I know this video is 2yrs old now, but i cannot express enough to use a Brass punch or Brass chisel to remove that steel ring around the Fuel pump. Brass will not make any sparks. You Don't want sparks at all. Great video, just some additional information.
God Bless you brother
This was a very well made homemafe vid, plan to do with nephew on his fusion. You men keep up the good works, this world needs more vids like this.
Sir, I want to say a big THANK YOU for this video! I am a nurse (not a mechanic) and I was able to change my daughters fuel pump all thanks to you!! I didn’t have time to wait on the Amazon order so I got mine at Autozone but was able to avoid th labor charge. God bless you!!
Very happy the video helped you fix the and saved some money. God bless you also. Thank You
I want to buy this man a beer
Sounds good buddy
I respect that you was teaching your son at the same time👍.Great video I am ordering my pump for my 2011 Ford Fusion today...
I try to tech him how to fix cars and things around the house. It's nice that he likes to help out. Thank you. Have a great week
You are correct, very little info out there on how to replace the fuel pump on this vehicle. I am ordering the pump today now that I see how easy it is. Was dreading having to pay $500+ to have a shop do it. Thanks for the great video.
Glad this video will help . This is easy to do and the plus you save a lot of cash . Let us know how it works out for you.. Thanks
I just had a mechanic tell me it would cost me $1600 to have him replace it. So I had the car towed out of his garage to my house, and I just ordered this pump! I have a 2012 fusion.
Dang $1600 to change this fuel pump even if you got the better pump that over $200 the job should only be around $300 to $400 . When you change the pump let me know it how it went ..
i’m grateful i found this video. you’re a hero
Glad this video help you. Thanks
Nice I ordered mine yesterday expecting it tomorrow and can’t wait to put in my 2012
Hope the install went well. Thanks
That's a blessing to have that fuel pump access under the seat. 🤣 i wish my truck had that because that was a task dropping the tank.
It's not fun dropping the tank . I was so happy the pump was under the seat .
Exactly how you explained. Thank you.!
You are welcome...
Great job, clear to the point! Plz make more videos! Helped me with daughters car, was dreading dropping tank of course she just filled up!
I sold the Fusion to get a truck. I still go to some junk yards and make some videos on the Fusion this that we fixed etc. Glad this video help you out made this to help people out. Thanks Mike
wow was really surprised the pump was under the seat...seeing the fuel like that makes me not ever want to sit in the back of a truck now lol...nice you got it for a great price as well, great repair job...very cool video...
I was happy we didn't have to drop the tank with the pump being under the seat saved a lot of time. Thanks Dennis .
Awesome how to video!! It is nice to have the easy access. Some are not so nice !! Keep up the great work!!
Coming from you that means a lot bro ..
Great video! Way to get it done! Awesome how to. Thanks for sharing buddy!

Good video!!! I am needing a fuel pump for my 2012 fusion. Prices were around $240 at autozone. Thanks for the Amazon link.
Hopefully I have the same access under my back seat. That would save a bunch of money.
Thanks
Glad this video may help you out with getting the fuel pump done. It would save some cash
Thank You
Thank you for this video. Mine is in the same place. My car finally broke down, so be I’ll be changing it in the morning.
I'm glad this video will help you. Thanks
@@OuzoLouGarage It helped, but guess whatI did by mistake? Smh The fuel line connector was giving me issue going back around the neck on the stem. So, when I reached back down to try for the umteenth time, my thumb hit “the fragile clamp” and it broke right off! Oy Vey! Now, I’m waiting for the part to replace that. Just when I was in the home run. I kept hearing your voice.. “Take your time… it’s fragile!” Lol
Good video . This will be very helpful to folks. My Mustang fuel pump is very similar under the back seat like that . This vid will do well for many years .
I hope this video helps people out to save time and cash . Thanks Philip

The Duke says, did mine today. Was easy peasy. Thank you for sharing the video it helped me a lot. What did I teach you?
It was easy..
Amazing Vid; thank you for the walkthrough. Have you had issues with the fuel pump inertia switch before?
Thanks for liking the video . I never had a problem with the inertia switch. My problem was the car would stop running while driving and was not getting any codes. Was thinking if a fuel goes bad it wouldn't bring up a code.
