I got The Hedonist - "who ever says money can't buy happiness needs to spend more time with you". Definitely work hard for my money and like to spend it, but also am the type of person to never look at my bank account because I'm scared of the damage I've done. Still learning to stick to my budget, but sometimes that impulse buy gets the best of me!
I got The Conquerer- “It’s not necessarily about the money for you. It’s about how you earned it. Achieving is a source of constant validation that makes you feel worthy, valued, and loved. That’s why no amount of money ever seems like enough. Deep down, you may be fueled by a fear of others thinking you aren’t good enough, and you’re determined to prove them wrong.” Sadly true to a degree
I am a Nurturer and that is so true. Being a single parent for 19 years to two children has given me that financial mentality to always make sure my loved ones are taken care of. And as the older sibling, my childhood was always taking care of my brothers while my parents were addicted to their habits. So my financial definition was accurate.
Thank you for everything you do for those dogs. It’s people like you who give them a second chance and they truly deserve it. To use your platform to open awareness is commendable! You are great Aja! 🙂
i am a nurturer - "Your role as 'the responsible one' was adopted very early on in life. You may have grown up in an environment where your parents weren’t always able to meet your needs. You coped by learning to need less. You stepped in as a sort of surrogate parent for your younger siblings, taking care of those even more vulnerable than you. " - this is so true
I am a stockpiler, which makes sense. Money is safety for me. My dad was the main and only provider for my family and my mom stayed at home taking care of us. Making sacrifices and living frugally to become financially independent is what I have always strive for.
so happy to hear that you're so close to being debt free! I haven't actually caught up with your budget videos since you paid off your smallest student loan and bought yourself that cake, so it was so crazy to come back to your channel today and see how far you've come. you're almost there and i'm proud of you. i'm now starting the dave Ramsey baby steps because of your videos!
The Nurturer. Very accurate . Being the oldest of my siblings, I feel responsible for my parents and for the well-being of my siblings . I do check my balances and credit card daily and input them into the every dollar app , I update my excel sheets often , I scribbled on my notebook with lots of numbers and plan to retire hopefully in 10 years (44-45 years old) Finance is all I think about and though I wish I can enjoy life as it is but I’m so afraid that time is not on my side as I wish I knew what I know now 10 years ago. Aja, i know you have heard this but hear it again you are a beast at slaying this amount of debts. If you are able to invest the same way you will be able to retire very soon :) . Take mini retirements in your financial journey!
I look forward to these every month! You got me started at my journey and I’ve introduced so many families to Dave Ramsey thanks to you!! Thanks older sis 🥰
These dogs are amazing survivors. Thank you so much for helping them. I hope all of them both in this video and not shown in the video, find forever homes soon. So happy for Tiger.
The quiz was spot on I’m a “nurturer” because people can always rely on me even when I can’t afford to support loved ones I would rather go into debt than say no.
I got stockpiler too! I definitely view money differently because of how I grew up. Everything was on credit cards, then my parents divorced when I was in high school (during the recession), and my brother and I helped pay for things (bills, food, etc) and they would pay us back when they got paid. So. Stockpiling money “makes sense” for how I saw money growing up. I always look forward to these each month! We have just under $15k left of $46k, so we both are ALMOST THERE!! Phew!!
I'm a Hedonist. I definitely don't hoard money and spend "freely" making my environment calm and beautiful. However, behind the scenes I save and watch spending. Thanks for sharing.
I got the conqueror, which is pretty accurate. The pscho-analysis part is pretty detailed. This website/service knows how to get people interested in their product for sure
Got butterflies with you! We have no doubt that you can get your loan to about 10k by next month. So excited for you! Congrats! My husband and I watch the budget video every month - you keep us motivated! Also, awesome work with the animal rescue centers. You’re a very special person and we hope you know that!! ☺️☺️☺️
i got conqueror and it said "You may have grown up seeing your parents value success in a traditional way - doctors, lawyers, business owners. " which is so accurate it's scary. my dad is a doctor and a business owner. i don't do anything besides work and sleep and watch videos on how to make and save more money. my obsession with money is unhealthy.
