Thanks. I love my P290RS. In 2016, I took it through Tactical Response's Fighting Pistol (two days and about 800 rounds) and Advanced Fighting Pistol (two days and about 800 rounds).
Kim Townsel Nothing rude intended. Just trying to be concern that when the pistol performed faultlessly but you didn't, it wasn't due to some horrible event. That's all.
H.T.V. Blu Oh, okay. Just read it like my experience was mocked. :) Had my first tactical training in 2016 so I did not perform everything as perfectly as I wish I had. I have videos up about it. Happy Holidays!
Thank you for this video. Short and to the point. I own a P238 and carry it everyday. I also owned a Sig Pro 2340 (12 years) and traded it in for the P250 9mm 2Sum which I was able to pick up for under $600. I use the large frame with 17 rounds at home. I just ordered a Crossbreed IWB holster for the P250 and will start carrying is. I have the Sig pocket holster for my P238 which works well. It's so easy to break down the P250 and change frames. Keep up the good videos.
This is one of the best reviews I have ever seen. Great job. Too the point, fast with all the details and great video quality and camera placement. I think I'm gonna have to get rid of my LCP and get the Sig250cp. Thanks for the review.
Good way to put your point. I might change my mind one day but I'm not a collector or a hunter, only thinking personal self defense for now. I appreciate your input, expecially the way you put it.
Thanks Outdoor; With yours and others advise I've just about changed my mind. Gonna take a while to save enough but now my next purchase is probably gonna be a 357 mag revolver & later on - a second one for backup.
@ZZRgirl11 The P290 trigger is much better now, but still not as good as the P250. I do not think the double strike guns are any weaker, but the mechanism is a bit more complex. I have never had a failure issue with the P250's double strike trigger.
Just came from the range, (p290) & i loved it. I thought it would be harder to shoot with the small mag but to my surprise it was awesome. I traded my p228 "had over 10 years no problems" for the p290. Today was my first time shooting the p290 at 30 feet with a grouping of about 3 1/4 which is not bad at all. I'm no pro by any means, just a ccw holder :)
On the subject of double strike, SIG's engineering on the 250 is notable. Virtually all single stack DAOs require the slide to half cock the hammer, thus enabling a lighter trigger pull--it's technically not a full DA. With the P250 they managed a true DA with probably the smoothest trigger, and a comparatively light one at that.
No problem, I you have any questions, just message me. Charter arms makes a wonderful revolver for a guy on a budget. Ruger & S&W produce ASTONISHING firearms but they cost far more than most people on a budget are willing to pay.
I purchased the sig sauer P250c on gun auction last month for $257.00 and I also purchased a 40s&w SC conversion kit off of ebay for $275 with 3 magazines one 12+1 and the other two 13+1. I absolutely love both of these weapons I find that I can conceal both of then very easy and very comfortably, but the 40 subcompact it's much easier to conceal without any printing or anything the P250c conceals well too without any printing but I prefer 40 Smith and Weston subcompact because it's much more comfortable and I carry appendix carry
I really like that P290. I haven't had a chance to handle one yet. Too bad about the trigger kinda disappointing. Love to see a comparison to a PM9. Thanks for sharing!
@MrCleanerNash The trigger is my biggest problem with the P290. It just plain sucks...and what is the deal with no double strike??? It can't be because of the size. My Rohrbaugh and Seecamp are smaller and they have double strike.
Why? I own a P250C and prefer my trigger over my roommates 1911 or XDS. I feel like I have a lot more control over exactly when I fire, and the pull, albeit long, is incredibly consistent and smooth. I don't really understand why people have a problem with DAO triggers unless they simply haven't fired a quality trigger.
Thanks for the review.....if only I could find either! Pickings are slim these days. Looking for a carry gun. I appreciate your thoughts on these two! Also, I'm right handed, but shoot lefty, golf lefty, dribble lefty...well you get it.... It's not really an issue on a handgun most of the time. People are rude.
