What adds another layer of horror to the legacy of this sociopathic deity's minions is that a disturbing number of them would *pay* to push that button. A superb video, Curmudgeon!
Kaycee K Of course, those who would pay to push that button are also operating on the assumption they’ll be dispatched to Heaven where they’ll have the infinite pleasure of watching all of their “enemies” tortured and forced to endure unimaginable suffering and excruciating pain for all eternity in a variety of creatively horrific ways. Because they’re such good, kind, loving people - you know, just like the imaginary “God” they worship. Psychotic idiots.
***** A great many of gaawwd's people are already rejoicing regarding the horrors they're certain will be eternally visited upon their enemies. Such is the nature of their sanctified, self-righteous sadism that the tortures they desire inflicted upon those deemed deserving exceed the brutality of Josef Mengele.
Kaycee K A lot of believers are deeply disturbed, mentally unbalanced people, of that that I have no doubt whatsoever given the inordinate joy at which they relish the torments of Hell being visited on those who’ve trespassed against them (or even just slightly annoyed them in some way or other).
White Sorcerer I’m inclined to think so. It’s hard to see how anyone that seriously believes in most religious dogma isn’t suffering from a kind of mental disorder. People who actually believe that demons and angels are real things, that they’re possessed by the Holy Spirit or that Jesus talks to them on a regular basis… It's all just madness.
Eddie Rod *_"+Paul T Sjordal The Bible, God's inerrant Word, tell us that there is both a heaven and a hell. If we receive one and reject the other, we are reflecting upon the truth of God's Word. But we are not left to depend upon the opinions and speculations of men."_* Right in these few sentences you nicely sum up what is incoherent about your world view. The text of a particular book is absolutely correct, and no one can possibly convince you otherwise no matter how valid their criticisms are. You will simply dismiss any evidence and any argument, so your beliefs have no self-correcting mechanism; you have no way of finding out if you're wrong.
You have a little oopsie daisy @ 2:14 : ) Point taken, however. I also have found it very curious and predictable that many fundies use the threat of hell as a way of projecting their own bigotry. For example, many in the fundie mainstream love to vitriolically yammer on about how the homosexuals that they personally hate are going to burn in hell forever, yet have nothing but a voice of protection, love and support for those of the Jewish faith that will be burning in, and deserving of hell, under the same biblical justice system that they claim to abide by, for the equal sin of rejecting Jesus as savior and denying the "truth" of the New Testament. That phrase, "oh, are you going to burn for that" is used by many theists and non theists alike to express personal extreme anger and/or hatred for someone else's actions that one, as an individual, finds reprehensible. The difference is, fundies believe it and revel in the thought.
FishHeadSalad Oh shit. Why do I do that? The sad thing is, I looked those clips over and over and over and over and didn't see it. LOL I'm such an idiot.....
TheCurmudgeon I think we all do that. ;-D I know I do! And, of course, after looking at any vid I am making over and over checking for spelling or grammar as I go and then again before I render it and then again before I upload it... I always find at least one more "after" I upload. Oh well, whatta ya do?
While the god described is horrible, as I understand it the notion of hell didn't exist until later on, before I think you got sent to some purgatory thing where you suffered for your sins and then went to heaven (a purifier of souls if you will). Of course the idea of a eternal hell is much more scarier and better for scaring people into the religion.
+Pogue Mahone My apologizes for not responding sooner, I didn't see your comment. The song is from the German band Coroner and it's called Paralyzed, Mesmerized from the album *Grin*

I'd sooner mess around with the box from Hellraiser than that box.
Having a conscience is an abomination unto the lord. Repent!
Gluteus Illuminatus Praise Vishnu and Ganesh! Namaste!
What a great way of putting the Problem of Hell.
Paul T Sjordal Thank you!

I guess as long as somebody labeled the button with the phrase "Perfect Justice" it's OK to push.
A common theological mistake, God did not create hell! Hell is a state of depravity (of God), it results automatically if one is separated from God.
+Gluteus illuminatus Seeing the face of the lord will kill you
Yet several people have seen it according to the bible.

FishHeadSalad What is the oopsie?
TheCurmudgeon It was Noah, not Moses that you describe there.

NetraAmorosi As the great Christopher Hitchens said, the meek and mild Jesus was the one to introduce the concept of hell.
What's that kickass metalicious song in the background of this video, if you don't mind me asking?

TheCurmudgeon I thankest thou kindly, dear sir.
