructo9k , SONIC IS 15 YEARS OLD
He’s 16 and knuckles is 15, but who cares about a game characters age, am I right?
All Sega does now days is look back at there old games.
Sadly reincarnated as Sonic Riders? Gosh, I love Sonic Riders!
a nother sonic game we never got was sonic dc for dreamcast it never mad it to market
you forgot Sonic DS, but i think that was just the first idea to Sonic Rush
I like all those game's I don't known why they would take them down
Occasionally.
u think if any sonic game got cancelled it would be sonic labyrinth
If it’s not released. How are you playing sonic xtreme
Sonic Xtreme was going to be multiplat on Saturn and PC
Sooooo ....All the older Concepts are becoming the new Games ..Sega is truly running out of ideas for sonic
Sonic 4 Episode 3 was also canceled.
And is it me or SLW taken the concept of Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2(SMG2 for short.) and for some f***ing unknown reason, Sonic Xtreme?
If only they coulda fine-tuned Sonic Xtreme, maybe I'd still be chubby and my eyes wouldn'ta changed...
Or maybe that was puberty!
RIP robonik
