I have been following some channels predictions for the Golden Globe’s. And you guys were one of a few who predicted Torres for the win (and that makes you my favorite) Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼
I love Antonis takes, he takes so many things into consideration and doesn't let regency bias and hype sway his opinions, at least this season of so much unpredictability, and he's been spot on so far.
Great vid guys; pacing and narration: well done .. . . 54:00 people are saying the awards voters will be giving Moore a "lifetime of special movies" award this year (happened many times at Oscars also) as she was amazing in Ghost, played the first female Navy Seal and also an attorney who helped two soldiers . . .) . . .
I've been predicting "Emilia Pérez" for the win since the AACTA nominations were announced weeks ago. The industry support (EFA, BAFTA and AACTA) is there, and I expect SAG to follow suit with their support. EP is winning, and I'm happy that it's going to happen!
Emilia Perez is trash!!! As a gay latino person, this movie was awful representation of what a trans woman, a Latino woman, and Mexican people in general are. You have to understand people aren't hating the movie just because they dislike it but the movie is disrespectful to the people they are trying to represent. If you want a better movie with trans representation, theres Tangerine directed by Sean Baker. Like watch that and then tell me EP is good. smh
Herd mentality on full display. You're just another copy-paste victim of Film Twitter groupthink, parroting the same hollow, virtue-signaling nonsense as if it’s an original thought. It’s painfully obvious most of you haven’t even seen the film-or if you have, you approached it with the bad faith bias spoon-fed by hateful online discourse. All for what? To join the dogpiling mob and bask in the fleeting validation of a thumbs up? It’s pathetic, honestly. The lack of genuine, independent critical thought is staggering. There’s no personal discernment, no fine-tuned analysis-just predictable, surface-level mimicry designed to fit in. If that hollow thumbs-up of approval from strangers online gives you some sense of purpose, go ahead, savor it. But don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s something to be proud of. It’s not insight; it’s desperation dressed up as critique.
I’m sorry but I cannot get behind Emilia Perez outside of the Globes. It’s a weak movie that’s incredibly divisive and a lot of people find insulting. If Emilia Perez continues to win awards it won’t be due to it being a “good film” but because Netflix is carrying a lot of sway. The work should speak for itself and right now it has nothing good to say.
Saying The Brutalist asked more of its lead actor than A Complete Unknown is an interesting conversation given Timmy took five years to prepare to play Bob Dylan.
I understand your argument about the trans representation in Emilia Pérez. However, what about the racial/ethnic arguments against it? I've been seen a lot of complaints from Latin Americans, specially Mexicans. Seens to me the kind of outdated way of telling stories about a culture and place without actual local representation in the actors and the behind the scenes people. This to me sounds like a stepback just like greenbook. We should be better than this now, shouldn't we?
A fair point. Though I still wouldn’t compare to Green Book - Emilia Pérez is an independent film seeking to do something new and has fallen short with some audiences, while Green Book was a safe studio picture. Pérez wants to be conflicting and controversial while Green Book wanted to ignore the conversation it was having. My objection isn’t that Pérez doesn’t have flaws (it certainly does), but we don’t need to put every movie on the Crash/Green Book scale
@@antony_post Emilia Perez gets compared to Green Book because they're both regressive. Audiard knows nothing about the subject matter so he ends up accidentally ignoring the conversation its having. Both simplify complex issues and perpetuate harmful stereotypes. That's regressive. They're two sides of the same regressive coin.
@@LuisG633EP is not regressive. This biased and misguided goupthink dogpiling regurgitated from film twitter is. Say something you have actually thought with your own brain for once
No, the film feels like it doesn’t know how it wants to portray itself. The plot is messy and over the film is divisive not for being edgy or cool but for being stereotypical and offensive. This film is tone deaf and time will not look favourably on this film. it’s giving Crash vibes
@@OhHeyThatsArcher the crash comparison is silly. You all need to watch more French movies if you think it's tonally all over the place lol This is what I mean by performative, you can dislike the film without repeating online talking points that sound ridiculous.
Makes sense Emilia Perez win best international picture at the Oscars, cause it’s very international: made by France, happens in Mexico with an American cast.
Fernanda Torres for the win!!! Emilia per3z ... So much wong with this thing. Mexico without Mexicans? Without having studied or been to the country? The representative of Latin America is "im still here". Just look at which film Latin directors are supporting the campaign. WATCH "I'M STILL HERE".
Gen Z's thinking Kate Winslet won't win her 6th Bafta - when she produced , starred and funded a WW2 Biopic is Hilarious. Gen z cannot at all seperate popular from good - just because Wicked generated $600m doesn't really matter - many best pics have earned far less and on that note Margot would've won for Barbie with more than double Wicked's Gross!
The acting winners are locked(Brody,Moore and Saldaña will probably sweep)outside of maybe Kieran Culkin Director is locked Anora is done Wicked is nada Brutalist is the frontrunner And Emilia Perez is crazy strong if guilds go for that then it can win or somehow Sing Sing returns and that gets guild love
Wicked is not out yet, it's still got CCA'S and BAFTAS as well as SAG Awards where it's the favorite to win ensemble. All it needs is an ensemble to win, it's similar to many Best Picture hopefuls and could rival Chicago in ways people don't expect.
@AntsTheaterCorner2698 Critics and Bafta are going to go with Brutalist, wicked is just another blockbuster that has no winning path like Top Gun like Barbie or Black panther
I found EP just painful to watch. It felt anti-trans. It was so, so boring. I skipped half of it. I really hope it doesn't win anything major. It's just not a good movie. It's all over the place. A mess.
I love their drinking their tears so much! It's a fantastic film, and I always dismiss the critics because I can't take those same people who are championing "The Substance," a truly awful film, seriously.

I'm hopedicting Demi, Mikey, Karla, Marianne, and Fernanda in Actress. I agree it sounds too good to be true, but I NEED to manifest it.
Best lineup.

Nothing would make me happier than Flow winning the Oscar
That's me !!! I have been commentating on 50 YT sites that Robot is fine but a remake of Wall-E and FLOW should win !!!!!
Fernanda Torres!!!
I miss watching the clips of the performances
I feel like A Lot of the awards shows STOPPED doing that and that's always been my favorite spot
