- You may wonder make RavenEye work with a Sony A7IV or A7Siii camera. In this video I show which cords go where, and how to make use of the RavenEye DJI Ronin Image Transmitter.
It's also useful as a remote wireless monitor.
Im using a Sony a74 and a7s3.

I would use the Force Mobile feature to when filming sports, as it is required to elevate the camera with a Super High Telescopic Stand, but am curious if I can achieve this idea with latency between what the camera see and what I see on my phone

This was awesome! I have the Raveneye but I will say it doesn’t seem to work as well with my new canon camera as it did with my Sony. I used the record off the phone using Raveneye but then it came through with no sound. For some reason when I push record on the camera it works.
Also never knew I could change the active track speed! Thank you
That’s really weird about recording with no sound! All it should be doing is triggering the same record button on your camera. That’s a mystery!!
@@NicholasJamesJohnson yeah not sure. Also my screen goes black on the Canon with the Raveneye so I have to rely on the phone for the exposure and visual settings which is not the best
@@davidmaxfieldgolf you have to activate in camera that hdmi + screen is active while hdmi cable is connected. you can do that in the first red menu on the last section.

I'd like use the FX3 with Raveneye while using the FX3 as a Camera on Zoom. To do that, from what I understand, you have to disable Bluetooth on the FX3 settings. If you do that, you can't control the Ronin or Raveneye or Creator App. Are you able to use your camera on Zoom while using Raveneye?
would the raveneye work with the rs3 mini too?

Could you control the camera from the external monitor? Like start recording or change ISO?
Also couldn't you just connect the camera to the gimbal via bluetooth
My external monitor, Ninja V, doesnt have the ability to control my camera. But your phone can. For whatever reason, the only control you get between camera and gimbal over bluetooth is the start/stop recording button.. Maybe a firmware update can change that later?
Does this app record to your mobile with a LUT you selected?
Does this work with the rs3 mini?
What are the Sony settings for this? Smartphone control off? USB mode PC Remote? I dont think you can use the sony image app AND ronin right?

Does it work with the a7rii and a external monitor
when i connect my wifi phone with ronin app and connect raveneye. my camera says check the connection power supply capable only thru USB type C port. Im using sony FX3 cinema camera. got rid of that connection error. but raveneye shows wifi on but app will not connect to ravenye to see live view on phone

Really like your production quality! I am interested in using the RavenEye with my A6600 to help me be in front of the camera and video myself. Do you think the functionality of the false colors, zebras, etc. you get through your phone are a reasonable substitute in place of having an external monitor?
Thank you, and yes I do.. I have a Ninja V I typically have on top of my camera when I want to see really specific things like that for shoots.. And the Monitoring through the Raveneye matches up almost exactly. The A6600 was the first camera I used with RavenEye - if youre using the RSC2 gimbal, you need to use whats called the 'Sony Multi cable' instead of USBC - it will be in the kit that comes with it.
@@NicholasJamesJohnson Thanks! That is great to know. I just bought a Feelworld monitor for the same price, but I might return it and get the RavenEye instead. I didn't realize it was so useful without a gimbal - especially for a solo shooter like myself. I don't have a gimbal yet, but I'm seriously looking at the RS3. Nice to see the RavenEye is finally available on Amazon without having to bundle it with the RS3 Pro.
I have a7s3 connected and the screen isn’t working with the app… is there a way to see footage on Camera screen with the ronin app….. camera screen only works when I shut raven eye off??
I'm trying to connect the RavenEye that I got couple days ago following your steps but unfortunately I can't because the RavenEye doesn't turns blue if you can help me I will really appreciate any info. I have the Sony A7 iv.
So make sure you've got the ronin app open, and then go to your wifi settings and join the raven eye wifi. The blue light is because you've connected to its wifi.
Yeah. But still impossible to use HDMI out from your camera to an external monitor TOGETHER with USB-C to USB-C AND retain camera control functionality with the wheel on the gimbal. Three years in there's still no fix for that.
Yeah, that is bonkers! I can’t accept that those things can’t all be done at once. Same as showing the info on the camera screen while also HDMI out the screen with extra info.
Have you upgraded your A7iv to the latest 2.0 firmware. I am Having video issues with Raveneye since update.

Hey I’m looking to get the rs3 but the combo doesn’t include the raven eye transmitter so would have to buy it separately on Amazon which is making me worried that it won’t work, should I just get the rs2? 🙏
It will definitely work with the rs3. I got my raveneye over a year ago with the RSC2 and that same raveneye works with the new rs3.

Wicked. I wonder if this would work well for a one person shoot so that during wedding speeches it tracks the speakers while other angles are shoot by the that one person.

It would work but there could be things that mess it up. If someone crosses in front of the camera for too long, it would lose the lock and stop following.
Interesting! Question, have you tried it on a longer focal length? Like 300mm or even 500mm. Thanks in advance.
The longest focal length Ive tried is 200, and it works perfectly fine.. My 150-600mm lens is SUPER heavy, I suppose if there isnt much up/down movement I dont see why it wouldnt work.. Ill put that on the list for video ideas - BIG LONG lenses on a gimbal

I have an aps-c camera and a 400mm lens, that would give me a full frame equivalent of 600mm. If this gimbal works with a 600mm lens, I think I would definitely buy this gimbal.
Would be very helpful to know as I intend to use the setup for film sports when the gimbal is mount on a 24ft telescopic stand.
On a7iv can i use multiport slot instead of type c slot?

