Some old guy once said 9mm is so powerful it literally blows the lungs out of the body
The stupidest thing ever heard at a gunshop is you have to wait X number of days to have your purchase.
Yeah, it's stupid, but unfortunately true in some states.
Yep, welcome to California…..
@thomaseynon6205 40 years ago, we had a five day waiting period. Then they changed it to if you had a carry license, you didn't have to wait. Then they did away with it all together. I'm in Indiana.
@@josephhiggins7216 here in California, with a Concealed Carry, or not - you are given a 10 day waiting period for each purchase.
Behind the lines in illinois
The LAST thing Im looking for in a Gun Shop is Unsolicited Advise. If I have a question about something, I will ask it - and usually to another Patron, not an employee. Gun Shop Employee's dont know Sh*t !!!
Older dude came into the range I worked at. Got him checked in for the range, and he asked me for a bandaid before he headed in. I asked him why he needed a bandaid if he wasn't bleeding.
His response: "Well, you know. Your left hand thumb gets cut when you shoot."
I tried to explain why he was getting cut, and he cut me off with "Son, I've been shooting longer than you've been alive."
So I sent him out to the range to mangle his hand again. Can't help everyone.
I'm surprised that he never sees people around him without bloody thumbs!
Some people can't handle the fact that "I've been doing it for 40 years" can mean you've been doing it wrong for 40 years.
Devils advocate… maybe he was planning on shooting a pistol that has hammer bite. Like a Hi-Power with the original style hammer, not the bobbed style. Or some of the older Lugers and 1911’s without a beaver-tail can also really get the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger. Even with proper grip, some folks hands have more “meat” in this area and the bandaid put on before can help mitigate the hammer bite. Or, maybe he was just an old codger who is set in his ways gripping the pistol incorrectly. Who knows lol
I heard a gun store employee tell a female customer they could order a left-handed S&W J frame revolver.
I had a guy teaching a woman to cross her thumb behind the slide.
Tried to correct, before she got hurt.
His response? "I'm an NRA instructor."
I once saw a numbnuts customer inspecting a pistol at the counter who was pointing the muzzle right at another customer who was open carrying. The second customer very directly says "Stop pointing that at me", to which the first customer sez something like "Chill, it's not loaded" and continued to point it at the second customer. Second customer now loudly says "STOP POINTING THAT GUN AT ME" and puts his hand on his holstered revolver. You should have seen the gun store employees face as he told to the first customer he probably should hand back the firearm he was holding. That was tense. Of course both customers maintained that they were right in the situation. No gun rules failure or overreaction occurred, according to each of the respective customers.
Not a local gun shop but a large sporting goods store. I tried to buy 30-06 ammo and the clerk handed me a box of 308 ammo. I told him that I wanted 30-06 ammo but he said 308 will work just fine because it is 30 caliber as well.
😲
I was looking at an antique Remington derringer, 41 Rimfire. This was in the mid 90s so there was some Navy Arms ammo from Brazil floating around. I asked him if he had ammo for the derringer and he plunked down a box of 41 mag.
wow! that is insane!! haha
So stupid. Hope the store educated this clown
He clearly doesn't know guns at all...
Two dumbest comments came from customers during the pandemic. 1st one bought his first pistol and a box of hollow point ammo. He looked at the hollow points and thought they were "used" bullets. 2nd came after new buyer pays for his first pistol. The clerk asked himif he needed ammo. His response was "You mean this gun isn't loaded?!"
I had a gun shop employee say he didn’t know S&W made revolvers
Different trip, same shop: when a double action trigger was mentioned, a customer said “oh yeah. My friend had one of those in 9mm. Pull the trigger once and it shoots twice”
LOLOL
Late 2000s, large Florida gun shop-retail, had to explain to a employee how M&P magazine safety designs work 🤷🏼♂️ ....
I have a friend who bought a 357 mag revolver who bought 357 SIG ammo. Of course he was fairly new and it was an honest mistake. I wound up trading him 357 mag ammo for the SIG ammo. And I did it even though I don't have a 357 SIG. Because the store refused to take the ammo back. In fact I still have that ammo. And its been 15 years.
Sounds like it's well past time you bought your 357 sig. Power arguments aside, necked bullets just feed better.
I was in a pawn shop when a customer was looking at a single action revolver and said it was broken because the hammer didn't move when tried pulling the trigger.
I had someone tell me that he carries a .45 because, and I quote, "9mm turns in a random direction at 27 feet." I know that is the exact quote because it was so stupid that I had to write it down.
L M F A O 😂😂😂
That was stupid, everyone knows they turn in random directions at 28 feet.
The what?
