Nice to see you back, Sailwind's customization is a lot of fun to tinker with.

I want to do another set of instrument guides, with a little better flow, and minimal channel branding, as the Wiki people have already asked if they could post my guides. So that'll be my next big set if Sailwind projects.

According to my observation, customizing the kakham does nothing, after improving the dhow the speed increases by up to 4 knots (up to 10 knots / h), in this case the maximum speed downwind (squarex2 + gaff x2 + small junk jib) adds almost nothing, you still achieve maximum 6 knots. It greatly increases the amount of ropes to be handled. The most important thing to me is throwing out the hammock, you can buy a bed at the market. In the hammock, when I woke up, when I accidentally clicked on a barrel or a chest - all my fresh water landed overboard. The Kakham is currently the most maneuverable ship in the game, but that's its only advantage. OK - yet - it's the prettiest of small boats.

My rig is very close to this, and she's ok in local regions. When you get out in the swells and storms, she's prone to lean easily in heavy crosswinds. I might remove the jib or just leave it up in open waters in the future.

I wondered if that much square yardage might make it less stable in open water.

I've seen in your videos that you're concerned with counter pressure influencing the rudder. Does it really matter? Is the boat slower if it's not sailing with the rudder neutral?

The only tool we have isn't particularly accurate at measuring speed, and the conditions vary a lot so it's really hard to tell to be honest, so it's hard to tell with accuracy.
I have since learned that sailing vessels routinely trimmed for neutral helm / rudder, so I hope, as the simulation gets more sophisticated we would want to use that. For instance, sails will have wind-shadows soon.

I love the customization on the Kakam. It really lets you have variety. I only wish it was longer/wider. I find it too cramped.

It is, after all, one of the starter ships, which are all characterized by some form of cramped spaces. What I hope for is the ability to trade in our custom ship for some value toward the larger ship otherwise people may skip customization on the starter all-together, and just save up.

@@SimGamerTV Agreed, but I say this in reference to the Dhow. Kakam has better sailing arrangement, but is smaller in size. That small size making it more difficult to get good amounts of cargo aboard. Even the opening 2 quests I have trouble loading it in without trouble.
Though I do agree we should be able to turn in ships. Maybe even Rep lock them to try and make people customize there ship, that way they can get that rep upgraded faster.

@@SimGamerTV But with your customization, the biggest expense was the rear roof (1,288). Without it, customization costs around 2,000. And as I wrote before, IMHO not so much increases the ship's performance

I hope proper reefing will be implemented some time soon...

If your sail does not fully let out means, it doesn't actually work with the ship. Maybe raise the sail up or get a smaller sail in the dockyard. Had that with the Cog when I converted it to a single mast Caravelle the largest lantern sail, would turn fine one way but not the other, even though the dockyard said it was fine.

Not that I know of. But it's a stock unity save, so pretty easily editable with the right tools.

How great would A game like this be. If it had multiplayer, crafting and combat. Maybe A little magic. A pirate's haven! All built by in game players!