The trouble I am having is the car will not start back up after it cuts off. I have to wait like 15 minutes before it crank up. It was doing this before the fuel pump was change and still after it was changed. I also got new spark plugs put in and a starter.
Thanks for the info, mine is working fine but I wonder if I should worry about the fuel filter that's integrated in this pump? Does it her clogged?
Don't think you need to worry about the filter. Mine was still clean
my fusion i have to do this this weekend luck for me im a tech of 26 years so i should be all right ty
You know more than us. Thank you
@@OuzoLouGarage hey its all good mine is the fuel pump and this did help me im a honda tech but i love my fords
@@stevenjones2371 Happy the video helped. Nice to get a comment from a tech. Thanks buddy
@@OuzoLouGarage no problem dont thank me its more thank you
Try changing the fuel pump on 1982 to 2002 gm fbody by dropping the tank. Im going to regret that day. Nice job sir.
I did one on a 87 Mustang it's not fun dropping the tank with just jack stands . . You are right it's now fun . Thanks
Id rather change it on a car than a truck with a full tank lol
@@NooWayyMann69 A truck wouldn't be fun lol
@@OuzoLouGarage I did one on a dodge Dakota with a completely full tank. It sucked dropping 26 gallons lol
@@NooWayyMann69 That had some weight for sure. I was happy this one was under the back seat.
For your next video you can detail the engine :-)
Deal may take couple weeks for video to come out.
On my fusion turn on but for few minutes and them cut off but if I keep the rpm keeps on is maybe my pump
That may not be the fuel pump. Could be fuel injection
How many miles was on this Fusion? I have a 2009 Fusion SE with only 96,000 miles on it , just about ready to sell it and it started having cranking issues. I changed the old battery out, check fuses, switched relays, ground and it started. The very next day, same issues again! Prior to turning key to start, I do not hear the fuel pump kick on to prime. When I finally do hear the fuel pump kick on and prime the system, it will start. . It only has cranking issues when its over 80F outside or engine is warmed up. Not sure if its a bad connection somewhere or bad fuel pump. Great Video though! I'm relieved that its easy to get to under the seat.
I think the Fusion was over 150.00 miles
Quick question , so I filled my tank up completely but my miles to E is skipping by 2’s and 5’s , you know what the cause of that may be ? I have a 2010 ford fusion SE 2.5
Cont be the foat in the gas tank
How u open the back
I have a 2012 I need to replace fuel pump; is my access hole in the same place?
It should be
I am fixing too change my fuel pump on my 06 Lincoln zephyr it is under the seat too but I just bought the pump not the whole thing I bought a High Performance Fuel pump off of eBay for only $18.00 with shipping it is a fuel pump kit has a shit ton of fuel socks in the kit
I have to look that up on eBay And let us know how it goes replacing the pump
@@OuzoLouGarage So far so good both my eBay Fuel Pump and Fuel Injectors are working fine I seam too gain more horse power out of my 3.0L V6
I can change the filter fuel separately, or it one piece with pump fuel
Looks like its one piece
Hey man great video..question though I have same car just a 2012...I'm tryin to trouble shoot the issue I'm between fuel pump and the starter...issue I'm having is sometimes the car will start other times it won't.. it makes no clicking noise it's not the battery or alternator...what do you think...like I say I turn the key and nothing happens...I drove the car home ran in the house to grab something came back out and nothing. .happened like 3 times now any ideas?
Also I'd like to ad I've noticed that after getting a full tank of gas at the pump everytime...super hard to get the car to start always end up having to pump the gas
Could be fuel injector
Quick question. What would you have to do if you damage the red clip on the fuel line that connects to the fuel pump?
I've done that a year ago and broke the red tabs on the fuel line. I improvised and glued it together with loctite glue it's been like new ever since.
Thanks
Did on a 2012 fusion.Was told pump is gone.However it still won't start.Any suggestions?
Check ground ,battery ,starter
Thanks for posting ! I have the same vehicle but mine is a 2010 fusion hybrid ..my car has been shutting off out of no where while driving and on the screen telling me to pull over safely ..was thinking it was the fuel pump ..do u kbow if its located under the seat and same pump?
Most likely your pump is under the seat. Thanks
@@OuzoLouGarage Hey so i finally got around to changing it out ..everything went smooth ..but was driving very next day and car did the same thing out of no where and told me to safely pull over and had to shut it off and do that whole thing again ...any suggestions?