Probably something about crossing below the sound barrier but thats a precision rifle thing lol
Manager at the Academy gun counter was on his soap box about how when he runs a background check he should also be able to see your medical history for safety.
Early 2000s I had a NW Florida area redneck jerk-off in a gun shop yip-yap 🤬 on how G security could NOT use .38spl JHPs. 🤔 FS493 FDACS.gov clearly explains what G security officers are & are not allowed to carry on posts. Homer G Goober ended with "we don't play THAT game"! 😆
I just wish some people that work at gun stores can admit they don’t know everything.
This is probably why I can't get a job in a local gunshop 😢
Some really do....most of them just jumping between jobs and landed there until something better comes along sure don't. You can tell the difference usually who is legit and who the DEI hires or felt sorry for them were/are.
"Ah no, I don't have my drivers license, Oh, but here, I have my marijuana card."
You guessed it, California.
aw damn i was gonna guess Colorado LOL
Aww damn, I was gonna guess Michigan...
The owner of the shop stating a 45 acp will flip a grown man if you hit him in the hand!😂
"Women should only shoot revolvers" 😂
Thanks!
I once overheard a guy behind the counter at Sportsman's Warehouse telling a customer that if you concealed carry in CA with a round in the chamber and 10 in the magazine, you were violating the "high capacity magazine" law.
How about TH-cam shadow banning anything remotely "technical" or very detailed involving guns, ammo/reloading/bullet casting/cleaning/repair etc etc. That's the "dumbest" thing I have ever heard.
Saw a guy trade a pistol so it would fit the new $15 holster he bought! Both pistol and holster same day!
Indoor range and gun store I used to work in. Had a customer buy a j fame .38 with the 1 7/8" barrel. He went back on the range with a box of our ammo. Came back to the counter 15 minutes declaring quite loudly that the gun and ammo were crap and demanded his money back. He said nobody could hit anything over 3 feet away with it. I went back with him. I put 5 rounds in the 10 ring at 50 feet. Double action. He never said a word. Just packed up the gun and ammo and left. I heard he came back later and signed up for a class.
NOT a beginners pistol. 😆
@johnmorganjr769 some folks just won't listen when you try to tell them that.
standing in a walmart that sold guns so i'm counting it. went there at midnight to buy a new game, had an employee tell me with a straight face they couldn't sell me something because tomorrow doesn't start till 6am
Reminds me of when I tried to buy beer in a 7 11 and the clerk told me my ID was fake because my DOB was 2/29. He insisted there is never 29 days in Feb. Sorry, my immigrant friend but there is every 4 years.
@@BirdDogey1 So you only age at 25%?!?😯
@@aldousorwell3807 I was even in my military uniform. Sometimes people are so stupid you can't even get mad at them. It isn't their fault.
@@BirdDogey1 Indeed.😂
...Maybe you need to carry a Leap Year Calendar along with your ID, to educate the Special Ed Kids who permeate our society.🥴
...Probably not worth the effort, but I'd die from laughter if I saw such a transaction in a store.😂
@BirdDogey1 2000-2002 had a nitwit apt mgr boss from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. Americans don't know anything! 🤨 Apparently there are 53 US states! 😆
The guy behind the counter giving me crap for choosing 40 over 9mm
9mm is a cult
Happened to me as well.
I remember having a .40 PX4 Storm sent to my LGS from their site. The minute I walked in, the guy stopped me and asked, before we do this, you wanted a forty right?’
‘Yeah.’
‘Good.’
He mentioned he’s had people do that a couple times in the past.
I always go with 40 and then buy a 9 conversion barrel and mags. And then buy a .357 sig barrel for it. 1 gun 3 ammo choices. Back in the last major ammo shortage you were much more likely to find 40 or 357 sig on the shelf than 9mm. I like options.
I was at a pawnshop and some kid came in talking about how he wants to do the coat hanger trick to turn an AR-15 full auto and was asking exactly how to do it. I asked if he knew who I was, he said no. I told him that if I had been an ATF agent he would have been F*CKED.
To be fair the ATF is so overwhelmed you probably won’t ever run into one…
Overheard an employee talking to a first-time gun buyer looking at a shotgun, guy said 'It's hard to miss with something like this' followed up with him racking it saying 'that sound is enough to deter any would be intruder'
Had a LGS worker tell me I didn't want a G31(357Sig) because 9mm is "superior bullet thats why the police use it"😂 I assured him I wanted the G31 but he persisted about how "deadly 9mm is"! I asked him if he ever actually "had to use 9mm in self defense" and of course he didn't. Then I asked if he could just please order my G31 Blue Label and he said "that's only for Law Enforcement"! I replied that wasn't entirely true but luckily for me I'm former LEO and I qualify for the purchase and the reason why I only carry 357Sig or 357 Mag is because I personally experienced the failure of 9mm when me and my partner needed it to work!😂
I laugh 😁 .... reminds me of the young LGS guy mid 2000s explaining how "only federal agents" 🕵🏻♂️ come in asking about DAK models, SIG pistols in DAK format. Really? I smiled.....