Does the LiDAR work with the RS3? If I got the raven eye or is that just with the PRO version?
It looks like the LiDAR only works with the RS3 Pro, not the RS3. Thats a bummer, I love Lidar.,
I’m so confused… for the bottom (3rd) port in the rs3 is a usb c to usb c… my kit only came with one usb c to usb c cord which was for camera to top rss port? The only cords I have left in my kit are hdmi
Oh! Well you ought to have some usb c to usb c cords laying around somewhere? They couldn’t plan for every camera brand of course.
I have the Sony A1, and connected the cables as you stated, but I can't get the Sony Camera functions (ISO, exposure) to set up in the Ronin App. PC Remote function is set to On. Any thoughts ?
Does the a1 also have a USB-Micro slot like the a7siii does? Sony did this weird thing where you can get picture sent OR camera control but for some reason not both.. On some cameras, you have to hook the ronin up with whats called a "Sony MultiCable" which looks just like a Micro-USB but is not a micro-usb. It's the most confusing set of parameters for seemingly no reason at all. But your gimbal would have originally come with a 'multi-cable'.... you can get them on amazon if it didnt. Im curious to hear if that works because I definitely want an A1 in my future.
@@NicholasJamesJohnson after playing around with it the issue was the usb-c cable. It didn’t like two different cables I used, but eventually it did line the third one…which was the USB C to USB C that came with the gimbal 🤣

I have an A1 as well but for the love of god I can not get the PC Remote function to show up it only says Auto, Mass Storage, or MTP. Is there some special trick I need to do to get it to show up? thanks

Yes - you can go to your HDMI display settings and turn off info display, then you'll get picture in the LCD as well as the raven eye - but on the raven eye picture, you will no longer see camera settings like shutter speed, Aperture and ISO. I have NO IDEA why they dont allow both
my phone doesnt show the image, it does connect but doesn’t produce sny image
So this pretty much gets rid of the need to have a big monitor mounted to the ginbal
What’s the battery life on it?
That’s a good question! I’ve never used it long enough to run out. I’m pretty sure it charges off of the gimbal while in use.
Does it work on RS3 Mini as well?
It should, not sure where would you mount it, perhaps on the hot shoe

Oh!? I must have had a second one just laying around in my pile of stuff, I didnt realize it didnt come with everything you need. There are so many cameras out there with different connection types, I guess DJI couldn't supply what you need for all. SURELY you have a USBC cable around somewhere?
@@NicholasJamesJohnson I definitely have one, but I just think it’s weird DJI doesn’t mail everything you need to get this to work in the box, especially with the excess of cords in the hdmi dept.

Raveneye shouldn't have anything to do with recording. It's just sending a monitor signal to your phone and controlling where the gimbal faces. You can still just record to your camera like always.. Or do you mean record through your phone?

Do you mean it isnt doing anything at all, or its too slow and lets you get out of frame?

@@corysmith2317 You must not have one of the USB cables hooked up. One of them goes from the raven eye to the gimbal itself in order to tell it what to do. Make sure the symbols match
If I'm not mistaken, adding the Raveneye to your setup means you can only record in 1080p, isn't that correct?
No, that is incorrect. At least with the four cameras Ive used Raveneye with, a7siii, a7iv, zv-E10 and A6600, all can record in 4k with raven eye.
@@NicholasJamesJohnson Interesting. When I did this with my Fuji XT4, I was limited to only 1080p modes. I will have to try on the GH6 and S5iiX when it arrives. Perhaps something has changed.

Unfortunately no - it's pretty annoying that you can control the gimbal object tracking OR the camera focus tracking but not both. But, the gimbal is made to work with a TON of cameras, and I understand them not being able to dig into the cameras software and work together. You CAN have a second phone connected to the camera through the new Creators App from Sony and do the camera control on one phone and the gimbal control on another phone and just have a big heavy rig.

@@RaffaelWagenhoff no no, there is a new app called Creators app. It's made by sony directly. With it, you can see through your camera and also control the camera, including touch to focus track.

@@RaffaelWagenhoff Download the app and it will walk you through it. It's very easy. Although your camera does have to have wifi and bluetooth turned on.

Your question isn’t entirely clear. But it sends the stream to your phone. HDMI out of the camera into the raveneye and wirelessly from raveneye to your phone.

I have Raveneye + RS3 but active track has stopped working. It already worked! now it doesn't work. I see the image, I can change the aperture and shutter speed, I connect the cables, I do everything right, but the RS3 doesn't follow me. I tested it with the EOS R6 and R7. What's happening?

@@gamewavelondon You want to control the gimbal without a camera on it!? Yes, you can use raven eye to control the gimbal without sending the camera feed to your phone. You just cant do subject tracking or anything like that if it cant see through the camera.

Unfortunately not to control the gimbal. You can use it to control camera settings and see the feed from your camera on your phone, but you cant use Active track on the Mini.

@@thefirmstudio figured it out with a series of unplugging and powering down and opening the app. It finally worked but can’t operate with it, too much latency. It’s only good for a director or other viewers.

Haha, I could agree. I’m not an actor, it’s tough to memorize more than a line at a time. And this strange thing happens with a camera running where you just can’t speak continuously even about things that you’re well versed in.
