- We are so happy that we were able to experience such wonderful food in Sofia Bulgaria! Like we said this was just mainly a street food tour (with a few traditional stops) but we really would love to try the traditional meals around Bulgaria in our future weeks we spend in this beautiful country.
So if you have any recommendations please leave them down below! We will be exploring Bulgaria for a 2 weeks longer and need some ideas!
Thank you so much for watching and thank you Sylvia for showing us around.

The food in Bulgaria is very good! Love this video and you guys are as always very nice! Hello from Bucharest! 🤟🤗
Thank you so much!! It was extremely delicious and we cannot wait to try more foods around Bulgaria ☺️
Romanian is as good as ours. We would fight for sarmale though 😂!
Street food in Bulgaria ,pure veg?
Romanian food is very similar to our except you add garlic to everything😊 I guess it's because of Dracula
We are a small country and small nation as a whole, but I feel that we are super underrated in comparison to the other European countries. Unlike them, we have EVERYTHING to offer - good food, culture, some of the oldest history as well as beaches, mountains, forests, rivers, lakes and more! Truly a hidden gem if you ask me (totally not biased at all lol).
We loved our visit and will definitely return!
Bulgaria is nice, Bulgarians not so much...
Bulgaria is totally underrated I agree. But food? Bulgarian food in my experience is only good when it's totally домашно or home made. The best food I've ever eaten has been in Bulgaria but Bulgarian food quality at restaurants and magazine is normally terrible
Ignorant people repeat the lie that Bulgaria is a small country, when two-thirds of all European countries are smaller than Bulgaria in terms of territory.
@@stan3110Bulgaria is a small maybe medium sized if we’re talking globally. I don’t think it’s even top 100 in area.
I am so glad you liked our food! The cheese is one of my favourite also. Guys you have to definitely try the Shkembe Chorba soup. Add garlic sauce and a bit of spicy pepper. Gonna be probably one of the best soups you have ever tried ,like ever. Love to you from Bulgaria!
After we finish up in Turkey this week we will be. Ack and definitely try that ❤️ thanks so much for the suggestion!
Много ти е "бачкаторски"вкуса!Шкембе чорба-любимо ястие на строителни хамали и на текезесари-стахановци.

Много сте сладки и готини ,радвам се че ви хареса всичко.Поздрави от България и елате пак.🥰
Thank you! We have loved our time here!
I like your vibe guys, exploring this side of Europe will unleash unseen beauties :D keep on doing what you're doing! 😃 ❤ from Romania.
Thanks so much!! We love this side of Europe and have so much to explore ☺️
I can't believe it that someone recognised our small but beautiful country!!
Боза - много вкусно. Всичко българско е много вкусно!
We loved the food!
We are glad you enjoyed 🎉 now time to hike off the pounds 😅😂
България няма българска кухня всичко е взето от Tyрската.Българите само се хвалят че българското е най-хубавото но и в другите държави има интересни и вкусни неща.Bulgaria doesn't have Bulgarian cuisine, everything is taken from Turkey. Bulgarians only brag that Bulgarian cuisine is the best, but there are also interesting and delicious things in other countries

As a native from Sofia, I could say that "Skara Bar" is one of the few places that you can still have a good Bulgarian barbecue. I guess, you found the difference between "Skara Bar" and the street food. Good choice!
I’m glad we decided to go there then! It truly was so yummy 🤤
Where is the "skara" located?
@@betonmagen There are two Skara Bar locations in Sofia. One is in "Zaimov Park", the other close to the Telegraph agency building.
finally someone mentioned the benefits of the Boza :D
😊
I am traveling tomorrow to Sofia, BG - Your video has been so useful, thanks for posting… greetings from Doha, Qatar!
I’m so glad you found it helpful!! Hope you enjoy your time in Sofia ☺️
What a lovely couple, thank you for visiting us ❤
Thank you for the sweet words 🥰
i am bulgarian and im realy glad you like the food
We truly enjoyed it! We are in Bulgaria now and are so excited to try more food in the Rhodopes!
I love very much BULGARIAN National food! I love very much banitza, kebapche, musaka, kavyrma, shopska salata, surmy, lukanka and more, more others delicious things!
We loved the food so much!
Short and simple:you love junk food. Call it "national ",it's still junk.
You must also try mish-mash, a typical Bulgarian summer dish. And try the gouveje.
And try the gouveje.
И опитайте gouveje.
And try gouveje.