@DavidLLambertmobile LGS' are literally hit or miss!🤣
Yeah. The 9mm isn't know to be "superior", it is only known for it being cheaper and low recoil and not much of a perceivable difference to the studies. But I am sticking to 9mm until another caliber takes it's place for it being affordable.
@killertruth186 I'd agree, in 2025 the 9mm +P is on the same general level as a .40 or .357sig but a 10mm or .45acp does offer a bit more 🥊 .... few ccw users or gun owners tote magnum revolvers in 2020s but a 9mm +P is ✔️ ....
this happened a while back, went in and asked if they had anything in .327 was told point blank I must mean .357 because there is no such thing as .327
YUP! Been There, Done That! And it was at one of those gs that caters to tacticool military kind of folks. Never did feel super comfortable in that place.
Loved the owner & her hubby, they treated me well. But the counter help had attitudes!
Went to a gun store that will remain anonymous, and purchased the only .50 boresnake on display. Guy got curious at the counter so i told him all my .45 stuff is too small, too loose in the bore. Completed purchase and walked thru the new inventory of crate ammo, overheard them whispering "did he just buy that for 45?" and subsequent incoherent mutterings. Turns out it is just about perfect in between rounds of slug polishing .452 and .458 carbines, the best way to minimize lead.
Not in a gun store but, I had been discussing my current concealed carry guns with a rarely seen family member by marriage. After showing them what my next possible purchase for that purpose would be I was told, "You don't want that. You should get a Desert Eagle .44. I shot one once. It's pretty powerful."
Yeah, I'd like to go from an LCR to THAT. Sounds like a plan!
Not for nothing, Paul Harrell used that Sig ammo in a Sig gun anecdote a few years ago. Same calibers involved as well. RIP Paul.
A gun store employee overheard me offering to loan a friend (who I knew was definitely not a violent felon) a couple hundred dollars to buy a nicer gun than she was initially looking at and freaked out, accusing me of trying to peform a straw purchase.
Straw purchases happen all the time. Unfortunately, the dealers get blamed too often and lose or have their license and livelihood suspended. It's important to see their side of the issue on this.
@ I don’t think this man actually knew what a straw purchase was though. He just kept saying that you’re not allowed to buy a gun for someone else which isn’t true if you know the person can legally have the gun. I pointed out that she was still going to be the purchaser and was going to have the background check done on her but he wouldn’t let it go. We ended up leaving the store. I don’t think he was the owner, just an under informed person working there.
Employee has no logic. You could have just as easily went outside and gave your friend money. A loan is a loan, no matter where it occurs, so long as both parties agree. A personal loan between two parties is not any business of a gun store employee. The guy who takes possession of the firearm via 4473 is responsible for what happens to the firearm, not the guy who loaned him money. However, next time keep your personal loans personal; to not freak out the unlearned.
@GuitarNewby Try telling that logic to the BATFE. Maybe they will go easier under Trump, but they were unreasonable oppressive devils under Joe Biden. Many dealers might assume the people in question were paid informants or some other set up man. They sell guns for a living not for your pleasure and entertainment and they don't want to go to jail over someone else's perceived indiscretion.
@@jameslohr4943 I was in a Dunham's with my Uncle, who wanted to buy a cheap pump shotgun. He was having trouble remembering which model my other Uncle had bought previously and recommended to him as a good deal for the price. I was naming off cheap pump shotguns that I knew of that were currently on the market, to see if any of them rang a bell. The only clerk in the gun department, a very young looking dude with emo hair and his nails painted black said "No Straw Purchasing!🥴 You guys need to leave before I call the cops!!😡" I tried to explain to him that both my Uncle and I had CPL's, the gun was for him, and would be purchased by him, and simply discussing someone else's previous purchase was irrelevant. He wasn't trying to hear any logic. So I asked to speak to the manager. He declared that He WAS The Manager, and again demanded that we leave. And he proceeded to spaz out and call us "Dumb *Rednecks" ...in Michigan* (probably due to my Uncle's MAGA Hat). So my Uncle declared him to be a "Little F____t!" and we left.😂
"What do you mean I can't buy it because I'm from California? Then I'll just have my buddy buy it."
"You can zero your 300WBY with 300WIN and save some money." -Yes, we had customers come from Academy trying to shoot on the range like this.
