Glad you enjoyed it! I can't believe how many people travel Rt 66 from the U.K.! I did a video with a nice couple from Bristol. Thank you so much for watching, my goal is to share this with Worldwide ROUTE 66 fans. You have a friend on Route 66 :-)
My parents used 66 a lot to go from Missouri to Calif so I feel like I grew up on it. This was the 60s when a lot of businesses were still open. A special place to many of us.
I grew up at a gas station. The office was in the front of the house, connected but only accessible from in the driveway by the pumps. The service station was right next to the house. I had to pump gas every time the buzzer went off while I was doing homework. I've always had an affinity to gas stations, especially the old ones and have always wanted to live in one or have a house built to look like one. This place is very cool, and on route 66 to boot. Awesome
You should fix up that 57 Ford it looks beautiful, I’m only in high school but I’m restoring a 1948 Buick Roadmaster. My friends and I are planning on taking it on a Route 66 trip when we graduate. We’ll have to stop by.
WOW!!! Nice!!! Brings back a flood of memories traveling along these hot, dusty, lonely, roads in the late 50's to late 60's on our way to/from a vacation spot. Mom, dad, and three kids travelling in a pickup camper or a station wagon/Shasta trailer, none with an air conditioner of course. We would pull into one of these little towns having a string of buildings on both sides of the road. Couple of gas stations, several motels, 3-4 bars, and a mom-n-pop convivence store. Days liked to stop somewhere by about 7:00 PM as he didnt like being on the road after dark. Seems there was always a spot available to park an RV with water and electricity. Dad would check the vehicles, mom would start dinner, us kids would run around jumping over fences and walls oblivious to faded, rusty, bullet ridden keep out and no trespassing signs. Hot???? Absolutely! Sometimes we sought temporary refuge in the convivence store taking our time buying something. When the sun started going down dad would break out the lawn chairs and we'd chat about our next leg of our journey or with another RV traveler next door. Night time was a huge relief from the heat. Often times by morning we would need a blanket or jacket as the desert could get very cold at night. I would absolutely love to relive those days.
I remember walking home with an empty gas can because there was NO WAY I was going to pay 27 cents for a gallon of gas! That was about 1965. In 1974 I regularly drove between Biloxi MS and Ft. Walton Beach FL. I filled my tank for 25 cents/gallon regularly. That's a pretty stable economy for NINE YEARS. Look what's happened to the dollar since then.
Somewhere between 1955 and 1966 there's a place that had $20,000 in damage that time. In today's money, 💰 they went on to say it would be 400 million dollars 💰🤑💰💰! Say yes sir, what has happened to Dollars that's not worth three cents anymore. When I was a kid I remember my mom saying I'm not going to spend 75 cents for a Big Mac.
I lived in the place you call the the Valintine Station from about 1964 until 1970. The station was called the Great Western. The wide place in the road was named Annadale. The fruit juice place was a lemonade and orangeade stand. The so called Chief’s motel was the Griggs hotel. There was a small gas station and hamburger joint next door. That was Chiefs place. He was the owner of the Great Western in the 50ties. My uncle bought it from him and he move down the street and leased the station and store. Valentine is the Indian reservation town 3 miles east. It was the BIA headquarters. The post office was at that zoo east of Valentine.
When I was a kid my parents made me ride in the back of a station wagon from MO to CA, all on route 66. I didn't appreciate it back then, but I'd love to do it all over again. Thanks for the tour.
When I first hitchhiked to California in February, 1976, I can still recall being upon route 66 - between Flagstaff and Kingman! Probably went right by the place🎉❤😊!

Shout out to the guy who may have saved my life that night. I had picked up hitchhikers that would not get out of my car. He told me to wait till he got off work and he would get rid of them. Let’s just say… He did. I spent the night at his house with his wife and five children, they fed me pizza, I slept on the couch and locked the door in the morning when I left. Thank you so much sir. I really do believe you saved my life! If I ever get that way again I’ll make sure to say hi.

And I thought I was the only nut that though living in an old gas station was a cool idea ! I drive cross country a lot for UPS passing much of Route 66 . Pretty cool place .
I rode right thru there on my bicycle in 2021. I rode from Southern California to Missouri. I took the route from Kingman, thru Peach Springs & back down to Seligman. That Peach Springs loop was nice. Got to see the train pass by the Valentine Indian BIA building as I was riding.
I love your channel!! I have subscribed!!! Route 66 is an iconic place and I am glad you are preserving the gas station! Maybe you will preserve more in the future.
Love these type of videos. The older I get the more I appreciate it lol. I’m a loner type of person and it’d be great for me except I don’t like bright places. When I’m in the sun floaters annoy me.
