There's probably a difference between what your instagram and youtube audience want to see. I think doing a poll on youtube in the side cards rather than an instagram poll would help you assess what your youtube audience would like to see.

I follow different people on Instagram and on TH-cam. I honestly subscribed to your because of your monthly budgeting videos. Not because you are a guru but a regular person. I would much rather watch someone I can relate to talk about how they spend there money then listen to a 30 something white guy tell me I spend to much on clothes and coffee. If these videos don't make you happy I would rather you do something that does.

i appreciate you being transparent all the time - and also being willing to discuss the ethical and moral complications from shopping at reformation & mate! it's refreshing to have someone in my sub box that cares so much about where they put their money & the messages buying from certain companies send out.

I will be honest I found this channel through your money and debt videos and subscribed because of those. I have probably watched all your money related videos and find them very interesting but don’t really watch any of the other videos on your channel. Personally my subscription box is already full of “lifestyle” videos but the money and budgeting videos are what differentiate your channel to me and are why I stay subscribed and continue to watch. I totally understand that you want to make different types of content but also wanted to provide my feedback in hopes it might be helpful :) for reference I’ve been subscribed for almost two years

Aja, I have to admit... I love your videos on anything financial. I also agree with others comments that some people I follow on IG, I do not follow or watch on TH-cam. I’m here for your budget vids and anything financial. In fact, I look forward to your videos at the beginning of every month. Hope this helps! Best of luck to you and very proud of all that you have accomplished. Ps I also enjoy your cooking videos.

Lol. I totally skipped over the doggy video. I just prefer the financial videos. If you want to switch things up, what do you think about doing some more videos that take us through your thought process when making purchases/investments? That can include grocery shopping for example. maybe a grocery haul challenge where you have to stay within a budget. Your favorite
budget friendly meals/ snacks is another idea. I’d also be interested in business related videos.

@@AjaDang TH-cam is overrun with beauty and workout gurus, but you are much more unique in the finance/budgeting arena. The beauty and lifestyle gurus are successful because they are marketing a product. I like you because you are selling knowledge to actually help people and not a superficial product or unattainable lifestyle that just helps a corporation. Leighannsays mentioned this same issue in her last vlog and asked for feedback. Her beauty/lifestyle videos are not doing as well as in the past. Most of the comments there mentioned that the audience is getting older along with her and just not interested in the beauty vids. It may be a common phenomenon for late-20s/early-30s youtubers.

  • @maeowelvsulotz
    @maeowelvsulotz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +32

I agree with what some other people are saying. Insta feedback is going to be from people who are really invested in you as an influencer, and are likely more eager to see videos on your personal life. Whereas those that come across your videos on youtube are typically seeing them pop up on financial video algorithms.

I also don't want to watch your videos on that other stuff because of quarantine honestly. Like your car shopping video in quarantine? Who is buying a car right now? Like your easy curls? Who is trying to get ready right now. It's just a weird time. I love your money videos because i need to watch what i spend right now so you're a reminder of that. I'd love to see how to do self care when you feel like the world is crumbling, how to do self care on a budget, how to spend on skincare on a budget, black own businesses you love and for what products, collabs with black creators. You're super conscious so intentional videos of the moment would be great.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the clothing brands. I also avoid fast fashion and have made mistakes in the past (cough cough EVERLANE.) I agree that the best thing to do is wear the clothes to pieces! The next time you are looking for new clothing I highly recommend Ace and Jig, ShopArq, eli and barry. These are also very expensive and they sell investment pieces, however in my opinion the quality, sustainable and ethical practices of the company are def worth the price (if you can afford it.)

  • @MelissaPressler

As someone who is super budget conscious - I highly recommend you "treat yourself" on the secondary market: IE The RealReal and Poshmark. You will find soooo many good things and don't have to feel bad about adding shopping into your budget. Whenever I see something I like on a brand's website, I ALWAYS check these sights too to see if they have it for sale at a much cheaper cost, gently used. :)

I think you are itching because you're seeing yourself financially improving and your subconscious is telling you "its' ok to spend some for yourself". There will always be two types of wants. One is geared towards being better in what you do (i.e., side hustles, learning a new skill, taking control of your finances, etc.) and the other are tangible rewards (i.e., material objects, etc.). The key is capitalizing on the initial type of want to fulfill the latter type of want. I think since your brain is subconsciously thinking that you are accomplishing the first one that it is telling you that it's ok to "itch" the latter. They are tempting and can get very "itchy", do your best to stay on track! Great job nonetheless, I enjoy watching your financial videos!