"I need more 9mm blanks."
"We don't sell blanks."
"Yes you do, they are right there behind you!"
"Ma'am, all of that is live ammo. We do not stock ANY blanks. If it recoiled, you launched lead."
-courtesy of an Air Force Captain. She left pissed off.
If you think you have heard stupid while you are in a shop, work a shop for a couple of years. Your definition of stupid will have to be adjusted.
This happens in any job were you serve a person anything !
I was the manager of a farm store Gun shop and I have heard every stupid thing that anyone could come up with.
The best was when a guy from East Saint Louis explained to me how he was going to steal the guns.
I called the local police and they talked to him and they informed him that if he robbed the store he would be arrested and prosecuted.
They took him outside and turned him loose.
Buying a fn one time years ago and the guy next to me was looking at a glock 17 and he asked the guy behind the desk if the gun was good at headshots. After he left i said might want to have the paperwork ready for the judge lol
Lol
Yankee said something a few videos back about a "squirrely guy" coming into a shop and did a realistic impersonation of him that made me laugh too!
"When I finally get this they are gonna be sorry!" Or something along those lines! Lol
Yeah, don't sell "that" guy a gun today folks. Haha
I was in an LGS some years ago and a woman was buying a semi auto shotgun for her husband. She asked the clerk how it worked to which he replied, "it's gas operated."
Her reply? "Where do you put the gas in?" 😅😅😅
That's how about 98% of women used to be with firearms prior to around 2008/10ish.
"Ninja chick" is new and formally unheard of. The only women who used to be around guns or the culture/environment were the ones FORCED to be by their husbands and boyfriends and they didn't come willingly....... "Jerry can we go now...PLEASE?" Eyerolls and squabbles starting.....
A gun store clerk told me that .380 was a good self-defense round with all the modern technology. He then showed me his everyday carry .380. I did not have the heart to try and bust his bubble, and asked if I could get a look at a 1911 Government model chamber in 45 Auto.
The “Vietnam vet “ who claims he preferred a captured AK because it could also shoot 556.
When people say you don’t need to clean a Glock but every 1-2k rds.
Manual states to clean it brand new before shooting.
Glock armorers, LE dept armorers gunsmiths suggest do a full take down cleaning, check of Glocks; 1x per year. Some small parts might be broken or ready to fail. CLP or grit, dirt might be stuck in a part; upper or frame too.
@@DavidLLambertmobile
The caked crud is toast with Birchwood Casey Synthetic Safe Gunscrubber or the Lucas equivalent. No need to tear apart a frame when you can just hose it out with some light Q-tip and toothbrush scrubbing.
This one is number one for me.. When the guy at the counter is telling the customer the gun that they should buy. Personal preference can ruin a first time buyer
We try not to answer when they ask us what we like or carry. When someone brings their friend for their first gun we hardly ever sell them one. Because friend wants them to buy what they like instead. Glock people are the absolute worst.
Dumbest thing I was asked at a gun shop was "what're you gonna do with those 10mm?" I was thinking "what else? Loading it and shooting it?"
i work in an LGS. an older lady had wanted to see a 380 and i was showing her one while another customer walked up and said "you don't want a 380. they bounce off clothing. you want a 22lr. those can really do some damage".
Haha
Overheard a gunshop owner telling a friend in the dinner that the customer he referred 'was a little weird, but he had a lot of money. "
For me its when they hand you a 4473 form to fill, asking permission to exercise a constitutionally protected right doesn't seem right or feel right
I wasn't actually there at "the moment" it happened but showed up a few days later as a regular trip and pitstop on the way home from work. I used to stop at that particular gun shop and shooting range on the way home a few times a week every week just to check in and talk/look around. It was right on the way home and I passed right by it everyday going to and from work. A elderly guy with terminal cancer came in and rented a 1911 .45 for an hour. He went out on the range and chambered one round and turned the gun on himself. He aimed at his head and pulled the trigger ending his life. The men handled it much better than the women and kids who were there that had to witness it. It was quite the mess being it was a .45 ACP and pointblank. That was the most stupid thing I ever heard at a gun shop by far. They ended up closing a few years later which sucked because it was a nice shop and indoor shooting range close by I frequented A LOT! I purchased a lot of guns, ammo, knives and accessories there too.
I've been going to the same local gun store for 45 years for 99% of my purchases. Never heard anything stupid in all those years.
Went to a big box store, after listening to an employee, give erroneous information to another customer, I turned around and walked out.
