  • In this tutorial, Jan shows you how you can connect any Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to JackTrip.
If you'd like to record from your DAW to JackTrip OR from JackTrip to your DAW, we recommend either:
    - "BlackHole" (continued support and development)
    existential.audio/blackhole/
    - "SoundFlower" (discontinued support and development)
    github.com/mattingalls/Soundf...
If you're willing to pay for advanced audio routing software and route multiple audio sources between each other, we recommend "Loopback" by Roughe Amoeba:
    rogueamoeba.com/loopback/
Please note that we don't have any affiliation with any of the above-mentioned third-party software companies. This is just what has worked for us and others in the past, so we thought we'd share this with you.
    Any feedback/comments are much appreciated.
    Happy JackTripping!

I asked this question on your Facebook page a few months ago, and you answered exactly like in this video, but I hadn't understood the routing process, now it's clearer. 👏

This crazy I’m getting new ideas on how to record musicians remotely via internet. I’ve been using listento plugin but I think this is a better option! Can’t wait to experiment with this😈🔥

Loopback is great! Takes a moment to get familiar with, but definitely does the job😎.

Totally agreed, loopback is generally a great program to have if you're using audio a lot on your computer. Ad really handy for more complex JackTrip routing.

I don’t have a Mac so what do I use software wise?

Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I'm not a Windows expert. Existential Audio says that BlackHole is not ready for Windows yet, but you can sign up here to get notified once the Windows version is out: existential.audio/blackhole/windows/
Maybe you can indeed get it to work with JACK and its qjackctl routing interface? I also came across VB-Audio VoiceMeeter during a brief search for alternative softwares, but I remember having used it back in my Windows days and didn't love it..

hey can i send multiple outputs to another location with jacktrip? (12 channels)
    my plan ist:

Hey @beatcoinsmadeit7456, you currently can not send 12 channel outputs to another location with JackTrip Virtual Studio, since we currently only support stereo (= 2 channels) input and output. Sorry!

There is obviously also JACK, free open source software that works the same way Loopback does. Isn't JackTrip somehow related to Jack?

Hey there, great question! Yes, the name JackTrip is based on JACK. Please note that the "Classic Mode" of JackTrip (the original open-source version) can still be used with JACK to route your audio (e.g. using the qjackctl GUI). You're right, qjackctl is very similar to LoopBack. Afaik, JackTrip Labs' Virtual Studios, however, do not support JACK routing the same way, since it uses edge computing to create its own internal routing (the idea is to make the user interface and server creation more consumer-friendly). I personally haven't gotten JACK to run with a Virtual Studio, but please let us know if you manage to!
