    Interesting technique! One little correction at 4:15: the "boil" (or turbulent displace) doesn't affect the noise pattern (well, it does slightly, but only because you are changing the outside bounds of the shape layer). Effects never affect Layer Styles, as Layer Styles are always applied last. To achieve movement on the "dissolve" noise, you could do an adjustment layer above the shape layers.

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It effects the Shape which in effect moves the noise is what I was meaning to say! :)

    Thank you, very nice tutorial! You can animate noise by choosing «dancing dissolve» in the blend mode

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      unfortunately...and for some odd reason, there is no dancing dissolve in the layer styles blending mode. go look and you'll see theres no dancing dissolve!

      Thanks dude! Just watched yours and love how much control you have over the grain look but yeah, the layer style method is a bit easier but less control. Each has its strengths! :) Awesome channel, BTW!

    Using the TwirlExplode keyboard shortcut will take care of all that annoying twirling. Hit one button and see all the selected layer's stuff. Hit that same button again to completely untwirl the layer. Not sure however what actual button the shortcut is on a US keyboard though

      So many shortcuts, so little brain space to keep them all! :)

    but what about if i just want to add an overall noise layer like in photoshop where you make a 50% grey layer, change it to overlay and then add noise? how do i do that in after effects?

    Hello everyone.
    I've recently bought the "Shade_It" plug in from eyedesyn for After Effects CC 2018, but it does not work.
    When I create a shape layer in Ae, select it and then click on the "Shade It!" button, nothing happens. Like... at all. No matter if it's a shape layer or a regular solid, nothing applies, nothing works, no effect is being added.
    Could someone please maybe help me out? I bought this plug in specifically for a project that is coming up and that would save me so much time.
    Cheers.

    Ayo EJ... when I try to bring the noise of the stylin' layer to 3d, it's illin'

    • @eyedesyn
      @eyedesyn  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Layer styles might be weird when it comes to 3D layers, best bet is to precomp the 3D layer so it's flat and then apply the layer styles. good luck!