I once heard a police officer say in a gun shop that he wished he could carry a .38 special because they were more deadly. I asked how's that? He said .38 special tumbled after leaving the barrel thus doing more damage. 😂🤔
I was in a Gun shop once and someone said some guy named David Atkinson was some kind of gun expert.😂😂
Years ago, a "friend" offered to show me his new rifle that he'd just bought... said he hadn't even shot it yet. I asked him what it was and he replied, "It's a high power." I said, "oh, a Browning High Power, those are nice pistols." He looked at me funny and said, "No, it's a rifle... a high power." Confused, I then asked him what caliber and he replied, "It's a high power." Turns out it was a cheap-0 bolt action 308, I don't even remember what brand. Years later I ran into him again and while catching up on old times I noticed a scar on the back of his thumb. I asked him what happened and he explained that he had accidently shot himself while cleaning his Glock 9mm... That was the last time I saw him... hope he's ok...
One of the dumbest things over the years that I’ve seen/heard at a gun shop… An older employee telling a customer that “hollow-point ammo explodes when it hits a bad guy, and then it causes peoples skin to vaporize’’. Nutty lol
The stupidest thing I heard in a store ,the gun store employee and said if your a NRA lifetime member you don't need a permit to carry
HOW??? How did you not laugh to death on the phone? 😂
Had a shop employee tell myself and a friend to, "Just ignore what the law says".
Not in a gun shop, but I knew a guy who thought any gun could shoot any caliber.
One real one actually could....Thompson Contender!
As a young Army MP 1990, read a LE only text book. 1 section had a brief story on a police academy cadet who washed his revolver in a washing machine! 🤨
Usually I'm the one saying the stupid things so this doesn't really apply to me 🤣🤣
The stupidest thing I ever heard. this gun is not loaded😂
He fell in love I think with a pistol.I think is a chunk of shit and almost said so. Then I thought hell its not my business if he wants to waste $500 . he'll figure it out and my guess is he will say it himself one day.
Dumbest thing Ive heard was 2 guys talking about prepping for SHTF. One guy said “I have a 308 and a 500rd case of ammo.” And the second guy, the owner, goes “Thats nice, but what are you going to use on Day 2?”
Your making some good videos and interesting content lately… Great job!
They told me that if I added a manual safety to my P365 Fuse that it would void the warranty! EVERY P365 series fire control unit accepts a manual safety lever in less than 30 seconds. The Fuse grip module is just an XMacro grip module with LASER stippling added. There are two versions of the XMacro grip module. One version that directly accepts a manual safety lever and one that does not. But you can also thin the XMacro or Fuse grip module to the same thickness as a P365 or P365 XL grip module around the manual safety lever and cut the notches and the manual safety lever will fit. Even if Sig stated that adding a manual safety to a P365 Fuse would void the warranty, it WOULD NOT HOLD UP IN COURT! FYI, I added the manual safety lever.
I have the jig to cut the notch in the polymer frame for them so they are perfect and dead on even. Freehand doesn't look as nice and you can tell it is a mod. This jig makes the cut look factory and even Sig couldn't tell until they ran the serial number.
@@JohnDoeEagle1 I beg to differ. You haven't seen mine. Not to mention that the thinning that I did around the sidewalls of the XMacro grip module by manual safety lever looks more stock and in keeping with the design of the grip module than Sig's Commifornia compliant version that accepts a manual safety lever.
@
You put some calipers on yours and you can tell it's not factory trust me. The jig makes it exact and precise. Even Sig couldn't tell by looking at it.
What your little lady needs is this .357 Mag scandium light weight snub nose pocket cannon.
lmao
It is very difficult to find the turdy twos, the apc variety having a bad rep.
The only problem I have with the Maverick 88 is the safety location, the Mossberg safety on top of the receiver just make sense especially if you have to switch hands because you just push it forward with your thumb, left or right handed it's still the same, unlike the 88 or Remington it's one direction from right to left with your right hand but you have to reach under to take the safety off if your left handed
When buying a little M&P 340 (no lock😊) I mentioned to the clerk I’d mostly be shooting 38’s only rarely 357’s. He got nervous and told me it was unsafe to shoot 38’s out of a 357. Wouldn’t sell it until after he called the owner at home.
One time a guy came in a shop near me looking for a HD gun for his wife, both seemed un-initiated greenhorns. The salesman offered them a Ruger single action 44 mag. I suppoose he was hoping that they would trade it in fast and he could resell it again to make two profits on one gun.
44 special wadcutters would feel like nothing.