I'm LOVING this tour. That 57 Ford deserves some love. That truck nis awesome. Both vehicles with those engines--love straight sixes. The Coke machine--Rick Dale from American Resto would be all over it (and he's in Vegas, where that truck came from, lol). A 28 Chevy in the bushes? Hell yeah! Great find. She's too far gone for resto, but makes great yard art for Valentine station. I love this stuff!
Thanks brother! Greetings from San Diego, by the way.:) Sign sign, everywhere a sign, breaking the scenery, breaking my mind. Don't do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? But on Route 66, we LOVE the signage. lol.
My 1940 Ford Sedan Deluxe would look pretty nice parked out there by your fuel pumps ! I would love to live there in Valentine.......my private little time machine ! Thanks for sharing !
My pleasure! To me this is my life so I naturally think, who is going to care about this stuff, there's nothing to see here. Thank you for your kind words and being the owner of such a awesome machine.
I remember when that station was open when I was driving Route 66 as an over the road Trucker hauling Swinging Beef from Liberal Kansas to The City of Industry, Ca. There used to be a Waitress Linda that worked where we Truckers loved to eat and I wanted to Marry her, But She was at that time dating her boss. I guess that was one way to have a job there as well as the Boss not have to pay big wages.
Really enjoyed your video about Route 66. Bless you for keeping these memories and history of Route 66 alive. Hope to travel through some day on my travels.
Back in the mid-50's we would visit my grandfather's gas station/country store off route 66 just outside of Shamrock Tx. It had two Mobile gas pumps. The front of the store had a bench on either side of the entrance, one with a Dr. Pepper logo and the other an unfiltered Camel cigarette logo. Inside had the usual stuff for back then, and the house was attached to the back of the store. There was a small outbuilding serving as rural postal service, and there was a barn in the back. God I loved visiting there. Enjoy your slice of heaven!
I've driven over 80% of route 66. During many different trips and I'd like to drive it from one end to the other end. Do that in one long trip. Of course in a classic car
Hopefully in starting this channel we can share it with people who will never be able to travel here. Thank you, working on the next videos, Inside tour next.
@@doneown503 It has nothing to do with being clean. Historical photos are ones taken back in the day - not after someone has gone in and straightened up the place.
Wow, the license plate flag is awesome. Great video and the panoramic vista that surrounds the place looks wonderful. And the coin was Dennis Hoppers. lol.
Wow how cool! We are natives from Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii, now living in Las Vegas, NV. Thank you very much for sharing the history of your hometown Valentine. I instantly related to the pogo stick, lawn mower and the tire jack lol. That was my years of growing up on the island. lol Brought back lots of memories. Definitely have your place on our bucket list, we will be doing a road trip soon. Gonna check out the links you have posted. Thank you again! Aloha!
You will love this section of route 66 and it makes a great day trip from Las Vegas. You can start in Oatman and travel to Seligman, and be back in your home by night.
@@valentinestation4275 we been to Oatman, they sell Hawaiian Shave Ice, we were so surprised lol, and stayed overnight in Laughlin 😊, totally loved it! Gonna go back again! We are just immersing ourselves in the rich history and learning so much here in the States … thank you thank you!
What a cool channel! You just came across my feed, and I enjoyed every second of this video with a smile on my face! How I wish my dad was still alive to enjoy it as well - he was a ‘car guy’ and would have been a huge fan. I grew up going to the North Shore Old Car Club events with my family in my dad’s old cars that he would fix up and it was always a fun time. I had to laugh when you rang your driveway bell, you reminded me of when my childhood friends and I would jump on the bell of our neighborhood Mobil station. We would jump up and down on it until the attendants would chase us away 😂 ❤😊
I spent years and years on route 66. Spent a good amount of time in my teens sitting on a bench on route 66 in williams. In the 1990's. Lived on route 66 for years in my 20's and 30's. In flagstaff and williams. Met people from all over the world going to the grand canyon while sitting on the bench in williams. Good times. I even have a route 66 sign tattooed on my forearm. Takes up half my arm.
I was 367 miles from you. My uncle back in 1970 built the KOA Campground in Seligman, Arizona. I visited when he was pouring the concrete for the slab an a Very Cold Day. He burned tires up wind to raise the air temperature over the slab just like farmers did using smudge pots.
