    I was able to get the nuts off without a problem. I sprayed them with liquid wrench and they broke loose pretty easy. What I had trouble with was driving out the old end link once the nuts were off. I ended up taking my grinder to it and cut the end link in half.
    Another great video, thanks.

    I just did mine today...Instead of a 5mm allen wrench it should be a T40 Torx bit....I got frustrated under my GMQ until I finally figured out it wasn`t a 5mm allen wrench....

    Great video! Have creaking issues and trying to narrow the cause down...from bushings to frame support bar etc.

    • @birdwing98
      @birdwing98 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Creaking while turning the wheel can be caused by dried out lower ball joints. Dust boots deteriorate and water washes the grease away. Spray oil on one component at a time and then drive. Creaking goes away, after you spray what part?

    98-02...03-11 will be mostly the same but the orientation of the studs are slightly different... lower stud is horizontal instead of vertical and the upper is angled slightly upward with the upper nut in a recess behind the rotor
    They made them both easier and harder to get to when they redesigned the front steering/suspension

    I love your videos on this car. When this part is failing what kind of sound does it make? When I turn my wheel all the way to the left and move the car it makes a crunch/rusty hinge sound. Both lower ball joints have been replaced and both uppers have been inspected. Thoughts?

    The FORD service manual has upper nut at 20-26 ft lbs and lower nut connect to sway bar at 41 ft lbs. Aftermarket might be different(?).

    Thanks for this. Can't be too diferent a set up than on my 94 T-bird I suppose. One question; do those zerk fittings need grease right away, even before you drive, or are they fine as is for a time? I am guessing it would be part of the video, easiest done with wheels off, if it had to be done immediatey. thanks again

    may sound stupid but does this part cause a creaking or squeeking when you hit bumps?? and would it cause issues when make a hard left hand turn like a grinding noise?? .... the ball joint were already replaced by the car dealer and his mechanic said may be the sway bar link....

    On my 2000 Grand Marq, The hole in the lower control arm, on the driver's side does not line up under the bolt that needs to be removed to disconnect the old sway bar link. Impossible to get a 5 mm Allen wrench under that bolt to hold it while unscrewing the nut. I cut the curved part of my 5mm Allen wrench about half way down to be able get it in while above the lower control arm. Almost feels like it is stripped inside there. Seems like there is no other way to hold it steady to be able to get the nut off. Any suggestions?

    • @1AAuto

      +Gino Boomino Yeah, it is. Could also be that in doing this repair you loosened up some other components that need replacing. Did you inspect everything else down there before putting the wheel back on?

    thanks man you made me safe some money. Never bring your car to Canadian tire for a safety. Want to charge me 350$ to do this job and install two exhaust clamps that are missing on the muffler, which is not necessary as my car was a police car and the police was driving this car as it is. I bought all parts and expend only 40$ to replace both links and to installed the two clamps.