I love my P250s. The DAO trigger is great. I just got an SP2022 and it is a more traditional Sig DA/SA. The SP2022 also breaks down very weirdly. It is much harder to get apart and put back together. Many people have referred to the SP2022 as the "poor man's P226" and it does feel that way. I love my P226 and the SP2022 feels almost identical, but I think that the grip is a bit smaller.
I just picked up a new P290 nitron finish with laser, night sites and 2 mags (6 and 8 rd capacity) at Academy for $499. Looking forward to shooting it but I'm not sure I'll like the DAO. I love the DA/SA on my Sig Pro 2022, also 9mm, but we'll see.
Thanks for the video. I have a P290 and love it. I have the 6 and 8 round mag, with the 8 roud the P290 feels like a much bigger gun than it is because it fits the hand better due to the longer mag. My only complaint about it is that the laser turns itself on in my pocket, I wish the mechanism/switch was a bit better... those batteries are pircey. Anyway, I've had the gun for about 6 months now, never had a problem with it at the range with different types of ammoe, either. Thanks again!
Good point but for a while with this latest scare I could not find any handgun at all so over time I'll try and buy enough of that one caliber so for the next scare it won't be a problem. Just my 2 cents for now. Might change my mind one day but for now I'd like to have only one to stock up on and keep up with. If you could have every gun shoot 357 mag (impossible I know) and still like each gun, would you consider doing same then?
@YokoWenis Yes, the P250 is very concealable. The P290 is even more so but it is NOT fun to shoot. Just like my Rohrbaugh and Seecamp LWS380. They are not guns for fun. They serve a very specific tactical purpose.
I just purchased the p290rs a couple of weeks ago. I really like it but it was having lite strike issues. i contacted sig and they sent me a fed ex label right away.lets hope the problem gets corrected.
I've shot another gun that had double strike capability and ftf rounds all the time... Taurus 709. All the striker fired and non double strike capable guns never had that problem... Are the firing mechanisms just weaker by design? That's a good comparison between the 250sc and the 290. Didn't know the triggers were that much different... Good to know.
@23mrcowboys by human error and limp wristing they're talking about you twisting your elbow and/or wrist allowing the gun to fly up thus you dont feel a thing, which alot of ppl do without realising it,however this leads to the action in the gun not being able to use the recoil forces it needs to cycle, the blowback if you will,so holding your gun tighter might fix the problem, you mightve already know all that, but just fyi
Douglas Dellefemine You pretty much nailed the key difference in the first two words. Yours is a P290RS, RS meaning restrike. The early Sig P290 models were known for not only a lack of a second strike capability but also a light hammer strike, so failures to fire were not uncommon. Sig revamped the gun and is now sold as the P290RS. So you're probably right. What is in the video is more likely a early model 290, while yours is the upgraded and currently sold P290RS :D
K, your vid mentioned hard primers that didnt fire on the first shot. Was that the 290 that didn't fire, and just got cycled out? The 709 sucks in that regard cause even the 2nd pull didn't fire... Won't try another one of them, that's for sure.
filoIII The 15 rd mag is just marked sig p250 9mm made in Italy so i don't know the UPC code or anything but they came with a "slip on" plastic grip extender (which I don't use)... you can also put a sig p250 .40 cal slide on the 9mm with the same frame / fire control assembly and fire .40 cal (with the proper mags) I think .357 sig works the same way. I have yet to take advantage/test this myself, however. Be safe and happy shooting!
I am trying to find a .357 sig to pocket carry. Is the p250 a realiztic option? The p224 seems way to big. I supposse the Glock 33 is the closest option? I am not a big fan of .380 and just really want to make the .357 work. Might have to settle for a 9mm or a revolver.Thoughts?
Yup, that's why cowboys and Indians- did it. That's why our military uses NATO standard rounds and that's why our troops use the 249 SAW - it uses the same bullets as the M-4. Tom, take it from me. If you get a completely different caliber, eventually you get hooked and gotta have more. You could even try to save about 1500 and get a Thompson semi-auto and use the same .45. It's a whole nother animal in a longer barrel -200 plus yards.