Your 57 Ford is nice! If it's rust free in the doors, rocker panels and the rear of the fender openings, she's a keeper. The engine is Ford's 223 cubic inch (3,655 cc's for metric types) six that was used from the mid 1950's in to the mid 1960's, in F100 and some larger trucks, Rancheros, Fairlanes and even Galaxies. They're uncommon now, so parts for a rebuild could be an interesting search. My father had a 1955 F100 and by the time it had 100,000 miles, the poor engine was really tired and by the time it was in the 150,000 mile range it was retired. They tended to burn exhaust valves badly and compression just went to nothing. The intake and exhaust manifolds were a primitive design and tended to leak, which further led to low output. It also appears that the car has maybe one of Ford's worst ideas ever - vacuum powered windshield wipers. Engine vacuum is applied to the unit on the cowl, moving a seal back and forth to move the wipers. As the engine wears less vacuum is created (vacuum on the intake stroke is the flip side of compression so when compression goes so does vacuum) and going up a hill, opening the throttle reduces vacuum even further. As the unit wears it cannot contain the vacuum as well either - all that culminating in wipers that barely function, especially going up hills. It was at best a lousy idea, and at worst dangerous. Electric wipers were an option in the day (hard to imagine), so if a motor and switch assembly can be sourced, that can be swapped out. Highly recommended. Swapping in a modern V8 drive train would be a significant upgrade. Have fun with it.
Man that place is so cool . Used to dream about having auto shop on 66 out of old fixed up station. Maybe when I win the lotto.haha good vid sir you have done some good work.gotta love that view 👍
Just a couple decades ago I would eagerly have bought a property like this myself, but when I look at all the stuff that needs to be done and realise the untold agony that every little detail involves, I cringe. The song that spontaneously came to my mind as I watched this was "Superman" by the Kinks.
@@peteskipeteski4464 That's good, but you would definitely need to have a backup source of electricity like a battery bank and/or a solar system connected to it because you can't survive in that area without air conditioning. A power outage in a situation like that can be deadly with the heat waves we've been having lately.
You know what, I could live like this. I'm a gearhead, love automotive history, this part of Route 66. I'm kinda a recluse and introvert. Prefer minimal people, but maximum element of such an environment. And all of this, as a residence in a vintage gas station! No idiot neighbors, no rent and landlord bullcrap, no HOAs. Just me and all shown in this video. That 76 Station? Also was a post office, I could send and receive my mail all at once, lol. I'll buy it and turn it into my residence! I'll buy all the cars and trucks too. The garages? I'll reopen and use em!

And I thought I was the only nut that though living in an old gas station was a cool idea ! I drive cross country a lot for UPS passing much of Route 66 . Pretty cool place .
Good stuff! I can confirm it IS a 1950
GMC. I enjoyed this!
Nice! It's a good looking ranch truck!
I really enjoy seeing places like this especially along Route 66
have a great weekend and Thank You. 👍⛽🛣🛑🇺🇲
I rode right thru there on my bicycle in 2021. I rode from Southern California to Missouri. I took the route from Kingman, thru Peach Springs & back down to Seligman. That Peach Springs loop was nice. Got to see the train pass by the Valentine Indian BIA building as I was riding.
That's where my mailbox is!! If that canyon could talk...
I love your channel!! I have subscribed!!! Route 66 is an iconic place and I am glad you are preserving the gas station! Maybe you will preserve more in the future.
You should restore the 1957 Chevy!! Great vintage car!!
Love these type of videos. The older I get the more I appreciate it lol. I’m a loner type of person and it’d be great for me except I don’t like bright places. When I’m in the sun floaters annoy me.
This is just incredible!! How I would just love to live there. You are one lucky guy that is absolutely gorgeous Brother.
I wish you could have shown the Ma's Cafe inside and the dance hall inside. I'm 75 and I miss the good old days.
I am 64 Richard and miss this time in America just as much as you do definitely better times
Greetings from San Diego, by the way.:)
Sign sign, everywhere a sign, breaking the scenery, breaking my mind. Don't do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? But on Route 66, we LOVE the signage. lol.
I once owned a 4 door 57 Ford, same colors as yours. Freaky, seeing what might have been mine at one time. I really liked your video. Aaaah, memories.
As a Brazilian, I do not put USA on my bucket list that much, except for my dream of traveling on Route 66.
This part of Route 66 is worth seeing, alittle further East of here is other famous stops too-Seligman, etc. Please come look
I have a 1957 ford custom 300 just like your even blue ❤❤❤❤
Planning on driving the western leg of 66 for the 100 year anniversary in my 1969 Chevelle Concours wagon! Maybe I'll see you. Loved your vid.
Wow! I had a 67 El Camino, and a friend restored a 1970's chevelle, that how I learned. What engine do you have in your too cool for school wagon?
@valentinestation4275 it is a built 461 ci big block Chevy.
100 year anniversary? Please explain
@@peteskipeteski4464 route 66 centennial. Route 66 will be 100 years old in 2026
I remember when that station was open when I was driving Route 66 as an over the road Trucker hauling Swinging Beef from Liberal Kansas to The City of Industry, Ca. There used to be a Waitress Linda that worked where we Truckers loved to eat and I wanted to Marry her, But She was at that time dating her boss. I guess that was one way to have a job there as well as the Boss not have to pay big wages.
