VTOL VR Player tries DCS for the First Time | DCS World A-10a

- Yo what's up. I tried out DCS for the first time a few weeks ago and it was a great time. It was a bit of a rough experience at first but we got through it and had a good time. Seriously though, this game needs a bit of QoL work done. DCS would probably be doing a lot better if it was more accessable, not in a knowledge sense, but in an ease of use sense. That being said I still had a great time and I've already returned for more DCS.
Thanks for watching and thank you @mrmidnight32 for making this video possible lol.

DCS is so real....
"Is your master caution yelling at you?"
"Yea, its going boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop" 😂😂😂
Have almost 2000 hours in DCS mostly in just dogfighting. This was a blast to watch brought back all the memories from 6-7 years ago when I first started playing
for myself spending the last 6 years playing only this game.. this brings back alot of nostalgia for when i first started playing , what a joy to watch 🤣
I started in the f16 just got hotas it was funny watched a Grim Reapers tutorial video and took off failed to do that for 25 more attempts
If you want to get the full DCS experience, you have to purchase an actual full fidelity aircraft.
Not just the 11 year old keybinded planes
I would love to, but I simply do not have the time, money, or willpower to learn a full fidelity aircraft. In the future perchance
I have the full DCS experience and I don’t want it lol
@@Adelic1Yeah it’s quite the investment, mentally and monetarily. My advice, don’t do it if you’re not gonna be serious about doing things with it like videos or consistent playing.
I recommend the AV-8B "Harrier" V/STOL plane to buy first.
It's what I did and look at me...
I still have no clue how to use the Gunpod and the integrated computer
But eh, at least plane go *V e r t i c a l*
This has been one of the best DCS videos I've watched 😂 I mostly fly choppers in DCS, but this looked like a ton of fun too!
which one do you fly? i fly the f16 but i have a couple hours flying the kamov 🤣
"So I threw away my VR headset"
Meanwhile, first thing I did when I got DCS was to GET a VR headset. :P
track ir is cheaper
@@yaboiCJGaming VR is more immersive. I can't imagine playing DCS on a flat screen.
@@PrimetimeCasual There are pros and cons to both.
VR is more immersive. Panel looks 155,000x better visually.
@@barneyfromblueshift Yeah. True. But my experience having tried both is that I wouldn't ever go back to a flat screen. ;)
@@PrimetimeCasual I'm with you. I'll take immersion over visual quality any day.
But but but DCS in VR is love!!
I love DCS in VR, my computer does not lol
Man I'm glad I stuck to this video long enough to see you guys get the "holy crap we're actually blowing stuff up" feeling. Great stuff!
NGL 280 knots a10 landing got me rolling xD I really enjoy that video, welcome to DCS buddy ;D
this was an insanely entertaining video im suprised its only at 800 views bro, keep up the insane content your really underated
You deserve so much more love bro, love your content, got my subscription
This video had me laughing like crazy amazing work man keep it up I know ur gonna be big!
Hey that’s me!
Glad to see you finally got to try DCS 👍
I watched the whole thing and loved it. Your earned a new subscriber
VTOL VR is for true gentlemen
This video is pure GOLD! I loved it, great editing as well. Subscribed! :D
Looking forward to seeing more dcs from ya.
Been playing DCS over a year now. F-18 and the A-10. Love the Huey. I use my Quest 3 and it is absolutely AMAZING. Totally worth a try in VR. It's a blast
Yeah I've messed around a bit in VR. Besides the low framerate it was pretty sick.
I hit enter and realized that the framerate is actually pretty sick. Sickening
While I was watching this I suspected it was made from a bigger youtuber, but god damn I was wrong. Very good video man, keep it up!
Okay, but A-10A is one of the little kid modules to put it into terms similar to the ones that made you try it in the first place. You need to experience something that's not from the flaming cliffs package like the A-10C if you want to get the full enjoyment of the warthog stick, but also the F-18, F-16, F-5 are other good options if you're planning to stick with jets with english cockpits that are easy to learn, as those are actually closer to VTOL VR with clickable cockpits, and you should try them in VR. Also, in reference to the "ease of use" issue you mention in the description, it's really a whole different story when you can operate the plane from inside the plane instead of having to use random keybinds for everything
They may be easier to learn but they're certainly not worse in terms of flight model realism, it's literally just a non interactable cockpit
@@meepcheep314 no I'm saying they're less intuitive and missing the fun of VR interaction, but yes they've updated the flight dynamics sure
Shut up. Flaming cliffs is love and he is a beginner anyway. Its the best stuff for beginners. If you ever had vr you would know that clicking switches with vr is terrible. And flaming cliffs has the best fps in vr too. Other modules sometimes dipping into unplayable figures with vr
Just recently got a Quest 3 and got into vtol vr. Just so happened to find your channel and my god youre so enterntaining!