Glad you made this video. I thought the 290 was simply a single-stack version of the 250. Big difference! No double strike in a hammer gun? Inconsistent trigger? Bleh! Loving my 250c
And there was not the same large selection of good self-defense calibers back then, either. There was .44, .45 Colt, .45 Schofield, .38, .45-70, .30-30, and a few others -- and very few of them would work in both a rifle and a pistol. Plus, those cowboys did not have to worry about panic-buyers snatching up every box of ammo from the stores every time there is a rumor that ammunition and guns are going to be banned.
I’d like your opinion, either in comment here or you address this as a topic in a video; currently I have one pistol, compact .45acp and one bond arms derringer also in .45acp. I’d like to buy a revolver and am trying to decide whether to stay with one caliber for all my handguns (45acp) or go with a revolver chambered in what’s considered a traditional revolver caliber (357, 44mag and so on). What are your thoughts on this?
LOL, I'm a lefty but the only gun that gives me problems is a 1911 without ambi safety, hard to carry cocked and locked, other than that I can operate just about any pistol just fine
bought a p290rs recently. had trouble jamming on some imported ammo. anyone else have this problem? returned to company. basically they said find ammo that works
i think the one caliber mindset comes from people who think there will be an event/SHTF where they will want everything to "work together".. yet they didn't anticipate the limited availability of ammo like we are seeing now. I specifically purchased different calibers so no matter what ammo i run across ill have a platform to use it with.. shooting is a cheap hobby, said nobody, ever. So if anyone wants to get rid of some ammo.. ill take it..I dont care what caliber!
That’s the usual reply from someone who already has several different calibers. Try looking at it from perspective of - your finances are limited and if lucky, one day you might be able to buy just one more gun and you want a revolver. Try to think of advantages of only one caliber. I’ve been told that’s one of the reason’s cowboys had a lever action rifle that used same bullets as their handgun. They didn’t have to carry and keep up with two sets of different caliber bullets.
no way! thats like asking "don't you wish all drinks taste like tea and come in different containers?". If you are shooting paper.. maybe all one caliber is fine.. but keep in mind different calibers are for different jobs.. most wouldn't shoot a rat with a .50AE.. and most wouldn't defend themselves with a .22. If all you are looking for is personal defense - pick a 9mm/357/40/10mm/45/etc.. and stock up on it.. if you are a collector.. break out the check book and buy a variety!
When you post "The 290 stovepipes", and you mean to post "The 290 can stovepipe if fired with a limp grip", you are being deceiving - don't you think? The truth is that both the 290 AND the 250 CAN stovepipe, and they are both the same as far as sensitivity to a limp wrist.
+Pete Vatistas watch Tactiholics shoot a 320 (same as 250) with TWO fingers! He tried to make it stovepipe, but couldn't do it... Watch Sig 320 Limp wrist failure test by Tactiholics if you don't believe me.
I can look at it from that standpoint but I still don't understand why you would stick to .45acp.... If you buy a .357 which an also fire .38 both .357 and .38 are cheaper than .45acp..... So if you are worried about money, it would be smarter to buy a .357 revolver than a .45, Also it would be cheaper, .45 is not common in a revovler you will pay more for a quality revolver than you would for a .357
There is a big difference in size, but the P290 I tried, the trigger pull SUCKED! My P250 has a VERY smooth, light trigger pull, but I just couldn't belive how crappy the trigger pull was on the P290.
I really think that the p290 needs to add a better trigger, add a double strike, and shave off about 200$.... I mean, compared to the p250, you're literally paying twice the money for half of the gun... Even if size is a big selling point, I don't get why the smaller gun costs 33% more to make...
Politically, I'm a Righty; Shooting wise, I'm a Lefty. Over the years I have learned that my main problem with being 'wrong-handed' is that I stand on the wrong side of the gun.