I am 5 months late...but I am a new subscriber so I have a reason. I took the Empower test and I also got Stockpiler. Very, very accurate I must say. I agree with you so much on the frustration of having all this money thrown to debt when you could be doing so much more with it. Last month I paid off a 4 year long personal loan - final payment was over three grand. Before paying it off I was so excited that this loan that cost me $400 a month was going to be gone, and it was exciting while making the transaction. However, immediately after I felt anger. Anger at myself for putting myself in that situation. I started thinking that if I didn't have that loan that three grand could have gone towards a down payment on my first home purchase or I could have put that towards an emergency savings fund, but no, instead that money went to a bank. Although I am grateful for how far I have come in my debt payoff since I started budgeting about a year and a half ago I can't help but feel like it is never going to end. Anyways congratulations on paying off all your debt! Watching your budgeting videos has been great so far, even though I am years behind/latw. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this year will go for you being debt free!
Don’t forget if you have too much debt you can’t qualify for a home so paying it off first will help your credit score and your loan to debt ratio will be ok. Very important! You are on the right track!
OMG Aja! To know that your loan under 50k now makes me so happy for you as I start following your budget videos while your loan s were over 150k! Hope you could clear it by the end of this year! It would be the great new year gift ever!
Omg Stark. Breaks my heart. You’re a good woman. I remember you saying during one video while you were watching Ellen’s Biggest Night of Giveaways that you hope to get to a point where you are changing lives. Hate to break it to you but you are. Everyday. Much love.
I'm a Stockpiler too! My parents are also divorced and I grew up watching my friends do extra activities like dance or karate but could never be enrolled because we didn't have the money for it. Now as a young adult, I get anxiety about not having money so I'm trying to pay my student loans while I'm in school.
I got The Stockpiler and it definitely shows. I hate splurging on myself because, what if something critical comes up and now I've wasted money on myself :( it's frustrating
Lol I love this opener. Binging your financial journey playlist and I just know that you do it but I feel your pain. I literally have a tab on my exel called "Sanity Check" to see what all my hard work will reveal next year
I have so been looking forward to this month budget video. Thank you for posting on the 1st. I really enjoyed watching it and I’ve really been enjoying budgeting from your videos the last couple of months. Thanks for the inspo
Great video! I have a similar channel and I am impressed with your work. Budgeting is important and I love your perspective and all you have to offer. This video really serves as an inspiration.
My office has united healthcare for our health insurance. It is $700 per month for a single person. It is over $2000 per month for a family. My office does subsidize this but for my family i do pay about $250/paycheck for our family coverage. Health insurance is just a ton of money.
Amen! You’re a fighter Aja! Sending all love and prayers to you! God loves you! Here for you! Thank you for always sharing as your story resonates and helps hustle & motivate! Much love! ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽
i also got stickpiler! which is totally not wrong. i'll splurge every now and then but i definitely will feel bad for it if i start to see my savings become static because of it. it's a hard balance!
Thank you for always being honest and real about your financial journey. My loan payments have hit a low. I graduated college recently and havent been able to land an interview. However, I have a backup retail job that will lead to management position in less than 2 years. So, Im just over here trying to be patient. Im in a slump but trying to be positive.
Thank you so much for addressing the health insurance issue!!! I’m struggling with this same thing and paying $300 a month for bare minimum coverage just for myself and it’s ridiculous.
I’m having MAJOR anxiety and stress because I have waaay too much to worry about and can’t figure out the best route to go. We have about $25,000 in debt (which includes $15,000 in credit cards, $8,000 in a loan from my pension, and $2,000 in student loans), plus I’m going to have to sink $3,000 into my car (which is worth around $2,500), plus we have to work on buying a home, due to the fact that we may have to leave our rental. All three money concerns are related, and I wish I could just focus on one concern, but I can’t! All three are equally important, and therefore our money issues will take longer to fix, because I can’t just focus on one issue and get it out of the way ☹️ We can’t get a home or a car until we are debt-free, but still have to save money for a home and car...I wish I could just put all of our money to our debt, but in case my car dies, or we have to look for a new home ASAP, I have to contribute to savings. This is so frustrating, and it keeps me up at night ☹️ We’re truly not in the hole as others, but I feel like we’re so far away from being in a comfortable financial spot.
The quiz couldn't figure me out :p I got the Hedonist and while I do enjoy my money I enjoy putting enough away that I feel that I can enjoy the rest because I've been responsible, makes sense? The hedonist made me sound like I'm only splurging and not looking at my bank account and that is not the case. I prioritize. I spend money on what's important to me, I save money on what it isn't. Simple as that :)
It may be cheaper for them to pay you with interest if you threaten to take them to court. If you win, THEY have to pay court fees and additional fees, etc.
