Hi Adam & Eric - Re shirt button towards the sky Adam made comment that someone gave him this tip after 25 years. Well thanks to you guys I am getting this tip after 35 years. It makes perfect sense and stops me lifting out of posture between 3/4 position to full backswing which I might add has caused immense inconsistency during those 35 years. Thanks again Eric ,best instructor out there.
You guys work so well together teaching the golf swing the basics of the golf swing... the the MASTER teaching the TEACHER ⛳👍⛳👌 Please pair up and make more videos thank you🙏
Feedback is key, I understand that and you guys made it totally clear. I practice my swing a lot in my backyard without a ball, using a window as a mirror just the check my positions in various angles. I highly recommend it. When I see what is right, a learn the feel of it and then I can take that feel to the range and hit balls. Has at least made a bit more conscious of what I am trying to achieve rather than just hit 100 of balls without a clue of what I doing. And thanks for sharing a lot of great content Eric! Keep it coming.
Great lesson for all of us! I have noticed with this better turn the body is naturally in a different place spacially when the downswing starts - specifically the chest being further away from the ball. For me, this affects the timing/sequence a bit on the downswing. I find that I need to be a little more patient coming down/rotating - or the hands come into the ball a little late. Whenever I watch golf videos now that suggest swing changes, I really find it useful if there is some conversation as to how these changes might also need some additional adjustments for them to be effective. Thanks again!
Eric Cogorno's lessons with golf's greatest teachers is excellent. We get exposed to golf's major truths like, "If you don't get depth in your swing, you won't have an inside out swing & you'll lose power." Then, you see it on video: Eric turns his torso 90 degrees to the target line & gets his hands as far back as his right shoulder - maybe more. Daniel Kang gets hers a fist or two further than her right shoulder. That's why at 5'5" she hits her driver 280 to 290 yards.
Great series of videos, really helping me during lockdown to work on my swing at home. I am finding it much easier to shallow my down swing with a weaker left hand grip. Is there any down side to this change, since I can’t hit a ball and see where it would be going ?
Hey Ryan! Yes there is. All else equal your face will be more open then it was before. 1. Maybe it was too closed before and now its perfect 2. Maybe it was square before and now its open 3. Maybe it was one already and now you're in big trouble If its more open you will need to add more left wrist flexion/right wrist extension or more arm rotation. I talk about that all throughly here: th-cam.com/video/S776LyvM6Pc/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/lxyLhDS_UrM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8Cg2O8atmYY/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/3QQUyRnRSJU/w-d-xo.html
One thing I'm surprised you guys didn't talk about in the extension is to make sure you're not reverse pivoting by moving your chest up towards the sky
In part 2 ..I like to key off my left shoulder passing under my chin to create a full back turn..would that be correct?..the extension move up to get the back swing and down again to complete the follow through?..
like this as was always told to keep my dancing left foot on the floor but due to injuries I csnt fully turn with out it coming up or end up coming out to in.need that big turn then downswing out to right field with the right hand snapping over at impact Is that wrong swing thought????
Eric: I am interested in your online instruction. I have not been a Facebook user. Is it explained how to upload videos to the site. Is this done directly form IPhone to the site. I do use the V1 app. Can that be used. Thanks
Hey Richard! Would love to have you! Right now you would need a Facebook account to get into the group. If you contact service@cogornogolf.com we can help you set up an account (you dont have to use your real name or anything or use it for anything other than our group if you dont want) You dont need anything fancy....right from iPhone into the facebook group!
I have issues with early extension, so I try to keep my torso "facing" the ball during the swing to try and maintain spine angle. Does this upward extension stem from the fact that you are standing the furthest away from the ball with your driver? How could I incorporate this upper extension concept AND keep from extending early? How would this translate to the irons/wedges?
Hey Casey! Good questions. If you have "early extension" you would NOT want to feel MORE upward extension. The answer to how to incorporate is.....YOU should not....BECAUSE you already have too much. You need to feel your HEAD/CHEST/FACE going more DOWN and forward toward the ball and left hip/left leg more BACK I would start here: th-cam.com/video/NGyjvnwNPG0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/dF55XUErEHc/w-d-xo.html
Hi Adam, I can’t find the 3rd video segment in this series on your channel (I’ve seen 1, 2 and 4 and they are great). Can you provide a link to this? Many thanks!
Well done Eric. Adam full of wisdom and knowledge nice to see you working with lots of other coaches and sharing your knowledge. Just a point the two pros on video are probably the most flexible players on tour. And the youngest. I think you know when they get older they are heading towards back and other problems just like tiger and alot older players. There is nothing natural going on in there swings they look incredibly freaky and unbearable. If us TH-cam viewers are at that level we would not be watching TH-cam. .? There is other ways in getting performance with swinging more natural you just need to studio the Mike Austin’s methods. He was 50 years ahead of anyone else and he had been playing all of his life and he was in his 90s when he died without any back or physical problems apart from his stroke. Which was not caused by player golf. Why why don’t everyone talk about this most natural swing and the longest hitter ever lived. It don’t make sense in showing the modern players of today but they have never come close even today to get anywhere near as The late Mike Austin. He should be a roll model for everyone who ever wants to learn to play golf. He wasn’t good at putting or possible chipping but his pivot and realise in generating speed at 150 mph in his prime as never been matched. You could never replace the old classic swings for being natural. Love your videos thow. They was all lower body movements and less upper body, Jack, Ben, Snead all lower body, left foot lifting. The only thing thats got better in golf is the equipment but the swing methods have never beaten the classic swing so why change it. If by using the modern methods you are able to hit the golf ball over 515 yards then lets all learn and continue to learn it, that makes sense. But nobody as come close to the late Mike Austin’s targets so what the bloody hell you all doing out there 😵
I been working on raising heel to help my low back pain . Eric when I do that my heel start coming up right away. Also don’t really feel much coil . But I do after watching video. Is that ok to move heel that quickly?
Yes...replaced by left side bend on backswing then again by right side bend on follow through These should help: th-cam.com/video/90Iy1Lm1ynw/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/YquRd9mVUzY/w-d-xo.html
Hey Brett! Sorry for confusion! IF you keep an eye on our channel and Scratch Golf Academy Channel you will see them all as they come out! Hope all is well and youre staying safe!
Brett. There are 2 videos on scratch academy you tube channel and 2 on Eric’s channel. The 2 on Scratch Academy start with set the up and is labeled 1 of 2 videos
Why do instructors push power and distance (like the golf industry)? In 46 years of playing, I have known many golfers older than myself that kicked my ass because they hit the ball straighter, not further. .
Hey Jim! Thanks for the message and the feedback. We push distance because it is the number one statistical correlation between score level. If you check out any strokes gained info or statistical data you will see that. Statistically speaking they probably kicked your ass not ONLY because of the straighter drive.... They most likely also kicked your ass elsewhere....Greens in Reg, up and down percentage, putting %, etc. Stats are what they are. Distance is the king. Regardless of what you or I may think...

