    This is amazing! Thank you so much!
    For anyone else interested... metric
    -114 grams Gelatine
    -340 grams Vegetable Glycerine
    Random factoid
    Vegetable Glycerine can be used as a laxative hence why it is sold at a chemist/pharmacy. It is also a popular ingredient for e-cigarettes/vapes. Not to be confused for Propylene Glycerine which can also be used in vapes. So huge thanks for confirming which one- VG, not PG :)
    Recommend buying Vegetable Glycerine online from vape suppliers as it is much cheaper than chemist. (I'm a vaper myself and buy from Basedrop in Australia for about 10 bucks a litre. Chemist is about 20 for 100mls so )
    Can't wait to try this! Be using Gelatine sheets not powder (cheaper but better quality) so will see how it works. Will share results.

      Made it!
      Halved and quarter'ed recipe.
      If using different forms of gelatin, like gelatin sheets for example... make sure the first half cup of cold water is actually hot and mix that with the VG. It will cool down when mixed. Then add to pre-cut sheets.
      Also if you have a digital thermometer, after adding all ingredients and if not dissolving, you can add to the stove in a cook pot and gently- VERY gently, mix it between 60° to 65° degrees. Taking it off the heat and placing it back on to keep it in that "sweet" spot. Most of the gelatin should dissolve no matter what brand or type you use.
      And this may seem like a silly, common thing everyone might already know but hey, good to try crazy stupid things anyway... don't use blender or even coffee whisk (battery powered one).
      It went from a beautiful, transparent mix to a opaque white mess of bubbles! Despite mixing all the gelatin.

      @@shoshannaesam6067 Just note it's A-OKAY if it comes out that white foam like. Just let it set in the fridge per normal until it 'solidifies' than microwave it and let it sit out at room temp for an hour. It does solidify back down to a clear solid though may still look like a foam topped beer. Just cut off the foam part and microwave the foam again. It's a few extra steps but it does still work!

    I finally got around to making some last weekend and while I followed the recipe to the letter, I was a bit worried at first. When I mixed it, there were zero chunks to strain out and the color was an even lighter and more translucent color than any batch I'd ever seen in other peoples' videos. Thankfully, none of that mattered because it solidified nicely in the fridge. I tried it out with two different figures (a little 2" Mirage from Transformers and a 4" Solaire from Dark Souls) and it worked great! Thanks!

    hey guys, ive just made some of this and it's great. I just wanted to comment and let people know that this stuff doesn't react like regular silicone and sets perfectly when you use it on 3d prints this is an absolute game-changer for me thank you so much

    • @TAiiNE
      @TAiiNE 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The curing issue with 3D prints and silicone comes from the sulfur that 3D printing resin uses in its mix. Sulfur has a bad reaction with titanium based silicones and thus you get the issue with curing.

    Hi! I'm a baker, and my husband and I are just getting in to 3d printing and resin casting. Based on my baking experience, I'm thinking you would avoid lumps altogether if you stirred the gelatin with the cold water first (without the glycerin), allowed the gelatin to completely hydrate, and then added the glycerin with the hot water. I don't think that change would mess with the integrity of the compound...

    • @ryanpooley
      @ryanpooley 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did it this way and here were my results. The amount of cold water used wasn't enough to fully hydrate the gelatin and by the time I went to add the glycerin in the gelatin had solidified into a weird chunk and it was hard to incorporate. I ended up using a hand mixer on high with a towel over the bowl cuz it was messy and got the gelatin broken down enough but it almost looked curdled! I thought it might be ruined but when I added the boiling water in it all came together and I didn't have a single chunk to strain out!! It was pretty frothy so I did skim some off the top though I'm sure if you were it would go away. Not sure I'd recommend this method but the end result was very good.
      I hope this is helpful to somebody!

