The middle sail is neutral on the junk, meaning the ship pivots around that sail, and it's also the main driving sail. Plus that sail allows you to fully control it while facing forward.
Yes, that does make total logical sense! In hind sight, going into harbour with the front sail up was the worst of three options. :D Thank you for your comment.
the junk is my favorite ship, its just such a good ship considering most of the lines goes to the cockpit. makes it super easy to handle it, even in storms.

Thank you. It's messing with my ability to have end screen videos and it looks weird when I post the link in discord. So, I'm still weighing up the pros and cons of it.
I didn't think I'd like the Junk, but after having sailed it, I think its my favourite so far. My maiden voyage was during a storm and I had no issues at all. She sailed straight, full sail, through the heart of the storm as if it were nothing. Plus I love the little hidden storage areas. I use them for extra supplies.
7:35 -- RE: New Cool Stuff; The Red and Green lanterns are great, but my favorite compass in the game for permanent placement is the Emerald Archipelago version. The Clock is also a better contrast for reading at night.
Hmmm, if I was a rich man...... I'd buy all the things! I did look at the clock but then I though "I've already got one and I'll spend all my money on a clock collection". As it is I now have the start of a pipe collection. :D
@@PorthosUK Full Disclosure -- I felt your pain re: the cost of items in Emerald region, so I trade stuff in. Old Al Ankh Clock got traded, so did the Al Ankh Compass.
Appreciate this is old but was in my feed and watched so commented. The stars could be dimmed at the centre because that's what our eyes do, we have more colour receptors at the centre of our focus, with more contrast detectors at the edges, so you can often see stars out the corner of your eye that you turn to look at and they disappear.
Beautiful video. May I know what are the 2 songs you use. When sailing of the Junk from pier, and as you approach and leave the gates of Dragon Cliff. Thanks.
41:30 -- RE: Drydock Items for the Junk; I know, you like to use the default rigging. But hey, you can take off that rear roof at the drydock, too. What a pain in the butt it can be at times.
When I get this game I will start in the medium area. Go from carb beach, to dragon cliffs , to sage hills and go from there. I wish luck on getting the other two pipes and white tobacco. You can find the next pipe in dragon cliffs and sage hills.
Dont get hanged up on the dificulty of the starting areas, its kind of misleading and lacks some info; in my opinion they would be better classified this way: Al Ankh: Weather: Easy Ships: Medium/Easy Navigation: Hard Emerald Archipelago: Weather: Hard Ships: Easy Navigation: Medium Aestrin: Weather: Medium Ships: Hard Navigation: Easy My recomendations to new players is to start a new save on each area, do a trip or two, and then decide which is going to be your main save.
Indeed! I reckon @PorthosUK will have to make a trip back one day to buy the 2 mast Kakam starter boat! Will probably be quite practical for the new area, though really want to see him take the Junk there too!
I could never quite enjoy the Junk. It just heels and takes on water so easily compared to either of the other large ships IMO. Not to mention how crowded it is. The "bridge" section of it is nice though. Then again, I already had a fully customized Brig that I was very comfortable with by that point. So the Junk was probably doomed from the start for me due to the shoes it had to fill.
Ah, I imagine coming from the Brig it would feel cramped! I've been saving the brig till last because it feels more end game. The last ship we upgraded from in this series was the Cog so, it's a welcome change! I was just starting to feel more at ease with the Cog so it's a shame to part ways just as we were making friends, but maybe it's good to leave things on a high note. Thank you for your comment, I love reading them.
Hell yeah, the Brig is a cruising machine. I have mine barque-rigged with three masts and thirteen sails including six staysails. It is a lot to manage, but if you plan maneuvers it's not bad and it's easy to trim. And it makes 8-12 knots reliably, depending on wind. It can reach 14 knots in a gale. But then again, I am now super engrossed in a long trip on the Cog with a gaff rig and a genoa and it is a BLAST trying to keep it in trim as it is a LOT of sail for such a small boat.
@@DFASixMarbles That's the fun of the brig. By that point you've got plenty of food stores etc, so maintaining the sails is about all there is to do, may as well maximize.
I don't know how the TH-cam algorithm works, and i don't know if you check your views, but i would like to use you as my guineapig if that's ok. I have learnt that you cant send more than 1 like from a computer regardless of the number of tabs opened. But i did wonder that if you open 20 tabs and view the same video on each (as i have done) whether it would register as 20 different views? Just wondering!! Anyway, thanks so much for all of the uploads.
I appreciate the sentiment. I don't know but I suspect TH-cam may have thought of that. I know time watched is a thing. So, people who watch on 2x speed only count as half the time watched. I'm not suggesting people watch on slow motion though. haha. TH-cam tells me views, time watched, subscriptions, (people who subscribe while watching a video and viewers who are subscribed vs those that are not. Subscribers count as better views. The other one I get told at the end of the month is the amount of shares. There's lots of analytics to look at. This video I decided just to have fun with it and not worry too much about spending half the video shopping :D