There are many options and they are all very tasty. Greetings from Sofia!
Thank you! We actually just had mish mash yesterday and it’s in our food tour video that will be out in a few weeks ❤️
Welcome to Bulgaria :) Have a nice trip across our country :)
Thank you 😊
I'm glad you like the Bulgarian food. 🙂
We LOVE it
Just one fact about cheese it is the Feta cheese actually represents a Bulgarian cheese and it’s a so many variations to make that cheese and the bacteria is called Lactose Bacillus Bulgaris
I don't know why everyone likens boza with beans. But you are right that it tastes like bread because it is made of wheat or barley .with sugar left to fermentate.
Definitely understandable
Very positive, good vibe ppl. Few foreigners consider tarator a soup, especially in all inclusives they dont know what to make of it and use it as a sauce(more so the with garlic variety). Also the boza was a huge surprise, few tourists even consider trying it and even less r actually liking it. Im pretty sure your order was mixed up, probably pointing in the menu, there r exceptions but usually kashkaval pane is in a single block, while the sirene is on bites. As u could see on the pizza kashkaval melts when heated and when paniran(breaded) it got crispy on the outside and chewy to gooey on the inside.
Glad that you've liked our food! You are welcome back to Bulgaria! Try shkembe chorba :)
Thank you and we filmed another food tour that will be out next week where we tried it 🤩
@@TheAdventuringArtists you guys know the traditional shkembe chorba have to be a really spicey and hot and with garlic and vinegar right?😗
Just back from Sofia.. food there is AMAZING!! Been visiting Bulgaria since 1989 so know all the tricks … Skarabar on Benkovski is one of your faves.. mmm mmm mmm🍽️🍽️ owner is a real cool dude!!!
You guys had gotta try some some good Rakija too!!?? Назтраве!! 🥃🥃🥃
The food is so good 😊 and we tried Rakija a few times 🎉🤩 We will definitely be back ❤️🇧🇬
This food is the best. I've spent 23 years in London and prepared the food by myself to survive.
Completely understand! Surprised there aren’t any Bulgarian restaurants there.
Браво, за чудесното видео !!!
Thank you 🙏🏼
thanks you guys! im so glad that u choose Bulgaria !
❤️🇧🇬
I am happy for you that you are so open to try new things and you really appreciate it and enjoyed it❤! Like a Bulgarian girl I can say that our traditional food is simple, but with good ingredients combined in a perfect way and this makes it so delicious. There is so much to try but just one stomach 😅
Loving the different types of foods you guys are showing! Great job guys 😍
Thank you ❤️ we love making these food tours 😋
You see our streets are paved with gold
Thank you for your nice review!

you guys r great
I saw you guys while I was walking down the street and now your channel got in my recommended, glad u enjoy the food!
Thanks for watching ❤️
Finally someone tries some shish kebab or grilled meat, it must be all over the place there.
As a true Bulgarian i would like to say thank you for all the compliments. Glad you liked the food, and there is a lot more than Sofia out there. And I have a question. Would you visit Bulgaria again?
We have another food tour coming out soon! And yes we spent 3 weeks there and loved it but there is still much more to see 😍
Thank you for the video. defenently made my day 😘 much better. I left my country in 2008, and I really miss our Bulgarian Traditional food, especially musala, pulneni shushki, Salat , and even simple plain rice with tomatoes that I use to eat at school ahh and Biskvitena torta, biscuits cake 🎂🎉❤ my kids are bourn in UK but they also like tarator, musaka the banica sus sirene and few other. my kids have visited only 2 times Bg they also love our beautiful sunny beach ⛱️😎❤ I miss it too
It’s definitely understandable! We miss food from home all the time ☺️
Great video! Very informative but fun 😊 thanks
Thank you for the kind words ❤️
Nice ! Boza and the "the cold cucumber soup" (tarator) are the two things that foreigners are not used to, im surprised. Very good content.
We love unique flavors! Truly liked both ☺️
I've ate "taratur" in Macedonia many times on holydays before when i was young (my mother family is from Skopje and Veles), and in summer when is hot the cold taratur cucumber garlic kiselo mleko with "tavče na gravče" is perfect...
Great video, thank you🎉
Thank you!
Glad you liked the foods you've tried. You should know street food is meant to be prepared and sold fast, it is a business after all. I can say this is not the best example. If you guys find a chance to try out the same foods but homemade, prepared with passion and dedication to the tradition you'll understand what I am talking about. There are still many places you can sit and eat good food though.
For this video we wanted to show street foods but we definitely ate at some restaurants in small towns and at some homemade places and loved the food. It was even better than the street food 😍
We are so glad we came across your channel. We are heading here soon and it’s great to get some insight amazing !! We have liked and subbed Chelsea and Mike
Thanks so much! You will love it so much! Glad to have helped ☺️
Well done guys 👏🤗😁👍✌

