I'm 5' 6", but high-waisted so I have the legs of someone 5'9" and the torso of someone 5'3". This video tells me that if I'm short, my seat should be lower. This is something I have been told my entire life, and it's just flat wrong. Cubicle farm desks are not adjustable and if my seat is as low as you (and HR departments) say it should be, I have to crane my neck to see my computer monitor. For all of my 20s and 30s I sat on a copy of the Yellow Pages at work just to alleviate the neck pain my OSHA-approved chair was causing. Now that phone companies don't print phone books anymore, I've had to buy expensive cushions that last at best 6 months. I need a taller chair and nobody will listen to me.

i really am glad i found this video, im 16 and 5 ft 4" (personally believe that is short) and had no idea how to get a chair without serious blood circulation cut off. This seems to be a big issue with people on the smaller side and certain chairs. My only issue is if i dont already have a chair that works for me to measure the depth of seat, would a wooden chair suffice?

Any chair will do. The main point is to get the distance between your tail bone and inner knee minus 1-2 inches. See this link for a visual explanation: ergonomictrends.com/best-big-tall-ergonomic-office-chairs/#How_to_Best_Measure_Chair_Seat_Size_for_your_Body

I see a dilemma with your recommendations. If I adjust the chair to make sure my feet are flat on the floor (I got an Aeron last week), the table height does not change and therefore I am awkwardly reaching for the computer as my arms are near my lower neck in that height. Can you recommend office chairs for short people that compensate for the fact that table heights are not easily adjustable?

Always prioritize your upper body posture. If your feet end up dangling, an easy solution is to get a foot rest