@@coreyhewitt9447 Maybe disconnected the battery for a few minutes and if if that reset it. @PapaSmurf918 and go to PapaSmurf918 channel and comment this on his newer video he's a mechanic
@@OuzoLouGarage ok i will try that put..thanks appreciate it !
@@coreyhewitt9447 did you ever get your issue figured out? I’m having literally the exact same problem you described.
Will it work on the hybrid model as well ?
The fuel pump should be in the same location. Not sure if the pump is the same
My car has a buzzing noise but its loud coming from underneath the car from whete the fuel pump is located could that be a failing pump
Could be the pump. Mine pump was making a noise underneath also
I have a 2011 2.5 SE, I was in rear ending and my grill etc. was damaged. The car turnover and was drivable after true accident. Then say for a month while insurance did there thing. I went to restart it and click click click. Went through the list, battery, new Spark ⚡️ plugs, valve gasket replacement and new starter. Apparently it could be the fuel pump inertia switch.
Before changing your pump did you check that switch?
I did check the switch and I think the switch is by one of the back doors.
The manual says it’s under the passenger side glove box dash area. I can’t find it for the life of me. The local Ford dealership says that model doesn’t have a switch and it could be the relay. Or the pump.
Hey, i have 2010 ford fusion and it jerks at low rpms like when I accelerate and I’m not really sure what’s the problem on it, I’ve read a few forums they say it’s the fuel filter but I’ve been searching about the fuel filter but couldn’t find anything? Some say it’s in the fuel pump? Can you help me with it?
It could be the fuel pump
Great video, a lot of good information.
I’m just wondering if the pump from amazon it’s a good quality. Thank you for sharing.
The pump from Amazon did seem to be of good quality , I can't stay how long it will last . I have 170 thousand mile on the Fusion and didn't want to spend the over $200 for something like the original one. But as long as i own this car will update if this pump fails. Plus a buddy of my that a mechanic said this pump should last a while . Thanks
I got a 2012 SE,only complain is how the rear shocks were design!! And the struts
The older Fusion are great cars. How many miles on your SE?
👍✌️
Thanks
Trying to find link to purchase part off Amazon
Its in the Description
Quick question. So the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump??
Yes the filter is inside the pump
I’m getting a P1450 code. Could this be the issue?
The problem I was having was the car would shut off once in a while . I never got a code.
Ouzo lou garage was your car taking longer to start?
What my was doing at a stop light the rpm would drop
I have the sport edition fusion and I’m trying to find my fuel shut off button and I cannot find it.
I think it's behind the glove box
Michael hadley they didn’t put an inertia fuel shut off (IFS) on the 2.5 . The fuel pump module is turned off via a message sent by the restraint control module (RCM) ALL DATA says to unplug the fuel pump module which is located in the trunk compartment left side behind the side carpeting. Probably won’t help you this late, but maybe someone in the future. Good luck
Is this the low pressure or high volume pump??
www.amazon.com/dp/B07GZKKGS1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_05J1EBR7VG6ND9Q2C0BZ
It's was this pump
I have a 2011 that cranks a little longer than usual. You think it's a fuel pump problem....It has new plugs and all...Not a bad investment...
I don't know if that would be a fuel pump problem. Could be starter, or dirty grounds
Where did you purchase your pump?
Amazon
My pump won't depress enough for me to get the ring back on top of it, help
Do you have a lot of fuel in tank? Plus I had to push down pretty good to get the ring on
Yeah it's a nice amount in it , I can get it in and down enough for the ring to go on but not evenly
Did it fix your issue with car
Yes it was the fuel pump. Been running good ever since. Sold to a friend and his sin still drives it.
How u know u needed a pump
Car was stalling and I was hearing a noise from underneath the car. Plus I wasn't getting any codes
Rock auto has them for $88
Thanks
Thank you for the video, however, there’s no need of two people to do that.
I was teaching my son how to change the pump
I love that sir.
The mechanic quoted me $1400 to do this, what a crock of shit
Crazy how much they want.
Why skip the details (connector removal, ring removal, etc)? The devil is always in the details.
Next time you make the video. We used a small sledgehammer and a chisel to get the ring off which made a lot of noise. On the connectors I have tips on how to remove
How did the fuel pump hold up in the end?
The fuel pump is still going. A friend of mine, son, owns the car now .