She just said that to everyone that was driving past. Move on stud to your wife
Just finished Route 66 and loved every mile. Places like this just makes one feel good.
Aww shucks :-) Route 66 a snapshot of American history on 2 lanes!
It looks like saucers could even land there👽
I hope so 🙂
Really enjoyed your video about Route 66. Bless you for keeping these memories and history of Route 66 alive. Hope to travel through some day on my travels.
You will make some great memories on this road. I hope I am lucky enough to meet you when you do. Thank you for the kind words, I appreciate you!
I miss Route 66 so much!
I've driven over 80% of route 66. During many different trips and I'd like to drive it from one end to the other end. Do that in one long trip. Of course in a classic car
thanks for preserving her.
Hopefully in starting this channel we can share it with people who will never be able to travel here. Thank you, working on the next videos, Inside tour next.
I'm looking forward to visiting!
Kenny!
Some historical photos of these places would be helpful, since we can't get close or see inside.
, it's very possible , not a tidy fellow ! 😮 , happens , , ,
@@doneown503 It has nothing to do with being clean. Historical photos are ones taken back in the day - not after someone has gone in and straightened up the place.
Beautiful place I love ❤️ very much away from people very quiet place, Colonel Jamal
Wow, the license plate flag is awesome. Great video and the panoramic vista that surrounds the place looks wonderful.
And the coin was Dennis Hoppers. lol.
For sure!!
This is so wholesome. What a fun video.
Thank you, I appreciate you watching. I look forward to sharing more stories with you. Thanks again!!
Classic! Vintage gas station. The 60's, 70's, 80's era are the best
Thank you to introduce your living place for me😊
Thanks for watching, I hope to show you more of route 66 and county living!
Amazing Classic Place that still exist even today’s modern places. Cool tour video!
Thanks for watching!
Loved it! I loved your gorgeous Fairlane!
Luck would have it a old Ford guy is moving in nearby so I have some help with this car!
Beautiful place your a lucky guy
I'm lucky to have you as a viewer!! This is a place for gearheads like you, glad to meet you, you got a friend on Route 66!!
You could get away with it as a little kid, any older and you got the mechanic death stare.
@@valentinestation4275 yeah, we were lucky! 🍀 😬
😊thank

Glad you found us :-)
That’s a dream. Looks like the movie It’s a mad mad mad mad world. Very nice. 👍🏻
On my next trip to Sedona or Grand Canyon, I'll swing by and check the place out. Thanks for the tour.
Hackberry general store is 3 miles down the road and is a awesome stop.
It's amazing how much international travelers love route 66!
I never knew there was a Valentine, Arizona! Definitely gonna have to check it out one day!!😁
You should!
Ive always wanted to buy something like this and love in it. Or a old motel in the middle of nowhere. Soo cool
You should!!
Really enjoyed your video, will be following your channel.
Thanks Mike! Hope you have an awesome day!
nice blast from the past
Hello regards from Poland nice to see you 👍😀😀😀😀
Thank you Marcin! You are a inspiration for me with youtube, watching your videos are encouraging me to make my own to share.
@ nice to hear that 👍😀❤️I hope to visit you again sometime
I was 367 miles from you.
My uncle back in 1970 built the KOA Campground in Seligman, Arizona. I visited when he was pouring the concrete for the slab an a Very Cold Day. He burned tires up wind to raise the air temperature over the slab just like farmers did using smudge pots.
Great video, and thanks for sharing! I'll have to stop by when I'm in that area. Watching from Tx.
Liked and subscribed 👍🇺🇸
great video, I really enjoyed it, thanks. I been past your place on my motorcycle many times but never stopped..
Pretty cool watching from Amarillo tx I want to visit Route 66 all the way and visit all museums
That is so super cooool !!!!!!😊😊😊
That would be awesome to live like that
Man that place is so cool .
If it has water and electricity though.....
@@peteskipeteski4464 That's good, but you would definitely need to have a backup source of electricity like a battery bank and/or a solar system connected to it because you can't survive in that area without air conditioning. A power outage in a situation like that can be deadly with the heat waves we've been having lately.
Nice job! Informative and interesting.
This video took me back to good old memory lane. Thank you beautiful place. You should do ghost hunts at night at around there
Great idea
I wait for more films from your amazing station 😀👍 Your sticker is in my garage in Poland 😀👍
Brother!
I am glad that you enjoyed it. I look forward to making more videos for the weirdos like us that like this old stuff :-)
@@valentinestation4275 LOL, thanks man! Saw a T shirt once. It read, "Being Weird Isn't Enough." Love your vids, brother. Watched this one, liked, and subscribed.
