Emotional Intelligence: Building Skills to Strengthen Relationships

Residential Life Training is a series developed for residential school staff to foster safe, supportive, nurturing, and inclusive student environments. This series covers a wide range of topics to recognize, address, and promote positive behavior, and emotional well-being among students. Through this training, staff will learn real-life strategies to create a culture of empathy, understanding, and compassion. This training emphasizes self-care and stress management techniques recognizing that staff wellbeing is linked to their ability to provide the best support to students.

• Learn the four core skills of emotional intelligence
• Identify and practice strategies to strengthen emotional intelligence
• Discuss the use of emotional intelligence with students through modeling and instruction
