    I have a question please reply me. I have just bought a new motorbike Yamaha R3. It’s only 600km’s ridden. Does a well lubricated chain effects the ride of your motorcycle? Does it smooth your motorbike ride? Now I want to tell you something, last time when I got my bike washed from a service station and I rode my bike back to home OH MAN the bike was riding smooth AF !!! It was buttery smooth !! Why is that? I really want my motorbike to run butter smooth just like when I got it washed. Please reply 🙏

    Another great video! Add a note about the direction of wheel travel - just like the way you rotated it - moving the wheel backwards or anticlockwise when moving the wheel from the left side of the bike to keep fingers away from the rear sprocket.

    Hey Vikas good job on your video.
    I have a doubt btw.
    Is it really required that we should use a chain cleaner before a chain lube?
    Or can we directly apply the chain lube?

    • @rvkvikas
      @rvkvikas  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sahil N Mohammed Hello mate! Thank you for watching! Yes, it is required to use a chain cleaner to make sure you remove any dirt or previous sticky lube from the chain. If your chain looks clean but only very dry, then just use a cloth to clean it and you can apply the lubricant. Hope you are subscribed to me mate! Have a nice day!

    I'm using Motul chain lube but what i observed that even after lubing my chain started rusting (Only in Monsoon). So i apply a thin layer on greece and that has helped me in avoid rust. So basically its a combination of lube and thin layer of greese.

    Cool video, all points are spot on... In regard to few points on chain wax spray "not there" in 'India' needs to be checked out. it is available By Rolon in market sold in 500ml and 200 Ml (short cans/ Travelers kit). One thing mentioned By Rolon is not to use Kerosene on chain to clean the chain made by Rolon they damage the rubber 'O' rings and X rings on KTM models...
    (yes it is surprising not to use kerosene to clean a chain) they had advised to use chain cleaner only and not any thing else. (dont use paint thinner on chain and not to use coconut oil for lubing the chain/ yes i have few odd riders who use this logic....) safe ride to alll

    After lubing a thick piece of sponge can be used to soak up excess lube And a mix of ep 90 and 140 gear oil works as good as motul chain lube... And economical in case of absence of chain lube..

    Sir what do you think about using "Diesel" for cleaning and "Gear Oil" for lubrication for x ring chains.

    • @dimosk7389
      @dimosk7389 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Gear oil is THE best lubricant for your chain.
      The chain manufacturer says it on the box.
      DO NOT use WD40, it is a penetrating oil and it will penetrate inside the chain pins and dissolve the lubricant that is sealed in there.
      For cleaning, kerosene is also the product that is suggested by chain manufacturer. Not diesel.
      But to be honest, you will never need to clean your chain if you use gear oil. It is not sticky and cleans very easily.

    • @dimosk7389
      @dimosk7389 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sawratkartejas glad i could help. btw, my current chain has 17k kms (roughly 11k miles) and it looks like new only by using transmission oil. i only cleaned it twice because i had nothing to do. and in that period, i never had to adjust the tension of the chain. it still has the length it had in the beginning, while i use my bike on all kinds of terrain (including dirt and mad) and it has a fairly large suspension travel.
      switching from useless spray cans to transmission oil was probably one of the smartest things i did for my bike lol

    Vikas, brother, could you try using kerosene to clean the chain? Lore has it that degreasers damage the internal chan lube(inside the rollers), which comes from the factory. And kerosene is a good solvent for grease but a bad penetrating fluid so it doesn't get inside the chain o-rings. Make a video too perhaps?

    You mentioned not to engage the wheel and gear while holding it for cleaning. Further, you may mention to run the wheel clockwise (like you did) so that our hands don't get dragged towards the sprocket which is dangerous.

    ive used wd40 and wd40 chain cleaner both to clean things in the past and let me assure you when i got my first bike i took the front sprocket cover off the greasy mess i found in their was horrific and the only thing that cleaned it off was wd40 chain cleaner normal wd40 did very little if anything but the way wd40 chain cleaner from their motorcycle range just seemed too make it all break down and drip off the chain was amazing if you use normal wd40 expect to need a tooth brush to clean off any real dirt or thick greese and get caked in it in the process

    Liked your running in vid but not sure about this one. Firstly, a lot of people are against WD40 for cleaning then chain as it is a harsh de greaser and can destroy the o ring seals which are very important for longevity in a chain. Also, a cloth with not clean nearly as well as a brush which gets into the links removing abrasive dirt. But I guess there is more than one way to bake a cake....
