    Hi! I used to work for Uhaul and I highly recommend reserving the uhaul now just in case you need it. You can cancel for free at any time, however the longer you wait to reserve the higher the price gets. Even if you need to change the dates later, you will lock in that rate.

    The Invisalign tip is so important!!! Everyone says they'll wear it all the time at first, but it's so easy to forget/be too lazy to put them in. My sister had Invisalign all 4 years of high school and was lazy about wearing it. Since she barely made any progress she ended up just getting braces as an adult!! So not only did it cost my parents a lot, she was also really embarrassed about having braces in college.

    • @AjaDang
      @AjaDang  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Uhaul was overpriced for our NJ - CO move bc of the rental and gas (plus we had 2 cars - would have had to ship on or tow behind; not worth the worry and stress tbh). We went with PODS. It was like 3-4k for the size that fits in a parking spot.
    They drop it off, you load it, they take it away and drive it to your location and park it in a spot and you unload it. We had a single bedroom apartment ~700sq ft and everything fit just fine. We had the pod for a few weeks (1 week in NJ, one week for transport, and maybe a week in CO), and it was hella worth not driving a uhaul truck or trailer.

    This video was very informative. It made me realize that the reason why I keep getting stuck in my money goals is that I don't set them out clearly. I have been stuck on baby step 3 for a while now.

      Teresiah Wangari take your lowest amount you’ve been paid in the last 6 months and do your budget based on that. Set your direct debt on that number. And work upwards. If you get paid more where is that money going and set it out. That way an amount is getting direct debited and you are able to make a decision on the rest.

    I'd love to see a future video on setting realistic goals. What I love most about copying your debt-free flow charts is that you can fill them in as you go and that they're flexible enough to handle all parts of life. Mainly, how do you adjust when life gets in the way OR when things are even going better than expected? What I loved about your debt free journey is that you obviously had a goal, but you kept pushing forward no matter what setbacks got in your way. I think most people quit with bad setbacks and would love to hear how you approach it. (I remember the videos on feeling frustrated, I just wouldn't mind more of that discussion!)

      Brian normally travels for work and Houston is a hub for United so it won't hurt him. But since his travels have been canceled for the foreseeable future, he's been doing online tutorials which has been more profitable and easier on his body. For myself, I won't get more commercial work (as I won't be going to auditions) but I haven't been booked in a while so it's not too much of a concern. Good question.

      Alex Wyler i guess I had a diff experience from you? I live in LA but grew up in Houston as a minority. Ppl are very nice and accepting there...despite the crazy drivers lol There’s lots of job opportunities, your income goes a long way, great food scene and the most racially/ethically diverse city in the country (even written in LA times). The downside for me is the hot/humidity you deal with almost 3/4th of the year and the outdoor scenery isn’t as beautiful (no mountains). There’s ton of cheap, international flight deals that goes out of Houston. Racism exists everywhere, no matter what town, city, or country you’re in

    • @brittanyluna2166
      @brittanyluna2166 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bigbellalilbella4212 Agreed. We are a super diverse city and a majority of people are very nice. U of H was the most diverse college campus back in 2011 when I graduated, and I could only imagine it's continued along the same path. Racism does exist everywhere, but Aja and Brian are advocates for BLM, women's rights, environmentalism, animal rights etc. Living in Houston would not inhibit them from continuing to do so.

    Really love your videos and how real you are with everything! If you're looking for new ideas for videos can we see something like:
    Fashion- buying second hand outfit online for a date night and diy it yourself, like the shorts you did a while ago.
    Dance- have Brian to choreograph a dance routine for you to learn.
    Dance- you just doing some weird and random moves and Brian has to use those moves to create an amazing dance routine from (just something fun and random, don't know if this idea makes sense)
    Reflection- like a dear 20 year old me type of letter. I guess advice to past self and to other 20 year olds or those younger than you. It doesn't have to be financial, it can be anything.
    Self help- I know you're way better off now than when you were in debt, but I think we still all go through other types of struggles. How about trying a self help technique for 30 days, like have a diary or meditating, and seeing if you notice a difference in your day to day life.
    Pets- what to consider before buying a pet, like what safety measures need to be put in place, how often to take them to the vet etc.
    Edit: hopefully I'm not too late for you to see these ideas!

