      I have a 300 win mag.
      From what I see in a reloading manual, comparing 150 grain bullets the 300 should be around 300 fps faster... So I would expect it would have more power. Wonder if the shape of the bullet, sectional density or something else is at okay.

  • @nmelkhunter1

    So, here’s what we learned. Each of these cartridges can annihilate a clay block at 7 yards. The question is, what happens to the clay at 300 yards when shot from each cartridge?

      @David Watson I know what will happen. It will create work and maybe even a rodeo or two. What? You see when you shoot a bull elk with a 300 Win Mag and 180 Partitions or Accubonds it’s dies and preferably you have horses and mules to pack it out. But sometimes those critters like to buck like rodeo stock. But I still do it every year. Dummy me.

      After a very slow day of deer hunting with his 300 WinMag, my dad shot a porcupine in a tree about 40 feet up.. After he shot it, It had disappeared.. After about 20 seconds, a fine mist of blood rained down. Since it was around sunset, he saw a 100 ft red halo of, blood in the air.

      Yeah, you should be shooting from at least 100 yards off a bench...so you can hit the target from that distance, especially with the 30.06, 7 mm, and .300. I wouldn't want you to end up on one of the Darwin Award videos.

      Is the 7 mm Remington Magnum also the 7 mm Remington ultra magnum or are those two different cartridges? I’m really interested in 270 and 280 right now but the distance is I shoot I think I 25 -06 would be perfect. I rarely get the chance to break 600 m. I’m really starting to develop an affinity for older more secure cartridges. Finding rifles in my price range is always a challenge. I try to never shop for a gun that’s more than the $500 -$600. I am window shopping right now for a savage access in a magnum caliber. If I could get a used Remington 700 in a long action of any kind on a layaway somewhere that would be ideal. Both of those rifles I imagine I can use and build off that action after all it’s the barrel that makes the accuracy from not mistaken and the shooter

    Absolutely true story. Years ago I was at a friend's ranch in Colorado and were were watching a movie where the good guys were hiding behind a car and the car was being shot by the bad guys. We wanted to see what would happen. He had a 62-63 Chevy that was just sitting there. He had used it for part and the age of the car is important because it is thicker steel than modern cars. . He took his Marlin Lever Action 30-30 deer rifle and he shot the door. It was a soft tip hunting round. The round went through one door, through the backs of both front seats and then out through the other door. The bullet then went through both walls of his shed before falling to the ground somewhere. 2 steel doors 2 seats and 2 wood shed walls. FYI I'm a certified Smallbore and pistol coach and I've been teaching firearm safety to juniors at our gun club for the last 10 years and I tell this when it comes to the part about knowing what's beyond your target.

    Great video as always. Out of the two Belted Magnums I like the .300 because I love 7.62. and I like the heavier grain bullets that go along with it even though they aren't as ballistic coefficient as the 7mm. The 6.5 is probably the most ballistic coefficient, yet it's a much smaller hole than big bore rifles, which big bore to me starts at 7.62. My absolute favorite all time is the 7.62x63, or as most people know it as the .30-06.

    • @Steve-yr5vi
      @Steve-yr5vi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Berger sells 195 gr bullets for the 7mm with a ballistic coefficient of .755 which exceeds the ballistic coefficient of their best 6.5 by .07, the bullet with the best bc is the .375 a 407 gr bullet wit a bc of 1.022! incidentally their .30's exceed the 7 and the .338 exceeds the .30

    That energy transfer is really impressive. The clay inside the cardboard just blew the box apart. And the .300 mag even turned a piece of clay into shrapnel with enough force to bruise you. That's a heck of alot of energy. Even from the 30-30. Very very cool. Good one WTW.

    Why are you shooting those blocks at that range with those rifles? That's pistol range, heck, it's practically stick it in his belly button and pull the trigger range. It looks like you had room to at least have doubled that range and they'd really still be too close.

    • @sirich7751
      @sirich7751 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The whole point of shooting clay blocks is to give a good visual of muzzle velocity damage. Also, you really want a dead center shot. can't really guarantee that at appropriate ranges for a rifle.

    For driven hunt I love my 300WM (Sauer 303, short barrel) on distances up to 200m, for longer distances I used to take my german magnum 8x68S (Mauser M03). Both calibers are highly precise on reloaded cartridges. For sports I take the .338LM (Savage 110FCP) also nice stuff even beyond 500m. Unfortunately less areas for longer distances here in this country. You guys can be lucky! I love your batshit crazy videos!!
