    I have a 2020 Ford Fusion 1.5L. I had the same issue with the tappet being worn and broken. I replaced it and it's still making a clicking noise. I disconnected the power to the high pressure fuel pump and the noise went away, connected the power back and the noise came back. Thoughts?

    Thank you for this info, have you or anyone in the comments drop double mileage for instance after driving 1 mile you drop 2 miles instead, the kicker I’m having is that most of the time it stops after I’m driving for about 5 miles and it goes back to normal, but it happens again after I turn on the car after I put gas at the gas station (most of the time it won’t matter where I turn on the car)?

    I just bought a wrecked 16 Ford fusion with the 1.5 L EcoBoost engine. Should I remove the high pressure fuel pump to see if it was properly maintained before getting too far into it? And if everything checks out, as in good shape, can I reuse that pump or should I just replace it?

    Question. If the fuel tappet is actually the issue causing the fuel pressure to be off wouldn’t just replacing the tappet itself correct the issue instead of the entire high pressure fuel pump? Just curious.

  • @FordBossMe
    @FordBossMe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    I rebuild these motors constantly, I am one of the most knowledgeable people on the internet on these engines
    Lack of maintenance is typically what causes this, out of all the engines I have ever done I have only ever seen 2 engines with that tappet worn like that and both sludgy lack of maintenance engines
    once that cam tappet is worn through that metal is now in the engine and even though you changed the fuel pump tappet that metal is now in the engine oil and circulating through your engine
    your on borrowed time now I promise you, the metal will get in other areas and plug up oil galleys and get in valve train area
    those do not ware out because of oil on start up issues, its not being maintenance enough typically or its been maintenanced poorly before you and now you are dealing with someone else's problem
    One direct reason how I know that it's not been maintenanced enough is that brown darkish ring that's inside that old bucket.....that does not come from a well maintenanced engine, that comes from an engine that's been hot with old oil in it for a long time and it's starting a coke carbon up and stain

      reply of the year awarded to you
      Very correct statement, however you must agree these cars are built to fail and cheap so they can get you back and sell you another after the old one breaks. funny older cars are still on the road with no problems like that , but these new cars are designed to be thrown away when they quickly break from some small minor slow death process.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@crazysexycool180 I do agree they know what they're doing
      see my old Panther platform 2006 Lincoln Town Car has 229000 miles on it and still runs like it's brand new from the factory and the reason they quit making those cars is because they can't make money on them they just keep running and running and running because they were very reliable engines that never really had problems and when they did they were super cheap to fix
      Engines today may make more power and maybe more fuel efficient but they are total trash

      @@crazysexycool180 I completely disagree with you it's more than sufficient
      you just can't wait five to six thousand miles to do oil changes, I do this every day as I said and you can look at my Channel with probably several thousand videos between the two channels I have I do this everyday I'm not just some run-of-the-mill mechanic I profess in this that's what I do I'm currently pulling apart another one right now
      I know these things inside and out and your opinion or mine on whether or not something is thin or too thick is irrelevant because it comes down to rod and Main clearances so what either one of us think doesn't matter it's what's designed to be in that motor
      You take Rod Journal bore X .001
      or main bearing bore X .001
      Then you figure out exactly what range that vehicle needs to run at operating temperature
      You'll find most of these engines are at a 5w 20 or less with these tight tolerances you go to a thicker oil and you won't be able to remove heat as fast as you will with a thinner oil, but what I can tell you is he's Motors today are trash it's not oil if the manufacturer of the motor

    Hi, I have a 2016 Ford Fusion 1.5 L EcoBoost-
    Where can I locate the Schrader valve to check the fuel pressure?
    *At times the car will make a loud humming noise coming from the fuel tank in the rear of the car.
    *Every single time I get gas, no matter how much gas is in my gas tank, it fails to start for about 10-15 minutes unless I completely Mat the pedal to the floor and keep the RPM's above 1000 steadily for about a minute, then it will stay in idle without stalling, once I remove my foot from the gas pedal. Although, it does start every time after that point until I refill the tank again.

    But the reason for that light metal that is worn out. Because the most common problem is people run there engine low on oil. That is most likely that damage is caused from. Low on oil and lack of oil changes. The reason the light is a buffer. Better to wear out light metal cause Driveabilty problem before more damage to the cam lobe. That metal gets wipe out before the cam and cause fuel delivery problem. Good engineer. Professional Retired Professional