This video made me subscribe hahaha.
Thanks! lmk if you want any help learning vtol.
@@Adelic1 Right now im trying to learn how to fly the AH-94 which im noticing is extremely difficult. So if you have any good advice then thatd be greatly appreciated!
@@toucan316 Sure. My discord username is adelic. Might be able to hop in game and help ya.
just subbed, got your barotauma video before this in my recommended. i would suggest adding either coloured subtitles or coloured name based on whos POV were seeing, other than that. love it
DCS is awesome! I'm an f18 guy myself. Flown for 3 years! Good luck!
a-10a is a lot to handle, u did well! Also there are profiles on the dcs forums for the t16000m so that you can bind all buttons to your hotas and not have to use the keyboard
try the su25a, it's a lot faster and easier to fly, although it doesn't have the screen like su-25t
The entire reason DCS exists is to be an accurate simulator. Ease of use isn't even a thought for them
The FC3 planes can be pretty fun, particularly with the 'DCS RedK0d Clickable' mod, which does a great job of adding clickables for FC3 plane controls. It helps them to feel a little bit more up-to-date.
go to the spawn slot menu, return to spectator, click on your old slot, now u wont explode and you dont have to eject.
Thanks, that was a pain in the ass lol
But was fun to watch.
this game has a free to play rental system if you use their launcher instead of steam, you can use that to get a 2 week trial of any aircraft. in addition by using their website you get 50% off your first plane. (this is unfortunately another reinstall, but if you plan on sticking around you can migrate your steam modules to the standalone)
also if you have a multithread capable cpu there is a multithreaded version available, which should get you just slightly more performance
also the a 10 is the most unnecessarily complex thing to learn, youd have an easier life in literally anything else, including the russian equivalent, the su-25t
Correct for everything except the last part. This is the non clickable a-10a which is simpler than even su-25t. It is undeniably easier to pilot and you can't accidentally fuck up your trim with autopilot (no un-trimming lol).
Su-25t has more cool toys though and is overall more capable
Subbing cause this was rlly funny
Right when you said you got to experience the clouds youtube couldn't load the video fast enough and I got a bunch of loading screens but I thought it was your game XD
Nice Video! It gives a little insight on how new players might experience the game. Also, if you're ever interested in DCS again, i would love to help you.
I just got Vtol/VR and all the DLC's and I can't wait to play it.
I highly recommend the f-14 tomcat. You and your buddy could fly in the same jet together
my "never been in an airplane" friend flew beter him first time when he tried dcs
this is not breaking news, i am dumb
damn thats just mean
@@lcdcstudios that wasnt what i was intending with that message, he just really bad
Omg that explosive spawn 😂
It's like real life i think 😅
FYI, if you click back to spectators, you won't blow up like that, you'll just have to click on the aircraft you want to spawn in.
The wild primate scream at 8:18 🤣🤣🤣
One of the hardest games I’ve ever played but definitely one of the best 😎👍
Funny video. Now try a full fidelity clickable plane... The A10Cv2 as you already flew the A10A
ur editing is so good man. crazy! this needs more views. keep it up!!!
glad ur stepping into the dcs ocean lol
have fun
bahahahaha at "i didnt even know how to arm the weapons" lolol
when you go to respawn, press back to spectators before selecting your role. is in the bottom left
One day the vtol cloud expansion pack will drop
Man if vtol vr is the kids version of dcs I must be an infant
you play war thunder or something? You need adult money to play war thunder.
Ace combat though, I can't defend you with that one lol
you can load into a multiplayer game when installed on a harddrive, it just takes around 40 minutes depending on settings, the mission and player count.
I'm talking out of experience

Quick question how may ovther Flight sims/games have you played before? Like DCS took me 2 hours to figure out after being a virtual pilot for 20 somthing years... Which Vtol VR I have not deared to try dogfighting in yet at 1 hgour 40 minutes played. As I can bearly start and fly the plane and there is no start in flight option most sims have and I have flown VR only in MSFS 2020 and DCS! Like something about having a fake controls is off for me... Though I have to admit Hand/finger tracked with quest 3 virtual desktop was alot of fun and may get me to fly VOTL VR more...