    First, thank you for the clarification on the gelatin envelopes vs boxes. I really wish more people would remember that when talking about unflavored gelatin. Second, have you ever tried using a whisk to mix this up? I'm just wondering if that would help with the lumps a bit more. I'll certainly be trying this out soon. Really appreciate you sharing your tips and tricks! (Also, glycerine is typically used to to help dry skin, so if you did mix it with your hands, they'd probably be very soft when you were done!)

    • @TAiiNE
      @TAiiNE 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jennercustomtoys What I find works best is a hand mixer. You get little to no lumps (and thus less waste) however doing this makes it come out very foam/sponge like at first but letting it set per normal than microwaving it and letting it set again lets it solidify properly though this may need to be done two or three times, as it likes to leave a foam top almost like a beer so just cutting off the foam and re-microwaving said foam turns it back into a proper liquid fix's it right up.
      I do wonder anyway to toughen this stuff up? It does like to rip really easy and I find even casting an item inside pulling it out more often than not rips this stuff up. So any idea how to make it a bit thicker or stronger?

The mold itself is re-usable to make multiple copies of a Master, but unlike your great idea, I'm not sure the resulting latex mix mold material can be re-heated and re-used for another Master. I've made this following along with you and your recipe. Not sure if I did something wrong in the actual mxing or anything, but mine no matter what keeps ending up with a white foaming beer head when cured. Anytime I melt it down to pour a mold, it looks clear pours normal, bit as it's cooling starts to form a foamy white beer head. Not sure if I did something wrong along the way. I made mine right along with watching your video and I measured everything out exactly the same. It does make a mold and will cast things just fine, just it has a foam head on the top exposed area once cooled down. Did I overmix perhaps introduce too much air in the batch? I did notice when I very first made the batch it looked more milky and frothy after sitting in the fridge. Once I did the first melt down, it turned clear amber. Just now it always has a head of foam on it. I did use Knoxx brand gelatin but I could only buy the glycerin from ebay which was a different brand than what you had. Not sure if maybe it had something it that didn't work quite with this.

      I get a little of that foam sometimes also. It's never really hurt my mold though. I think it might be from over heating in the microwave. Let it cool a little before you pour it on your master when making a mold. See if that helps.

      If you are referring to Liquid Latex for makeup and also certain types of molding methods then no, not at all. It is a cheaper reusable substitute for silicone molds. The problem is if it’s hot , it will destroy my casting which is made of silicon

    Why not use Brand Glycerine? $$$$

    In the recipe, it states that we require 12 oz of glycerine, or 1 1/4 c. It is actually 1 1/2 c of glycerine.

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glycerin is more viscous than water, therefore it weighs more. I use two 6 ounce bottles as that's how they're sold here where I live. When poured into a measuring cup it comes out at 1 1/4 cup.

    Can this be used for UV Resin molding?

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as the resin doesn't heat when it cures I would think. Give it a try and let us know.

    Does it work on polyethelene, polyurethane and polyester? Thanks!

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't tried those with it. What I can tell you is any resin that heats up probably won't work well.

    I’m trying to use this method to make reusable dice molds but it keeps breaking when I take the dice out is there a way to make the mold material stronger?

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Put it in the refrigerator after your casting cures. Or when you make a fresh mold put it in the refrigerator and it will get more rigid.

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, the more you use the compound the better it works.

    Cant you desolve the powder in the hot water then add the cool?

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It seems to get less lumps when you saturate it with the cold water first.

    Anyone try casting wax in this recipe? I made it and I was able to cast wax in it. The interesting thing is that although the wax is Molten it cools rather quick and also I put the mold in the freezer LOL

    • @jennercustomtoys
      @jennercustomtoys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great idea... I tried once and it melted the mold. However freezing it is a great idea.

    • @dancingwithfatherhood5043
      @dancingwithfatherhood5043 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jennercustomtoys I made the mold first then I froze it then I poured the hot wax in and put it back in the freezer immediately. As far as melting the mold it’s smoothed out some details but it didn’t melt out the structure too much