When it comes to ordering a gun that you want and someone in the gun shop says what do you want that for. I ordered a pistol at a gun shop and the one salesman was very condescending trying to sell me something that was hundreds of dollars more, I ended up dealing with the other salesmen that I knew from other deals. When I came in to pick my pistol up I was in uniform and the guy who was being so condescending just kind of shrunken walked away
You want what you want for the price you want to pay at the time you want it. Nobody should be talking you out of stuff to sell you something "they" personally like. When some random stranger asks me about a gun I tell them if I have one already and what I think of it. If they are comparing xyz I tell them enough info to help them make a decision. I never tell anybody "get this". Young tactitard types are the worst for trying to push off their junk to everybody else. I don't want that Canik TURD with a red dot optic. I want this standard GLOCK with fixed sights or S&W revolver!
I'm a Michigander too.👍
Years ago, before I got my CPL, I was in a Field&Stream Store that is now rightfully bankrupt and has been sold to Sportsman's Outdoors.
I was about to finalize my purchase of a single-stack subcompact pistol, and the salesman said "I just don't know why someone without a CPL would be buying a 'Concealed Carry Pistol'.🥴🧐"
I said "So that when I get my CPL, I'll already have a pistol for that role, that I've had time to practice shooting and familiarize myself with...🤷🏼♂️".
Seemed like he was hoping I would say something stupid, so he could deny me the sale at the last second.
That purchase took the full 5 day approval period before I could go back to pick it up.
None that I had ever bought before then, there or anywhere else ever had that issue.
And every one that I bought there after that, before I boycotted Field&Stream all took the full 5 days.
...But never anywhere else, before or since.
@@aldousorwell3807 The pistol I was buying was also a small sub-compact as a backup gun. I never understand when you say what you want, show that you understand what it is and then some people still need to "show you" just how much smarter they are.
@@MichiganHiker Indeed.👍 If you're not just there to browse, and you already know what you want, having a clerk try to convince you that your choice is inferior to their personal taste, and try to talk the store out of a sale, or upsell the customer is smug, annoying and most often uninformed of them.
In my case, it seemed even worse, because the clerk was looking for a reason to deny me the sale outright. I don't look or act crazy, and if I can pass a NICs Check, his opinions and inklings are irrelevant anyway. ...I guess some people like having a bug all the way up their ass, to keep their head company...🤷🏼♂️😂
Federal courts in two different districts have ruled that is is NOT unlawful to own a fully automatic firearm. The NFA's unconstitutionality has been affirmed by the SCOTUS Heller decision and reaffirmed by the SCOTUS Bruen decision. The only real question is how long before SCOTUS specifically rules the NFA unconstitutional. It won't be this SCOTUS session, but it could possibly happen in the next one.
" I lost my gun in a tusle"
You beat me to it,
You have no idea how many times we have heard that.
If you tell the attacker, "I'm an ally", they tend to give up. In all seriousness, it's better than using deadly force in situations where it's not warranted. It was still funny though. That guy in Seattle wasn't down with the cause. 😂
Stupid things I heard was 1. Looking for 357 mag. Plus p plus ammo. 2. Looking for 380 auto defense ammo, cause that's the only ammo it will shoot.
Lol, I was told by a huge gun store GM that Taurus guns were faulty because Taurus uses powdered metallurgy for building the slides…said, “just think about it, do you want cast metal slides or some powder squeezed together.”

@JessicaGrecco-ll7gu yes but not for the reasons listed
@ ok my friend let’s all unite on getting this universal gun carry across the country passed please
@ Yeah...there is a lot to deconstruct from that statement, lol. At this point I think the great danger faced by gun owners are Red Flag laws. Gun confiscation isn't something to fear in the future, it's happening now.
I had a customer come to our range. He said his friend sold him the gun. He had a Glock chambered in .45GAP. His ammo was .45ACP. He had a Glock 17 magazine (9mm).
Sounds like he was kitted out lol
1. Anything from the 9mm cultists

The 9mm cult is real.
Yep, both are equally annoying and have no idea what they are talking about.
I will concur, especially on your number 2, but only if you add a number 3 as 1911ists. Before you get your panties in a bunch, I am a quarter invested in 45 colt and longer, this is not a flying ashtray argument.

@@brianc9374 The 9mm cult is definitely a thing!
In the last year I've asked for .380 and was handed.38spl, or asked for 38 and got .380. The kids working in these sporting goods stores are clueless these days.
Wait a minute. Those aren't gun shops. There just big stores that sell guns. Good luck finding an actual gun guy.
I had a similar altercation about three years ago at my local gun store:
Me: "What isle is gun oil and cleaning kits on?"
Kid: "Isle three."
Me: "Do you carry Hobbs.?"
Kid: "No, we only carry this."
Kid: "Sir, want kind of gun is it?"
Me: "It's a Remington 870 pump-action."
Kid: "Is that a shotgun, handgun, or rifle?"
Me: 🤨???