That was a great video! Im glad you like our city. I was actually making a shposka salad at home while watching this 😂I used to work as a waiter at the restaurant where you had it too haha
Haha we have had so many shopska salads since being in Bulgaria ☺️ and that’s great! Hopefully we picked a good place then 😂
Im so glad that you visited us sure the pronunciations were a bit off so i had fun with that 😂 You look like great people I hope you enjoyed it and would give a good word for us here love ya ❤ greetings from Ruse. Sirene on everything xD i had a Mexican gf and she said she havent tried such cheese like ours anywhere
Haha sorry about that we tried but Google failed us 😂😂 and your cheese is very unique!
I love the reactions to boza everyone has :)

Banitsa and Boza is traditional Bulgarian Breakfast. 🙂👌
It's nice to see outsiders enjoying our food. food is religion for most of us ( Bulgarian)
Loved the food!
Bulgarians have incredible food.
Agreed!
Good video - you can tell you guys did a decent amount of research
Thank you!! We try to do as much as possible ☺️
Hey guys, very possitive channel, wish you happy travels!
As a bulgarian I must say, you should find the best Shkembe soup and just try it. We love it so much there is even a "shkembe guide" site with a map of best and worst shkeme in Bulgaria :D
Ooh really? Where can we find the guide at?
i just realized how much us Bulgarians love our cheese, we put it in everything xD
We loved it as well!
You guys are very polite and cool. Keep it up, you’re awesome. Also your pronouncing is very good!
Aww thank you ❤️❤️
Im very happy from trie bulgarian food and next time go in Varna my town it s very beautiful and very near in the beach
Thank you! Shaun visited Varna while I was in Morocco, he said he really liked it there!
So, you guys were mostly in the general area of where I work and live in Sofia. I also frequent that location of skara-bar, and I love that they sell (ridiculously good) ribs by the kilo (45-ish bgn)😅
Also, after having lived and trained as a chef in Germany, when I moved back to Bulgaria and started working here, I was impressed, that even the smallest and also the shittiest places, pretty much everything is either made in house or bought from small(er) Shops, bakeries, veggie-shops, butchers, etc.
The food was so fresh we loved it and Skara Bar the meats were so flavorful 🤩
I 've never seen tzatziki in soup form! Being greek, every food looks familiar, although slightly different - I guess it's the same all over Balkans & the Orient!
Обичаме да ни хвалят храната и още повече баницата😊😊
🙌🏼🙌🏼
bulgarian here! my fave way to eat mekitsi is with honey and sirene/feta!
That sounds delicious!