I have like 200 hours in VTOL and like to fly the jets/planes in Battlefield 4/1/5 but I guess those doesn't really count as a sim lol. MSFS looks cool but it doesn't simulate any air combat so I don't really care a whole lot and I haven't given into War Thunder yet.
Some VTOL missions will start you in the air, some wont. The startup and weapon systems for VTOL are pretty straightforward. Takes like 15 seconds once you understand. My discord is just "adelic" if you want any help. Feel free to add me.
LMAO Fun video! But on a serious note, I really wish people trying to get into DCS would learn etiquette first
I would love to see you trying to fly in formation and do even aerobatics ^^
so you would love to see me crash into the homies and even die?
This man laughing like Elmo has me rolling
you know, you're not the first person to say that.
damn that was funny xD
Ace combat 7 music hits hard
i just subbed
if it only took you two hours to take off im impressed
Putting a vtol vr player into dcs is one thing, putting them STRAIGHT into the a-10 is a whole different thing
😭
it's not the A-10C (the full fidelity one)
it's the A-10A :p
2:40 ermmm actually vtolvr has a overcloud version you can still play which looks droolingly good.
oh fr?
I’m jealous. I’ve never gotten it to work after carefully following the tutorials on 4 separate occasions
Imagine putting this much effort into DCS and getting Flaming Cliffs aircraft 💀
Aint nuthin wrong with Flaming Cliffs aircraft bro, you got a superiority complex or something
@@catfunt5583yes 😎
FC3 has more than enough capable aircraft.
Are you okay?
This is why Growling Sidewinder’s server is unplayable these days….
lol OK I had to come to the comments to point out that you wanted to experience the beauty of the clouds but chose the A-10A hahaha, you poor poor man
Edit: Had to come back in to say that this video does not disappoint...the cockpit simulator that is DCS is a wild and bumpy ride...and sometimes I love the simplicity of reaching out and touching the controls with my fake hands (although technically point ctrl exists in DCS and makes this almost the same which is pretty cool, but also expensive haha)
Lol yeah I had to hop into the F-15C for the cloud cinematic just to get good footage
@@Adelic1 Yea I love the A-10 (although I have FC3 I've never stepped into it because I can't stand FULL keybind fidelity)
But a cloud cruiser it is not....or it is...after like an hour of climbing.
Now do this but with the F-14 (with your friend being the Rio) and try to score your first air to air kill
VTOL VR has dynamic radar cross section calculations in real time for up to 16 real life players and bandits at once, DCS still uses a static radar cross section calculations for all aircraft at any angle. But....pretty clouds.
fr the clouds got me acting some type of way
I just realized 0:07 that picture was the school I used to go to
You can load with hdd it just takes a lot of time so ssd is prefered. on my computer hdd takes 3x more time to load than my ssd so basicaly I made my ssd into the windows and dcs only folder
4:05 change to another a 10 role because the positions are different
the a1o c 2 is more fun, but turn up the head phones when you fire the gun, trust me
I dont know if its just me but when i played dcs the graphics were garbage i have a great graphics on games like gta, ready or not, vtol vr, ect even when i boost the graphics up all the way the words on the tutorial (the words that tell you what the switches do) were completely blurry anyone know how to fix?
Surprised they did not get banned from the server for basically blowing up the spawns and taxiway
To get the full dcs experience you need to rip the cockpit out of an F-22 Raptor for the full experience
that's what I'm getting from this comment section lol
your old plane disappears if you just press select role
yeaaaaaahhh man, i dont think brakes will do anything when you land at 250 knots 💀
💀 I didn't even notice
Bro got a10 stick for f18
The a10a is probably the easiest plane as well 😂
just try the f16 in dcs its a friendly plane to start with..
Great video... But FC3 planes are not really the full painfull experience...
Great video! but by the way you cannot rearm and fl3 aircraft while the canopy is down you can however rearm and full fidelity modules while the canopy is down
Rookie mistake #22 that I made.
Incorrect. Either your canopy needs to be open or your radio needs to be on. Otherwise the ground crew won't be able to hear you.
Full fidelity aircraft can rearm/refuel while engine on thought while FC3 aircraft can't.