When I hear 10mm is as powerful as 41 magnum. 😂😂😂
Some ballistic test have shown it’s close with certain ammo but overall no
@bobyjones3905 You are correct. if using the hottest 10mm out of a 6 inch barrel full sized pistol, vs the lowest end 41 magnum ammo out of a snub nose, then yea, I guess they can handicap the 41 enough to say "look 10mm is close to 41 magnum"....but I could just as well shoot 9mm +p+ from a carbine and say it's on par with a standard 357 magnum revolver...lol. At some point they gotta compare apples to apples with platform and top loadings available, and 10mm is closer to 357 magnum than it willever be to 41 magnum.
@ of course and I’d still take the.357 over a 10mm as far as performance
@bobyjones3905 Agree 100%....In my opinion, a mid sized 357 magnum with something like a 3 inch barrel wins. The revolver is easier to conceal due to being less bulky overall, less blocky, less sharp angles, and a more organic shape. The revolver is generally more accurate than a semi, unless your spending much more on the semi. The revolver can be loaded from low recoil 38 specials to be used for plinking and small game up to rip stomping 357 mags capable of taking even large game in the right hands. While it is not the perfect choice, the 357 mag has taken things like deer, caribou, elk, and yes, even moose and bear...(I realize the 10mm can do this too). You can have from 70 grains to 230 grains between 38 and 357 magnum bullet weights. The revolver does not rely on the action to function, so light loads or limp wristing will not cause a malfunction...just pull trigger again. The revolver does not rely on a magazine so no chance of spring wear, dropped, crushed, or dammaged magazine making your handgun a single shot. The revolver does not need to be in battery to function, so if you are unlucky enough to be tangled up with an attacker, pressing the muzzle against him wont render the gun inoperable like the semi...and you can shoot while inside a jacket pocket. The 357 magnum cartridge using heavy bullets of say 180 grains has better sectional density and better ballistic coefficient than 10mm....meaning it penetrates deeper on large animals, shoots flatter, and retains its energy further than the 10mm. The lighter 125 grain bullets made the 357 magnum a legend on the streets because they stopped the fight with one or at most two rounds. The only place that the semi 10mm beats the 357 revolver is capacity and reload speed....and with moon clips a person can reload a revolver just as fast as anyone with a magazine fed semi. To this, we must remember that the first few rounds in any firearms altercation will be the most important. You will probably never need more than 3 rounds, probably 5 rounds at most, and you probably have a better chance at winning the powerball than needing to expend over 10 rounds of pistol ammo in a self defense scenerio, especially if you are a good shot. There is a point where it wont matter how many rounds are in your gun, if your facing multiple armed attackers, you will lose regardless. So, with all of that said, I would pick the 357 mag in a revolver.
@ I have a 686 Smith revolver with the 7 inch barrel and I absolutely love it. I do have like 6 tens but the biggest game I hunt in Georgia is deer .
Gun store clerks also have stated the 22 lr will go inside the body and start bouncing around
random boomers will just say this as well
The more correct way to say that would be 22 trajectory is highly subject to the angle of bone deflection. This has been proven, but pinball it is not.
@@fortheloveofnoise please explain
Or they will bounce off a leather jacket.
I work at a gunshop, I hear soo many dumb things EVERYDAY
I have heard that same story multiple times, 357 sig in a sig p320 9mm......
Well birdshot at close range will eliminate a bipedal threat quite effectively, but it reduces the risk of overpenetration if it hits a wall. Kind of. But it's more it reduces how many walls it will go through. Paul Harrell made a video years ago about shotgun loads and wall penetration. If you have to use a gun defensively in your house, you want to make sure you hit what you're aiming at, that is of course the first and important thing. But you want what hits the target to then not go out the back of it and go through walls. This is why slugs or rifle rounds are absolutely a bad idea, honestly people who think they should use 5.56 indoors are very out of touch, I don't think they realize just how loud that will be for one thing.
The guy who insists that he wants a "brand new 9mm Luger" and when asked what make insists he wants "a NEW Luger". And doesn't believe that "the Luger" hasn't been made since 1945 since he's heard it's "the most popular gun on the market". Then refuses to believe that 9mm Luger can also refer to the cartridge and can be found in numerous handguns, carbines and submachine guns. And yes, I am aware of the Stoeger Luger in .22LR POS, the Mitchell stainless Luger, the Erma baby Luger, and the custom made LugerMan .45 Luger. These are all rare and/or expensive collectors items. The only one still in current production is the .45 LugerMan at a base price of $4950. Also available in 10mm or 9mm Dillon for an $1250 upgrade. Did I miss any others? If so let me know.
