The great? More like the great doper. Lemond was riding and climbing the EXACT same speed he did in 84,85,86,89,90....and now he was getting dropped. Do the math. Did EVERYONE suddenly learn how to train between 1990 and 1991?
Wrong. Greg has said numerous times he was as good in 91 as ever. He was climbing the same speed....putting out the same power. And getting dropped. What could that mean?
@@hungryhandz1067 not age, but combination of lead, spent too much energy in 1st week, and of course EPO (tbf, this period were only a few selected riders/ teams use it).
The beginning of the Golden EPO era! It was the end of the LeMond era, and unfortunately the beginning of the Miguel Induran (Boringran) era. Watching him ride is like watching grass grow, most boring cyclist (for me) to watch.
I agree, I actually stopped watching, so boring, not worth the money I'd have to spend to watch it. It's better to buy these DVDs of the golden years and watch these races.
let me tell ya guys. a peloton goes very fast when you are on the road side. but smoking a 50kmh peloton with an horse is even more orgasmic. i did it once with a competition horse a bit crazy. i went on the secondary road to follow the peloton and the horse suddenly went furious and unleashed the horsepower. my arms and neck still remember that shit. i overtook the peloton and that crazy horse farted 2 times and went even faster like "hey catch me if you can motherfuckers!!" and boom! rocketship! it was furiously hilarious but at that time i was trying to contain it but didn't give 2 fucks about me XD. believe me hitting 60kmh+ on a horse is something. the guys in the peloton were amazed at how fast the horse accelerated. i smoked them like nothing.
It's a terrible situation to watch riders like Greg lemond and Figon take a backseat to drugheads like Miguel indurian who won every tour de France juiced up on E. P. O. !
No-one believes Lemond was clean! USA dopers like John McEnroe(horsehormone!) Barry Bonds Jose Canseco Mark McGwire Marion Jones Justin Gatlin Randy Barnes Tyler Hamilton Lance Armstrong Floyd Landis and so on! Indurain was 186cm tall and more talented than doper Greg Lemond!!
OK, well ABC had some real morons covering the Tour like Sam Posey and Al Trautwig and someone else named Pierre Salinger, and hardly gave Phil Liggett any talk time. And their music for the Tour was just terrible. So hearing Phil Liggett on this video is nice, but the music is so atrocious, it's comparable to ABC's and that's hard to forgive.
The CBS music score was award winning for a reason. Go listen to the first three and a half minutes of this:th-cam.com/video/TpJ5xgCbgwA/w-d-xo.html ... nightowl8936 I'm 100% sure that music and video here are almost identical to those in the France Televisions (i.e. French public broadcasting) VHS of Tour de France 1991. During the sprint won by Ribeiro in this video, you can hear the voice of Patrick Chêne (the equivalent of Phil Liggett in french tv in that era)
Great Soundtrack ...!
thanks so much for all the tdf videos
THE FIRST MIGUEL TOUR, THANK YOUFOR THE UPLOAD
Enfin Miguel a sa place.le plus belle athlète qu au connu le tour
The theme song of the 1991 TdF was "I want a new drug" By Huey Lewis and the News. Welcome to the EPO era...
Lmao how apropos
The Great Miguel Induran's First win!!!...👊🏾

@@shooter7a, exactly. Banesto worked with Francesco Conconi, a well-known doping doctor. Coincidence? I think not.
The first Tour when EPO had become mainstream.
Why have sections of commentary been muted? Legal reasons?
Really felt for Greg at this tour, he would have won but was denied by EPO driven cheats.
PDM intravenous liquid food, more like the first EPO
Hows Phil Liggetts reporting of the official explanation !?! - Omerta Much?
54:33 there it is the 21 hairpin corners that is....
31:02 TDF stage winner does post race... for dummies
At this point Lemond knew he couldnt compete with the EPO fueled horses
Age caught up with him as well...Like LeMond I believe his Shooting Accident...the Shot Pellets stil In his Body Played a part in his Decline...👊🏾
He just turned 31. Still peak years for a racing cyclist.

Someone knows the song (guitar tunes) around the 51:00 minute mark?
Schnidler sounds like Dire Straits
Mark knofler style of playing with vingers
But i dont know this specific song
I'm gonna look it up
@@mgtow941 i love MK/Dire Straits, thats why i was so curious, because it does not resemble any of their songs i know of
looked way cooler without helmets
Looks very shitty having a crushed skull and brain trauma. Friend of mine lost his 56-year old dad because of brain trauma
Out of interest, how many cassette sprockets and chainings were those riders using back then for their setups?

epo allows linebackers to climb mountains like they were free safetys.
Good times
I think PDM were blood doping because storage of the blood is crucial to prevent poisoning.
Tour de Dope.
The sound?
Mattias Ahlgren some songs probably would copyright strike this video so the uploaded probably had to mute some sections
53:56 There's seve
And what about cappuccino !
Great editing Steven, but please, more appropriate music!!! ;((((
1991 Tour D'epo
When the tour was exciting and interesting to watch, bring back the drugs, today’s tour is almost unwatchable

Does anyone know who provided the music for Channel 4's coverage of the '92 tour? (Television, Sport and Leisure was the production company).
Great video. Horrible soundtrack. :)
I literally stopped watching this video because of the music. Where is John Tesh when you need him?