      Aja Dang yes, there is very little/no regulation regarding how companies can market “green” products. I agree 💯%!! I really wish in the US, the education system and parents would teach kids more about financial literacy from a young age.
      My parents and grandparents always taught me about saving and living within your means (never spend more than you earn.)
      However no one really taught me about credit scores, taxes, investing, retirement, life insurance or long-term care, and other important life skills such as how to buy a car/house and other big purchases. Those are VERY VALUABLE lessons for everyone to know at least the basics!

    4.000. Does that mean it's 4.000 a month for that apartment?! WOW, that is so much! Is that a normal price there?

    Since watching your last video I read some of Dave Ramsey's books. I personally did not like the amount of religion in them, but did like the financial information. I saved up my first 1k, and am $488 away from paying off my first student loan (one of many). It is so important to save up a bit of emergency money, I realize that now more than every as my husband lost his income due to covid. I would have been able to make a bigger dent in my loans if he hadn't, but I am just glad I am able to cover all of our expenses and more with just my income. I can't wait to see what your planner looks like. I'll make sure to add that to my November budget!

      yes his religious beliefs are definitely not something I personally align with so when he goes on about it in his books or podcast I just skip forward.

    Hey Aja, 4k is a lot for rent! My partner and I rented in ktown, LA for about $2100 not including utilities before buying our first home in West LA. Have you guys considered renting somewhere cheaper without the hassle of moving to Texas?

    • @LittleRedPoppies
      @LittleRedPoppies 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. I forgot how many bedrooms her current apartment is but there are plenty of one bedroom apartments in ktown under $2100. The only thing is that parking in ktown is HORRENDOUS (like I've driven around 30min to find parking on a Saturday night, only to go back home to take an uber there) and a lot of apartments don't come with a parking spot. Maybe it was much easier back when you lived in ktown... But yea I agree, I live in a rent controlled apartment in Arlington Heights by ktown. 2 bedrooms for $2100 with parking and W/D. It's not a nice neighborhood but crime rate is lower than DTLA and South Central and still right in the middle of the city. Or like Eagle Rock, Culver City, and Miracle Mile are good options for cheap, safe, remodeled apartments

    Hi Aja - love your videos. Just wanted to add a note that if you are making homemade food for your dogs long-term it’s important to supplement the food with additional nutrients, minerals, vitamins, etc. My dog suffers from chronic pancreatitis and his vet recommended I get a nutritional consult with veterinary department at the university of Indiana. The outcome of the consult was a homemade recipe for my dog and a list of supplements that I could purchase separately or a pre-mixed supplement from BalanceIT.com. I ended up getting the pre-mixed version. This has made a world of difference for my dog (he hasn’t had a pancreatic attack since we switched his diet :) ) and I always like to share this site. I love that so many fur-parents are switching to home cooked meals but my vet was saying that just feeding human grade food may not provide your dog with all the nutrients they need that they would have gotten from eating bones, tendons, etc. and a supplement like Balance IT makes it really simple. I’ve also noticed that the website has a lot of recipes to try for your pet. Just wanted to share this. Thanks again for your videos.

    Working toward buying a house would be a great idea. It will only increase your wealth in the long run compared to leasing. My fiancée and I bought our first home being 21/22 years old which means we sacrificed “fun” things others our age are doing...we have old cars and we eat at home most of the time. 7 months in, it was the best decision we made.

    Hey girl! Are you moving the whole apartment? I paid about $1500 to move a one bedroom from NYC to LA. (Without cost of gas, food, hotels.) Of course, a NYC one bedroom is not the same as an LA version lol, so that could make a difference.

    BUY! DO NOT RENT NOW! HOME INTEREST RATES ARE THE LOWEST IT WILL EVER BE! Seriously, if you buy it will be worth it in Houston, a neighbor is selling their two-story house for $255k. This time is a good time to buy because of the economy.