My buddy's elderly Dad has a stainless German Luger "clone" "repro" made back in the 90s when he bought it new. Not sure of the make though because he hasn't shown it to me in nearly 20 years. It's brushed/satin stainless with walnut wood checkered grips. I'm guessing it might be a Mitchell Arms but not sure on that.
That would be the Mitchell. @@JohnDoeEagle1
Have a friend that didn't understand that "mm" = millimeter ... I asked him what chambering he had in his new hunting rifle, and he said 7, M, M. I said, oh, is it "Remington 7 millimeter magnum", or 7mm-08? Pointing out that the 7MM Rem Mag was an awful lot for a deer gun. He looked super confused, and said "it's "M. M. "....
I heard someone who thought MM meant it shot M&Ms.
A guy at a lgs, told my dad long time ago, to heat the barrel of his rifle red hot to melt the lead out of the barrel.
Stupidest thing I ever heard in a gun shop was "I voted for trump..."
I had a local gunshop that was horrible, the moment you walked it it smelled like cheaper cigars and sweaty fat people. The walls were almost bare aside for a few 1911 and revolver grips. As i looked through the very small selection i asked the guy behind the counter what his price on a gen 1 S&W sd40 and when he said $525 i laughed my way out the door
"50 bmg is so powerful you can shoot through a window and clear an entire room" heard that twice, once at a gun range, once at a gun shop.
That dude on TH-cam yankee marshal really know his stuff.
Some guy looking for retention holster so he wouldn't lose his snubby.
Got a deal on a 38-40 because the .38 barrel was shot out
I paid then informed them of their mistake
In the documentary RESTREPO one of the troops staioned at the O.P. Restrepo in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan, named after their deceased medic, states that the "fifty cal will burn your face if it misses by an inch". Military Lore is the best!
The fanboi clerk is annoying as hell. I was at the local Rural King looking at a 9mm pistol(forget the brand right offhand) a few years ago and the clerk kept harping on me telling me I should buy a Sig and I could always change the barrel/mag out if I wanted 9mm because the only Sigs in the counter were .40 cal. So I would have been spending more for the gun itself plus another $200 for conversion barrel and mag.
I was VERY close to asking to see one of the Hi Points they had and if/when he asked why I would want THAT. I would calmly look him in the eye and tell him I heard you could beat someone to death with one and I'm wanting to see how true that is.
I got a further review on a ar15 lower once. (I always get delayed 10-15 minutes, so nothing new). The sales guy told me it was because the government is tracking the lowers.
223 is the same velocity as 5.56😖
That bird shot is a solid mass for a long way.
I can't count how many times a current or former military or Law Enforcement client says the best firearm for my wife or husband is the one I say he or she is best with.
At a pawn shop here in San Antonio, Texas, guy held a S&W SD9 VE to his nose. Smelled the muzzle and declared, "yeah this is a bood one".
Smelling the gun is the best way to identify if it has been cold blued.
I can't stand it when people in the gun shop, customers, feel the need to chime in when I asked the owner a question. Before the owner can even begin to answer my question here they go with their advice or answer. Drives me crazy and makes me not want to ask anything if anyone else is around.
The customers will be more honest than the owner.
People against free speech should not be allowed to buy guns. people who are too scared to tell others to mind their own business shouldn’t own gun.
@fuzz6938 lol so you're in favor of being an idiot. Got it. You're the one at the gun counter running off at the mouth and making a fool out of yourself. I don't guess you know that free speech stops at the door of a private business right? Lol some people.
@adamshaw8214 not necessarily. If I don't ask you a question that means I'm not wanting your advice. It's people like that that give gun owners a bad name. Know it all's. I was taught not to open my mouth unless I was spoken to.
I saw a nice AK-looking gun behind the counter and I asked if that's a Russian gun. He was annnn asssss "It says Kalashnikov so yes it's Russian, USA is the importer." Didn't even hand me the gun so I could look at it, just walked off. I zoomed in with my phone and sure enough... it was a K USA 9mm which strangely are super expensive now; maybe I should have bought it lol (this was back in 2017 I think).
Here’s one for you; Super hunter dude says you are under gunned if you use less than 300 win mag for elk. Then ask him what my wife should use? Answers .243.
I said something really stupid at the Gun Counter at Cabelas... Threw my 2 cents in towards a customer that wanted a G19 gen4 and would buy it now if it didn't have the, "finger grooves." So I said, "take a Roto-File and grind them off." Everyone within ear shot looked at me like I was real stupid...I get that a lot.
C&R are not real FFL. Will not ship to C&R.
Anything self defense is stupid in a gun shop. Get a attorney
One time I bought an LCP II and I wanted a back up mag and the guy behind the counter said why would you want that.