DID YOU REALLY SAY, "IT WOULD 'VE WENT OFF" ?! I EXPECT POOR ENGLISH GRAMMAR FROM OTHER GUN GURUS, BUT NOT FROM YOU. SPEAK SLOWER AND GET YOUR WORDS RIGHT, PLEASE.
Thanks. I love my P290RS. In 2016, I took it through Tactical Response's Fighting Pistol (two days and about 800 rounds) and Advanced Fighting Pistol (two days and about 800 rounds).
Did it perform faultlessly?
H.T.V. Blu It did; I didn't. :)
H.T.V. Blu What do you mean by those remarks? Looks pretty rude, stranger.
Kim Townsel Nothing rude intended. Just trying to be concern that when the pistol performed faultlessly but you didn't, it wasn't due to some horrible event. That's all.

Good way to put your point. I might change my mind one day but I'm not a collector or a hunter, only thinking personal self defense for now. I appreciate your input, expecially the way you put it.
The P250 has an awesome DAO trigger. Can you not shoot a DA trigger properly?
Once again a great review. Thanks a bunch Yankee!!
Thanks Outdoor; With yours and others advise I've just about changed my mind. Gonna take a while to save enough but now my next purchase is probably gonna be a 357 mag revolver & later on - a second one for backup.

@TheGunfighter45acp I think a lot of people did not realize the difference. Many people have never held either gun. They have just seen pics.

HEY, IM A LEFTY! AND I HAVE BEEN WATCHING YOUR VIDEO'S SINCE THE BEGINNING!
looking for after market magazines for the P250sc. I have one 12 round mag that came with it, but 53 bucks for a magazine is crazy!
@23mrcowboys I can't say that mine has that issue. What size and caliber is your p250?
Nevermind just found your comparison vid to a PM40...hehe
My P290RS does have double strike capability, perhaps it's an older one (?)
Keep up the good posts.
Douglas Dellefemine You pretty much nailed the key difference in the first two words. Yours is a P290RS, RS meaning restrike. Get me one too...sauce only, no relish.
I'd like to see this P250 sub versus your p238 in a size comparison.
The P250 is just about 4 oz heavier than a Glock 27. That is hardly a noticeable difference.
Sweet thing about the 250sc is the magazine size. 12+1 for the .40, 12+1 for the .380, but strangely only 10+1 for the 9mm....
filoIII The 15 rd mag is just marked sig p250 9mm made in Italy so i don't know the UPC code or anything but they came with a "slip on" plastic grip extender (which I don't use)... you can also put a sig p250 .40 cal slide on the 9mm with the same frame / fire control assembly and fire .40 cal (with the proper mags) I think .357 sig works the same way. I have yet to take advantage/test this myself, however. Be safe and happy shooting!
I can't imagine wanting to shoot a gun smaller than the P250, which is very concealable in the first place.
But if things were to ever go bad why would you want all your guns out of commission because you run out of one caliber of ammo and cannot find more?
I am trying to find a .357 sig to pocket carry. Is the p250 a realiztic option? The p224 seems way to big. I supposse the Glock 33 is the closest option? I am not a big fan of .380 and just really want to make the .357 work. Might have to settle for a 9mm or a revolver.Thoughts?
Yup, that's why cowboys and Indians- did it. That's why our military uses NATO standard rounds and that's why our troops use the 249 SAW - it uses the same bullets as the M-4. Tom, take it from me. Perfect video my friend. Well done!
Glad you made this video. I thought the 290 was simply a single-stack version of the 250. Big difference! No double strike in a hammer gun? Inconsistent trigger? Bleh! Loving my 250c
I'm debating the Sig p290 with restrike or a Kahr cm9
They redid the p290 with restrike capabilities. I have one and the trigger is great now. I haven't shot a p250 but it's probably on par now.
Can you pleas make a field strip video of the 290?
I think i would like the SIG p259 nire that the P290.
Greetings from Holland.

can you make a comparison video between the sig p290 and the m@p shield?