(Based on your description) You’re so right about “ethical” brands. It’s green washing and now it’s also performative activism. We need to STOP buying from them, following them on social, and supporting influencers who are sponsored by them!

I think it's because we spend a lot of time at home and day by day we feel overwhelmed with internet content so we all are taking our time off of it. 1. i like hearing people's personality audit of themselves, if it's not too personal. like how much impact do you think your upbringing had on you, whether you're super normal and stable, or have specific coping mechanisms, are there things you're really thankful your parents taught you, is there anything you feel like you have to unlearn? how do you think your personality has matured and developed, and were there any specific impetuses that ever gave you "reality checks?"
    2. i personally don't have too much interest in makeup and hair styling videos since i do neither of those things (super sensitive skin and scalp! also stuff i haven't allocated brain bandwidth for)
    3. really like clean minimal ingredient skincare, hair treatment product ideas though, for instance if you ever try facetheory!
    3. it's funny cuz i probably like the same type of videos from all the youtubers i watch, ie a what you're doing at home sort of thing. just with your own personality spin on it. idk cooking, cleaning, chatting, idk tell me about your parents, what you talk about with bryan, if it's not too personal, if you realized anything in your life you'd like to try changing forever because covid has clarified something...or something
    4. i'd like an invisalign video but i think you mentioned you're already doing one explaining why you got it and all that
    5. i liked the snack video you did, super simple "cooking" is always nice to me
    6. the books or people that said something that changed your outlook, that when you look back, it was like a revelation. did you ever read or talk to someone that you thought was so different from you or you even disagreed with and it enriched your perspective?
    7. favorite foods your parents or relatives made you when you were growing up! favorite childhood snacks and foods
    8. shopping hauls (but stuff you were gonna buy anyways, haha, not those crazy consumerist ones)

I know you talked about not being sure where to buy a house but would love to know what’s the strategy moving forward. ♥️♥️♥️ Love your budget, dog and vlog style videos by the way if it helps. ✨✨

I think a lot of people watch you because of your finance videos. The DITL and workout videos don't really conform to that niche, so that may be why they're not doing so well! Really loved the DITL though, I thought it was great! ❤

I like all your videos include doggy videos. Don't be worried about everybody enjoys your videos. The most important thing is that you enjoy making them.

i really love your lifestyle and money videos. i personally dont really care about makeup/beauty as much so i tend to skip those videos but i definitely love your less financial stuff! glad you talked about the problems with those brands (i somehow missed that so its good to know!) id definitely be interested in some styling videos of your new clothes (although i understand thats tricky if you dont want to promote those brands too)

Look at an SUV comparison video. It has the audi, bmw, mercedes and Acura suvs they compare. He liked the acura the best. The MDX could work if you want a future family vehicle. Or the audi Q7. I'm looking at getting an Audi SQ5 soon myself. Had the regular Q5 before and absolutely loved it. Gently used they are very reasonable too. Idk if you want something smaller than an SUV though

Hi Aja, fantastic video as always. I see you have linked Indeed in the description box. Would highly recommend you switch it with another job site as Indeed's corporate culture has been found to be highly toxic for women, they have been sued for it and no action has been taken to correct it from there company's end.

When are you going to come out with a financial planner? I remember a while back you mentioned that you were putting a paper planner together, but haven't heard much about since then.

    * Aja make sure you check the safety rating for whatever car you choose. 5 stars is the best!
    * The video quality is amazing! Great investment.

I love your videos. I do want to point out that life, in general, is pretty heavy right now. Many people are just taking a break from all social media (even if it isn't heavy content).

i think its good to do a mix of what videos you like to do and what people want... even if you don't get the views if you enjoy the process its worth it on your journey as a creator. btw i watched the dog vlog and loved it!

I think it's the algorithm, man. None of those videos you mentioned popped up on my feed. While I sometimes go into my subscription tab I don't always.
My feed in general has been weird lately, don't know how much of that is due to my own "risky clicks" or TH-cam deciding to force trends.