A few years ago I had ACA or Covered CA for a year, $250 pp. So hubby and I paid $500/mo. You can apply for bc of status changes like lost of a job, got married/divorce, had a child, loss of insurance d/t loss of job, etc. I got laid off in September a few years back so I applied outside the annual renewal time frame (usually Oct/Nov). Then I got married in October and qualify to apply again 🤣
If you like Empower high-interest checkings you should definitely check Wealthfront, they have a higher APY. Used to be 2.65% at the beginning of the year but with the federal cut they are down to 2.10% which is still pretty good. It's what I use for my emergency fund. They dont have bill-payment features or a debit card, these are future features, so thats why I consider it a savings account for now, and since it's my emergency fund I don't touch that money anyway. Wealthfront is also a great company to have your 401K or a personal investment account with if you want an AI to do the work for you and not having to stress about choosing what to invest in.
So excited for your progress! Under 30k is amazing!!! We are now working on savings vs debt payoff and for me it has actually been a harder process. The transition was odd for me having the freedom to save vs being under the restriction of debt, like the pressure was the big motivation for me. Anyway, thanks for sharing your journey and just know I am rooting for you and can’t wait to celebrate when you reach your goal 🎉😊
Aja, I'm sure you've talked about it or maybe tried it, but YNAB is so much better of a resource than Qapital (in my opinion). I switched to Discover's cashback checking account a year ago, and am never looking back. 1% cashback on a month's worth of purchases has been such a huge thing for me. Also, Ebates!!
That quiz was so off. It said I'm idealist, and that as a kid I never had to worry about money. I grow up dirt poor and many times homeless as a teen. I'm decent with money but it's not everything to me. I watched my father slave for it and snobby rich people judge me because of it. Money a lot of times determine people personality. Not all the time but as a kid that's what I saw. I never wanted money I just want to be okay. What's that called?? To be fair many of the questions didn't have a response for me to choose my true feelings. Thanks for the video tho!!🤗
Very interesting, thank you for the info about the money personality quiz Aja! I think that you are doing great, hope that the Asics thing is going to be solved sooner than later!
Best of luck!!! Fuck them for not paying you interest and for making the payment progress so damn painful for you. At least you’ll have your money and can never think about them again. I’m so excited for you, you’re getting SO CLOSE
Hey Aja! I'm so happy with your financial progress it's very exciting, don't give up! I was wondering also on an update that you mentioned last time about you and your partner about the decision on having a combined credit card for groceries? I think it would also be helpful for other couples with that same situation. Regardless I really enjoy your channel and I wish you the best! ❤
we haven't gone down that road as I had expected. I'm waiting for him to do a few things financially to signify to me that he's serious about this next step. Not going to pressure him - I'll continue my journey and when he's ready - I'll be ready.
@@AjaDang First of all, bae (Aja 😊) replied... I'm fan girling rn xD. 2nd, understood it is one of many important decisions being made and it's a process, so wish you both the best. 3rd I love that you put your financial journey, like myself I don't have anyone to teach me and explain these types of things and I understand that putting yourself out there (internet) is not easy. It's really helpful and educational to me. Thank you ❤
I loved this! I got the same thing but I would say a yr ago it would have been a different outcome. Great video! I will be utilizing this on my social.
Keep up the great work!! I feel defeated a bit too so I've given my body the break I need before I get to a point of burnout. Also, is there Any chance you could make your friends t-shirt in a hoodie?
@@AjaDang I am THE BEST pooch mama around! they ARE my babies! (I currently don't have any pooches) but the only reason I am hesitant is I just moved to a new state to start nursing school and moved into an apt with a roommate. I worry my 12 hour clinical will not allow me to be the pooch mama he deserves, I know there is no perfect time but I am going to forward his information to the sisters that adopted the pitty I fostered during college
Idk if this is possible, but please do another run of the 'Support your Girls' tees. I got a bit bigger so my tee doesn't fit that well anymore. And I have friends and random people who ask me about the shirt all the time! You could donate some of the proceeds to breast cancer research since it's breast cancer research month!
I got The Stockpiler, yeah, watching adults scream, yell toss things across the room and blame all of their problems on having had children will do that.
Do you recommend USF despite the amount of debt it put you in? I’m currently a freshman here and I’m stressed out I won’t be able to get any good job prospects and I’ll end up drowning in loans- I rather know now if it’s better to transfer out than start a poor mistake
I enjoyed it but I also went to grad school because I didn't graduate with a degree I wanted to have a career in. If you're really concerned, transfer to a community college for a couple years and go back to USF for graduation
Aja Dang I might stick it out because I’m from Philly and I’m paying the same price as some of my friends who are going to school at home, I think just starting my life so far away stresses me out but thank you for the advice and I’ll def watch your journey as I conquer my own!!