Great video guys!
Thanks,Jeffrey!
Very good driver tips, will have to work on extension. 🤜🤛
Thanks! Can definitely help!
Excellent video Gents! Thanks for the 2 key nuggets.
Thanks, Anthony!
Really good video!
Thanks, Chris! Adam is great!

Thanks for the feedback....can't cover everything all at once....wanted to hit the biggies!
Geez!!! what I would do to attend your two day school. Eric your the blue collar master teacher.
Would love to have you one day!
Oh! my 2 fav golf teachers together lol. You 2 handsome bastids do your thing...
btw it helps me hit the driver better when I feel like I get my weight behind the ball before letting it fly. if that helps anyone excellent.
:)
In part 2 ..I like to key off my left shoulder passing under my chin to create a full back turn..would that be correct?..the extension move up to get the back swing and down again to complete the follow through?..
Yup! That would be correct!
I guess this would be the same feels for any full swing so iron play/woods as well not just driver?
Some differences between irons and driver we talk about here:
th-cam.com/video/TJtx-qVSgVU/w-d-xo.html
like this as was always told to keep my dancing left foot on the floor but due to injuries I csnt fully turn with out it coming up or end up coming out to in.need that big turn then downswing out to right field with the right hand snapping over at impact
Is that wrong swing thought????
Thats fine so long as it produces the ball flight you want!

Absolutely!

Will this not cause a more shallow iron swing and perhaps a little thinny.question not statement as keen to try . Thanks

So, video 1 of this lesson was actually video 2 of the previous lesson on takeaway?
I think so...
Looks like video 1 is not on Eric’s site but rather the Scratch Academy TH-cam channel
Do these backswing tips apply to irons as well?
In general, yes.
I been working on raising heel to help my low back pain . Eric when I do that my heel start coming up right away. Also don’t really feel much coil . But I do after watching video. Is that ok to move heel that quickly?
Absolutely OK!
Very interesting-would it be correct to say that flexion at address is lost to extension, but maintained through side kink/bow?
Yes...replaced by left side bend on backswing then again by right side bend on follow through

Not really talked about but the shoulder is always under the chin if turn is proper. It appears to me