Man what I always thought of what "much smaller" is 100% different.
Is the p290rs trigger improved from the 1st gen? I held one at the store but didn't pull the trigger. I really like my p250s.
I’d like your opinion, either in comment here or you address this as a topic in a video; currently I have one pistol, compact .45acp and one bond arms derringer also in .45acp. Tym u still feel the same way about the kahr vs the sig. Since had to send back to the factory?
What about the newer P290rs vs P250?
Hi there, p290 or glock 42? You critized the trigger, but all things considered which one of these two you prefer? Thanks in advance.
LOL, I'm a lefty but the only gun that gives me problems is a 1911 without ambi safety, hard to carry cocked and locked, other than that I can operate just about any pistol just fine
The trigger on the 320 is so much better than the 250, in my opinion. Striker is nicer than DAO*
bought a p290rs recently. had trouble jamming on some imported ammo. anyone else have this problem? returned to company. basically they said find ammo that works
dont forget p 250 is completely left friendly! (only exiting for leftys)
i think the one caliber mindset comes from people who think there will be an event/SHTF where they will want everything to "work together".. yet they didn't anticipate the limited availability of ammo like we are seeing now. What about p239 and p938?????
I am not a fan of aluminum frames like the P239 has and the P938 is riddled with "new gun" issues.
The 290 stovepipes, whereas, the 250 won't even if you try and force it to stovepipe. high bore axis*
+Justin Weaver Have you tried different ammo, or squeezing a little harder with your weak hand?
+Pete Vatistas I have never made them stovepipe... I'm just saying that women/people with weak grips CAN cause them to stovepipe.
Is that a gen one or two?
I can look at it from that standpoint but I still don't understand why you would stick to .45acp.... If you buy a .357 which an also fire .38 both .357 and .38 are cheaper than .45acp..... So if you are worried about money, it would be smarter to buy a .357 revolver than a .45, Also it would be cheaper, .45 is not common in a revovler you will pay more for a quality revolver than you would for a .357
There is a big difference in size, but the P290 I tried, the trigger pull SUCKED! My P250 has a VERY smooth, light trigger pull, but I just couldn't belive how crappy the trigger pull was on the P290.
that p290 looks sexy
Single or double stack mags?
@23mrcowboys hmmmm...I assume they are thinking you might be limp wristing pretty badly.
good good good. just what i wanted to know.
I really think that the p290 needs to add a better trigger, add a double strike, and shave off about 200$.... I mean, compared to the p250, you're literally paying twice the money for half of the gun... Even if size is a big selling point, I don't get why the smaller gun costs 33% more to make...
@23mrcowboys you have the 1st generation of Sig P250. i would sell it and buy a 2nd gen P250.
apples to oranges?
oh and nice review :)
The Kahr trigger is better.
Politically, I'm a Righty; Shooting wise, I'm a Lefty. Over the years I have learned that my main problem with being 'wrong-handed' is that I stand on the wrong side of the gun.
Screw those freaks. They are natures little embarrassment.
It is better, but still not up to par with the P250 and nowhere close to a Kahr.
238 and 290 models are closer in size
A long double action trigger gun is too slow for follow ups for me to consider for EDC.
really?
I have a single shot one. Not fun.
Not in my opinion. Way too big for pocket carry.
238 is smaller than 250 :)
I've seen a 45-70 revolver. I wouldn't shoot the monster.
Who cares what you think. You are obviously a lefty. You are lucky your parents didn't sel you to the circus when you were young.
Blocking you on this screenname just like i did your other one. Get a life.
Gmod gun
DID YOU REALLY SAY, "IT WOULD 'VE WENT OFF" ?! I EXPECT POOR ENGLISH GRAMMAR FROM OTHER GUN GURUS, BUT NOT FROM YOU. SPEAK SLOWER AND GET YOUR WORDS RIGHT, PLEASE.
Racist? More than usual hateful? Ebomey lover? We NEED to know.