Hi Aja! I know you use a journal to track your expenses and your payments on bills. Would you mind doing a video of what you created in your financial journal and what are some pages you would like in a budget/financial organizer if you had the perfect organizer/journal? Having an excel sheet is great but having an organizer/journal is even better to carry around with on a daily basis.
There are ways to have low tuition or subsidized tuition, but it seems like universities prey on inexperience of high school graduates or first generation college goers. It's not a great system 😕
I got The Hedonist - "who ever says money can't buy happiness needs to spend more time with you". Definitely work hard for my money and like to spend it, but also am the type of person to never look at my bank account because I'm scared of the damage I've done. I'm also a hedonist! Feel u!
Try to have a budget for the splurge and/or deinstall shopping apps and unsubscribe from newsletters 😉 I always shop when I'm stressed 😩

Not buying Asics then! There's no way they "don't have the money" to pay you, so not only are they stingy, they're also dishonest.
Best of luck!!! Fuck them for not paying you interest and for making the payment progress so damn painful for you. At least you’ll have your money and can never think about them again. I’m so excited for you, you’re getting SO CLOSE
Thanks for your insights! (btw your hair looks really beautiful :)
I got the nurturer 😅 I love taking my little sisters out to eat and buying food for others. I love eating out too as social events
hahaha you are such a sweet. I think it's ok have fun with you lil sister. Just make your budget fit with it :)
Hope you get what you are owed, and on time! 🤞🏾
thanks for sharing the money personality quiz! super helpful.
Turns out I am a Stockpiler too, which shouldn't be much of a surprise seeing as I LOVE to put money in savings 😂 it makes me so happy
Good luck! You can truly see the light at the end of the tunnel! Do you have a splurge planned once you become debt free?
Sharon Williams New York. I’ve been craving a trip to NY and that will be my splurge since it’s so damn expensive
Keep up the great work!! I feel defeated a bit too so I've given my body the break I need before I get to a point of burnout. Also, is there Any chance you could make your friends t-shirt in a hoodie?
that's a good idea. I wasn't planning to but I'll think about it
That sounds a lot like me... Definitely taking that quiz!
What meal delivery service do you plan on using this month?
I LOVE Stark so much, I've been thinking about him since you first posted about him.
I think about him every day! I almost stopped by to check on him today
@@AjaDang I am THE BEST pooch mama around! they ARE my babies! (I currently don't have any pooches) but the only reason I am hesitant is I just moved to a new state to start nursing school and moved into an apt with a roommate. I worry my 12 hour clinical will not allow me to be the pooch mama he deserves, I know there is no perfect time but I am going to forward his information to the sisters that adopted the pitty I fostered during college
the pitty I fostered is also a tripaw pooch
Idk if this is possible, but please do another run of the 'Support your Girls' tees. I got a bit bigger so my tee doesn't fit that well anymore. And I have friends and random people who ask me about the shirt all the time! You could donate some of the proceeds to breast cancer research since it's breast cancer research month!
I think eventually I do a rerun of my top selling shirts but we still have some more doggy shirts left so I want to sell out on those first.
Have you tried Ramit Sethi's book? Many said it's good.
Any news about your little planner expedition? Asking because it's about time for me to buy a new one but I'd rather hold out and support you!
thanks for checking in! We've been working on it but probably won't be able to get one out until 2020. So stay tuned for that haha
I definitely got The Hedonist 😅
I got The Stockpiler, yeah, watching adults scream, yell toss things across the room and blame all of their problems on having had children will do that.
I’m an hedonist. Explains a lot 🤦♀️
Same. Also same.
Same
I just took the empower quiz, Im a stockpiler, and that definitely makes sense. I’m for sure gonna make my boyfriend take it too
I’m a Stockpiler too!
Please do more money diaries videos!!!
I got conqueror, how?????
I waited a month for this video 😂 so happy you’re under $30,000!!!
Good luck!!
Prayed you got paid on time Asia! 🙏🏽🧡
Thanks Aja! x
Stockpilers unite!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Fantastic loan update! #goajago
i am a conqueror, and it is the truth. lmaoo
You're a boss and badass and I wish we can meet and I can get mentorship from you
You and I have the same result!
If only there's an organization who can help students in america study without needing to pay incredible interests.
There are ways to have low tuition or subsidized tuition, but it seems like universities prey on inexperience of high school graduates or first generation college goers. It's not a great system 😕
You should ask for your WHOLE money !
SNAP! lm a Stockpiler too! 🤘
I'm a hedonist!