07:36 normally people adding bread and onion and then they mixed and then you are making the form. You can make Kebapche or klufte(meatball - but flat).
I forgot to add egg.
I am glad that you liked our food next time try tarator
We had it in this video and it was delicious
I've never realised that we have so many foods with feta cheese, until I saw your video. :)
And there’s so many more we’ve tried too! 🤤
Feta is made from sheep milk I don't think anyone makes banica with sheep cheese.
Nice vide! Appriciate all the warm words! Just one thing - mekitza shpuld not be crispy, atleast not so much as one you bought from this particular store. Best mekitza could be found in little villages where cosideeably old people makes them. For foreigners may be mountain huts are best place to have good traditional mekitza. All the best! :)
That sounds delicious
😊😊😊
great video boza is not for everyone but we bulgarians love it and mostly whit banitsa, based on experts shopska salata (shop is basicaly how we call the people from sofia region :D) is the best salad on the world
Thanks so much and we completely understand! Shopska salad is definitely our new favorite!
You need to strongly shake Ayran before you drink it. Its great for washing the Banitsa down your throat. Its indeed a bit unhealthy breakfast cause of the cooking oil but at least there is nothing chemical or lab made inside both the meal and the drink. Its clean and its one of the best breakfasts you can get in Bulgaria on foot when you're on your way to work in the morning but you need to put something in your stomach fast. Good luck and stay safe. 😊
Go brave for tarator. No wallnuts in it!!! Well, try both with or without but imho with it sux big time!
We just tried it how they served it ☺️😂
21:22 I used to live near by
There is so much more to try here in Bulgaria :) and i recomend you to make a part two :) ♥ Patatnik, Musaka, Giovech and more... Musaka is best paired with Tarator :) :D
Part 2 is already out and has a lot of those in it! Go check it out 🙌🏼
You should try to eat the Banitsa while drinking the Airan the best combo ever. If you visit our Country again try it and you will see how much better it will be! Greetinngs from our country and welcome again! Much blessings for you and you'r family!
We did this in our next Bulgarian food tour video that will be out on Sunday 🎉
Tarator is a big thing, also try the airian after some sweating in the heat and when you are really thirsty, then you will understand the power of airian ; ) (actually the power of tarator is in the same conditions)
We believe it they were both delicious!
Yami, yami👍
😃
I'm from Bulgaria 🇧🇬
You need to try musaka, supa topcheta( meatball soup), and been soup. Actually cheese is translated sirene in Bulgarian.
We try two of those in our next Bulgarian food tour 👀 it’ll be out next week! ☺️
BTW respect for presentation 🎉❤❤❤❤
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Skara Bar is number one !
Glad you liked our food:) Come again:) We will give you some tips:))
Thank you!
Welcome to Bugeria 🇧🇬
Thank you!
You have to drink the yogurt drink while eating the banitsa, drinking it by itself may put you off a little when you try it for the first time, but once you get used to it, you will not be willing to eat your banitsa without it, also it is the best drink to have when it is hot and you are dehydrated.
That’s really good to know! Definitely eating the banitsa and drinking it I enjoyed the Ayran way more ☺️
the soup drinks a lot of rakiq 😂 nice one guys
Thank you 🙏🏻
Boza you must drink at the same time with banchnika :)
We will on our next food tour video!
Dunavia cheese is the Bulgarian version of the feta cheese. What you are eating is probably not even Bulgarian White cheese, but cottage cheese which is not exactly cottage but there is no other name for it, In Bulgarian it is called Izvara (Извара). They put it because it's cheaper but still tasty. There are some places where they specify what they put in, whether white cheese or cottage and most of the time when the banitsa is with white cheese it is more expensive.
the thing is the airan (айрян) is actually made from the Bulgarian traditional yogurt. this yogurt is actually sower and slarty and it's not like the yogurt all other countries know. it's basically a mix of this yogurt, whater and sometimes salt if needed
It was definitely unique
Българска версия на Фета сирене, хора моля ви :)
5:22 Well, while it's true that there are several mineral springs in Sofia, most public drinking fountains are hooked up to the municipal water supply, just like everywhere else. :D The most tourist-accessible mineral water springs are those by the former Central City Baths (now the Regional History Museum of Sofia, next to the exposed ruins of Serdica in the city center).
We stopped by those and the water was so warm it was awesome!
I loved your reaction after trying the banitsa. About a comment of yours about the airyan, it’s never meant to be sweetly. Nor adding milk nonetheless. Just pure water and maybe some salt. Depends on the taste of the consumer.
That makes sense we didn’t make it just drank some 😂 but we definitely had some that had fruit flavoring and was sweet, maybe from the fruit. The Banitsa was one of our favorite foods ever 😍
@@TheAdventuringArtists , I see. You said it yourself, fruit flavoring. As always, the sweet taste is the best one, isn’t it…😒 I mean for everyone…
Come over to Varna if you are still in Bulgaria!
