Even if the whole community sides with Pendragon, there's no way the devs wouldn't bring back Flameheart, as he's the game's main antagonist. On the other hand, the community will clearly side for bringing back Flameheart, and since Pendragon is not only one of the main heroes of the game, he's also a favourite son/creation to Rare, so there's no way he wouldn't come back in some other way down the line, regardless.
Meaning - they'll both come back, just Flameheart will be sooner rather than later.
I can see this happening. I think it’s similar to Lost Sands. If we had actually lost Golden Sands Outpost, then Rare would’ve probably given us something new in its place. I think you’re right the Flameheart and Pendragon are both coming back at some point. There’s no way that Rare would actually put Pendragon as the opposite side to Flameheart if they didn’t have a plan to bring him back later. It’s basically guaranteed the Flameheart’s going to win, so I don’t think they’re just sacrificing Pendragon for good. If they were going to sacrifice any Athena character for good, it would be Belle. Maybe Ramsey, but I don’t think they’d actually get rid of the Pirate Lord forever.
Yeah, everyone is super hyped to see flameheart again, but also pendragon did this to himself, he didnt really have to sacrifice himself for this tho :]
I expect the Flameheart side to win fairly decisively, mostly just based on the notion that, even if you've never done a tall tale, you know and have interacted with Flameheart since he was an event, and the whole Reapers faction and hideout was introduced into the game in steps, all based on him at the root.
Pendragon however, most people probably don't even know if they haven't done a bunch of the tall tales. He's been in what, like, 1 part of one or two adventure events ever I think?
I personally will be hoping to save Pendragon. I love that part of his makeup, is that his sword is meant to free the souls of skeletons from their corruption and return them to peace. I actually had thought about that for myself before Pendragon was even introduced iirc LoL, so when I saw that after seeing him/the sword, I was like 😲
Or Rare fudges the numbers to keep Pendragon. We shall see....

It makes me sad seeing people hail flameheart. Is literally a fight between good and evil and everyone is choosing evil.

I think I know where Flameheart will be resurrected. There are six sea forts around the Sea of Thieves, and in the trailer for Siren's Prize there are six dolls surrounding The Herald of the Flame. This may carry into this adventure, and what island is (relatively) in the middle? Shipwreck Bay.
I love that the trinkets we saw at 0:25 are treasure in the game now!
It's soon to be a year and we still haven't seen flame heart's in-game model. Other then his shadow during the skeleton ritual.
I'm guessing by the look of it, we'll know the reapers are winning if flamehearts body emits more red smoke and the red sparks

I’ll say it again we have to make sacrifices for story. Flameheart being banished now is like killing off the main villain before he was screen time in a movie, it’s doesn’t help and despite his evil he has to make a showing in his bodily form.

Lost sands wasn’t gonna bring anything “new” it was either we lost golden sands or nothin, considering they said “equal content for both sides” and nothing happened when golden sands won, best case scenario it would have just become reapers hideout 2.0
It takes them time to role out the results. New Golden Sands is now being built up with stone and mortar. It won't be a mere outpost, soon it will be a bona fide pirate town.
This is the first time in my life I’m actually scared, just really, scared of a villain from a video game.

I don't think there will be anything like Lost Sands. Lost sands pretty much split the player base in HALF. But this one? Eh... I'd say it is 95% - 5%.
Literally every single pirate and their mother want Flameheart back. I don't think Athena people will even try after seeing people from their side resurrecting him.

As much as I love Pendragon and hate the Reaper faction, Flameheart must be resurrected so we can absolutely destroy him again and again not just for the loot. Losing Pendragon is a good emotional drive to beat Flameheart’s ass and we all know he’s gonna win. I haven’t been playing long but those who have been playing for years are waiting for this moment, scratching and clawing at the opportunity like sirens to sailing ships desperate for his return.
Plus a big excitement needs to get back to the Sea of Thieves it’s been so long.
We are pirates after all, we crave gold and glory through dangerous adventure and thrill.
As the goddess Calypso would say, “it is in our nature”😈
people bashing pendragon for releasing flameheart, but here he is, stepping up to undo what was done. i do think flameheart coming back is exactly what the sea needs (for the story, i don't think he is good for piracy) but man losing one of the best? much tougher choice then saving golden sand

If the last event is anything to go by, there are some who want to roleplay heroes vs villains. Then there are some who are interested in the story. The better story in my opinion is if Flameheart returns because he is the big bad of SoT. As such, he needs to be a threat. Problem is with the victory of the heroes in the last event, he's basically been reduced to a Saturday morning cartoon villain. Twirl the mustache, reveal you plan, the hero comes in and saves the day. See you next week, kids!
Flameheart needs a win to stay relevant. Otherwise, we need a new big bad who will get wins. Maybe not every time, but some. Flameheart's story is that of a dark lord. He has a cult and everything. Imagine if Sauron never won a single victory, or Voldemort, or Darth Vader. The stories would not be the epic tales they are today. I want that for SoT. I want it to be a great story. But a great story needs a great villain. And until we get one, I'll be throwing my lot in with Flameheart in hopes he becomes the threat the characters treat him as.
problem is the villain was mostly gone before the story we kick off from started, only real villain we have properly faced is the ones from the pirates life tall tales.
