This show is always at its peak when they have New Yorkers on. Even when they're just random people in the street, that's why I love their outside segments. They also have a good flow.
nicolasviaje yes because they’re almost always Knick fans too so they can talk about that. Tracy Morgan, ASAP Rocky, Wu Tang interviews were so good for that reason, they can talk so much New York stuff but it’s also not very exclusive either which is great
This was an excellent discussion. Could have taken place on the street corner, barber shop, Church basement, or a pissy staircase. So beautifully hood, I loved it.
A Ramírez you ever notice the more "religious" a person claims to be the more it resembles the opposite? Like they start quoting weird parts of the Bible, or start preforming bizarre rites and rituals that haven't been preformed since it was legal to own another person.
Should have done this episode on a stoop somewhere in BK or Bx cause of the genuine real talk content.they was just vibing and shootin the sh*#. This is that OG NY sh*$ real talk right here....
Im not the first one in these comments to say it, but this interview literally starts with Spike whispering about basketball to screaming "BIGGIE AND JAYZ WHAT"
"You mean I can't do The Color Purple feat., Amy Schumer?" If I can ask Spike this to his face I'd consider that doing well in life. That got me chuckling loud
Spike Lee talking about the future of the knicks with the same cadence and the same way my homies grandfather used to talk about civil rights “Maybe some day, but not in my lifetime”
Spike even pro black in the way the man speak 😭 Mero usually always captivates the guest’s attention but of course Spike had to have his whole body turned to our black king Desus 😭😭
people are out here tryna call bed stuy Stuyvesant Heights. We've gotta come together and buy property y'all. Keep the five boroughs within the hands of the people
@CokeBoiiMontana I think you misread my first message. I'm from Brooklyn, born and raised, but gentrifiers and people who are selling to them are attempting to rebrand bed stuy by calling ALL OF IT Stuyvesant Heights, instead of JUST the southwest portion. Things are changing quick and it will be worse if we don't act.
@Alfonso G Yep! Gentrification, especially in the face of burgeoning industries like the modern resurgence of marijuana, are the national shifts that fuel that displacement of the "lower" classes. They do it every time!
@CokeBoiiMontana Sis, why all the hostility? I think you're assuming that I'm viewing gentrification from a strictly racial standpoint to assume that is strictly an injustice that is impacting people of color. The injustice in gentrification doesn't solely lie with the displacement of people of color but of society's current undesirables. It was Jewish people and Italians in the 70s (as well as through other points in history, just citing your example), just as it was Irish people in the mid-19th century. The further categorization of races fuels racism and societal injustice because it is profitable to disenfranchise some at the financial gain of others. That is my problem with gentrification. Just as other forms of injustice, it serves the few, but impacts the many.
I noticed that but also. You ever notice Mero cracks a joke rando, matter of fact, not being Xtra, his, low key like be funny af fuck but Desus will get bigger crowd reactions laughs... (Sometimes) Not that it's not deserved at all. Not having Ijs tho
The playoffs isn’t enough for me anymore! Saw that in the 90s and as much fun as it was as a kid I now want to see at least two finals championships in my life time. Shit has to change with the Knicks! Let’s go KNICKS
This was a genuinely great interview. I knew the brand was strong, but this was some next level shit. I could've sat here and watched them talk for hours.
Spike: I'm asking a question!
Desus _sweating nervously_ : I'm answering the question!
The brand is astronomical
My man just flat out called spike a Nigga hahahaha
A Desus and Mero movie written and Directed by Spike Lee would reverse climate change

Yup

They really should write a movie, I'm sure it's gonna happen eventually.
spike jacket is fire
Poor Mero kept having to tap Spike because he was directing all of his body language towards Desus
I've noticed that in a few interviews. How uncomfortable
If you are right sided is easier to turn that way. Is what I can assume about that.
All the guests do that to him. He’s intimidating to most of them
I think some interviews are for Desus and some are for Mero. . .
I noticed that but also. You ever notice Mero cracks a joke rando, matter of fact, not being Xtra, his, low key like be funny af fuck but Desus will get bigger crowd reactions laughs...

@Pretty AhkiWord!
Like how they get spike leeeeeeee!!! Oh yeh, the brand is strong. ..
This was AWESOME!!
We here in the Bronx got loves of love for our Brooklyn comrades!
00:56 “Confidence in the Knicks front office” - 😐 the length NY Knicks fans will go to delude themselves is part of the problem
Ayo if the Vatican still got followers after touching all them kids we can have faith in the ny knicks till the moon fall off.
nickademas Good... so ur comparing Knicks fans to naive victims being taken advantage of who make excuses for being bent over and abused? 👍🏾 Copy bro
I have confidence in Scott Perry. Steve Mills follows what Scott says. For the last two years there has been minimal distractions.
Bee Ready don’t run with my analogy bro you’ll hurt yourself.
nickademas I’m cool - that’s all you buddy
Bih I'm in new York, born and raised. Upstate. Anyways spike Lee made malcolm x and my guys made this show...east coast love...
Fucking fantastic interview ❤️ you guys are the BEST!!
BRAND IS STRONGGGGG
This Knicks convo aged perfectly
Shoutout to that outro beat
3 of my favorite New Yorkers here
Was it me or did Spike gravitate more towards Desus? And was kinda like “yeah yeah Mero”
Bc desus is black
Naw it's because he wasn't feeling Mero's antics
I’m so in love with Desus and Mero! They are fucking GREAT!
Great interview!
Like Jordan Peele said (jokingly): Get some caffeine in your system, Spike!
At 8:19 mero tries to change topic and switch gears and got denied, funny
I loved this !
Shout out Pink Houses! 😂😂
Sounds like such a nice place. Is it affordable?
@@Onserio. 😂😂😂
They look like they can eat spike at any given moment. I was in suspense the whole time.
No that you say that now I'm imagining two dudes tried to rob Spike in NYC and he just started talking about the Knicks and they calmed down 🤣
Reggie vs Spike is forever iconic
Do more of the right thing!! LOL🤣🤣
Bodegaaa gang
Yo I’m @1:01 in to this and I want to know who is spikes connect bro ... he’s out here talking like Jimmy whispers in Bronx tale bruh
Mad obscure with the reference b.

i agree with Spike ill take the train ride to go to Yankee stadium but that's about it
Yerr never forget where hip hop started #StandthefuckupBronx
GoodGod Jay hip hop started in Jamaica by way of Africa. It was popularized in the bronx though
Desus YELLING at Spike and still be cool is why the brand is BROLIC AND CINEMATOGRAPHICAL

The Knicks are gonna get KD & Big Bully 🦴🏀
Chilly Mack BIG BULLY!
My guy said Big Bully! Hahaha
This comment 🔥
"Did it, he's driving around in a Kia"
??
when deus gives the audience 'don't encourage that look' when mero does something stoooopid.
at 5 minute mark lower your volumes cuz spike voice goes from "I could barely hear this guy" to "UNCLE SPIKE IS FIRED UP OUTTA HIS SLEEP"
Did they give Spike one of those lit drinks before he came out?
THE BRAND IS BROLIC 💪🏿
Mr. Lee was cold-shouldering Mero for most of the episode. Mero even leaned in to try and get more attention.
dave williams y’all think into stuff too heavy
Spike is a little guy. Mero is intimidating to have hovering over you. Most guests do this to him subconsciously
The legend!
“Outside Man” LOL