I recommend doing the training and looking at the manual before jumping into any real mission let alone a multiplayer server. Unless in a private game, don't shoot down your teammates even if you are friends because, in real servers, you will get kicked. Especially in that F-18 taxiing situation, doing things like exploding on purpose can get some people mad and could have gotten you kicked if you hit him. You also can play dcs in VR (I think its the best way personally)
Edit: I have been made aware that the words above may construct the wrong message, so for previous and new readers. In no way should you completely read the manual for any airframe you wish to fly. There is a man named Chuck who makes excellent guides on each airframe in depth. Looking at the manuals/chucks guide provides a non-anecdotal source of information that can be used in the long run. Many times have I searched up videos for help and found nothing on the topic, but I have found it in the manuals.
Sad you have to add a disclaimer. I have been in DCS for well over 10 years. I have reached the point of the more stricter servers. There are some that just don't joke around. If you just knick the paint of a friendly aircraft you are booted. If you don't call your airbase intentions you get smashed. I recently went back on to the Grim Reapers servers (always a fallback fun place) and instead of flying missions I ended up being the flight instructor for an Apache. Help a guy in the UK learn how to operate it. But their one server is setup to learn the aircraft and make mistakes. Plus there is always someone willing to help you. But that's the reason for that one and a lot of the people I fly with I met through that server. Then you branch out to others servers. The 107th servers are really good. They actually made the mission that are ran on many others servers. Just slight changes here and there. It is great you have servers to choose from that are at whatever level you're at.
@@CueDriver Yeah, I have been flying with the 107th for about 6 months now in their libs and their big missions. I think the more realistic the gameplay/scenarios are the more fun they are to fly. But, I am not going to push that idea on other people if that's not what they are playing for. But I'm also not gonna let someone live in the deep depths of 4ya lmao. I would love to be a formalities instructor for DCS
I'm kind of puzzled at the comments about public IP being visible. That's literally how networking works. That's how all servers work. How else is a packet going to get to it if not via the public IP address?
I'm not claiming to be a networking genius but most games allow you to create a coop server and play with your friends without dishing out your public IP to everyone involved. Whether it's hosted by me, or some amazon server the devs are paying for, idk. But either way the IP shouldn't just be on full display lol. That's a nightmare for everyone.
if those servers are true p2p instead of being hosted (or proxied) by some dedicated servers, then every instance of the game connected to the lobby will know the IP. Often that's not interesting to the players so the user interface doesn't show it, but it takes about 30 seconds for anyone who wants the IP to find it. Not showing the IP will hide it from youtube/streaming/etc. but not other players
Since their inputs/game state has to reach you, they need to know what address to send game updates to. The only way around it is a dedicated server that will forward packets on the player's behalf without them having a direct way to communicate
Now try the a10c
5:30 - Back to spectator first.
lmao you didnt even get the full module for the plane. You got the watered down kid version
Why would you get rid of your VR to fly in DCS? Seems counterintuitive...
framerate
even i cant figure out the A10 2 i can teach you the f16 or f18 tho but im new too i just know more than yu because i pressed shift tab in multiplayer, watched yt vids and joined disc servers
DCS is definitely not an arcade game that you can just step into.

What’s you pc specs?
most normal 4ya players
you're giving me too much credit, 4ya players are much more skilled than I am lol
Didn’t use your VR for DCS????
There's a huge market for gamers who just want an awesome flying experience without learning how to fly IRL.
DCS needs a straight up arcade mode with VR cockpit interfaces. Or VTOL needs a high fidelity texture pack lol. Somewhat basic graphics aside the game is incredible for pickup and play.
Yeah there's a wide open space in the market for a somewhat great flightsim/flightsimlite. War Thunders monetization is awful, playing DCS feels like using office software from 2008, and VTOL is great but requires a PC and VR headset, and isn't the most visually appealing to the average gamer.
Nuclear Option looks like it could take up this space. I haven't tried it yet but it looks kinda like VTOL but for PC.
DCS has vr cockpit interfaces

to stop exploding when you respawn, stop ejecting. Just go back to spectators and choose a new slot
DCS is amazing but after getting spoiled by full VR support in VTOL I was dedicated to play DCS in VR. If you want to do so you just need a multi-thousand dollar rig and setup not counting the PC. Even then the VR implementation is just really poor. So I ended giving up as I’m not that dedicated and it was a worse experience in VR with my current setup.
Yeah VTOL is just a overall better experience in my opinion. Sure it's not as in depth, but it's still pretty in depth while also not wasting too much of your time. Easy to play with friends, way cheaper, etc.
DCS is fun, but the user experience just isn't there.
