Awesome vid brother. I would love for you to do a vid on the top water bubble rig when the Spanish are running. Lots of people don't know about this simple rig. I've caught specs, blues, mack, nasty ladies, needle fish, and small jack. Especially if you just want to catch a fish , no matter what, this rig will do it.

Quite a variety, though I'm sure you could have done without the bait-stealing cats, ladyfish, and sharks ... still, I was glad to see you get to land your own pompano on your own rod LOL.!

Caught a 13” pompano last week on a 9’ Cabela’s fish eagle casting salmon/steelhead rod. I was near Panama City Beach. I had an Abu Garcia 5500 C3 reel on the rod. Nice fight. I’ve had the rod for a while, first pompano on the rod. It won’t be the last.
I know nothing about sharks! Great learning for me! Enjoyed the light tackle Pompano fishing!

I'm using Okuma SST (salmon, steelhead, trout) 10'9" rods and I love them.
They are strong enough to deal with a dolphin snagging my pomp rig. But that was more of a testament to a proper drag set and a sand spike that was deep and tight.

I follow Daniel of at Arms Family Homestead and he mentioned you and showed a little clip of you so I wanted to check out your channel. I have family in Alabama and Florida. I might have to try some Pompano when I go for the family reunion. You mentioned they prefer colder water, so it sounds like July isn't the month to try to find some.

I have a 7 ft pursuit 3 for light tackle. I usually only throw bait about 25 feet out. Caught a 15 inch pompano last Wednesday. Talk about a rod bending fight.

I love your videos. Would you consider doing a video comparing a clip down rig to your standard loop rigs? A clip down is a UK/Australia rig that is used for distance. There’s an Australian guy here in Texas who uses the clipped down Riggs exclusively and he catches a lot of pompano over the third bar. If you know anything about catching pompano in Texas it is neither common nor easy and he catches some studs. His name is Nick Meyer and he is on TH-cam. He sells breakaway fishing equipment. I know this is a big request but I would love to see you compare and contrast the two rigs and get your opinion.
I have a ugly stick elite Steelhead 9’ MH rod...And use it with a 2500 size reel and a bg4000 for larger species. Have tried a 4000 size reel for Targeting pompano? It may help get them in when they run through the surf. Any way Keep up the great videos .
Have you reeled in any bull reds or big uglies on the steelhead rods yet? Bet that would be a fun fight! I prefer light tackle fishing in general bc I love the fight more than eating fish. Tight lines brother

I just picked up a Penn Persuit 3 4000 & ordered a Battle 2 3000. Using Ugly Stilk Bigwater & Elite for inshore & surf. What’s your opinion?
You should make pomp rigs Nd sell them im sure people will buy them
I realize the camera changes perspective, but how come you set up so far from the water (at least it seems like it)?
I "think" he is attempting to keep the rod tip as high as possible. Moving up from the surf helps accomplish that.
You want to keep your rods out of the wet sand so they don’t get pulled over. That’s why they go so far back from the water
@@TCampbell1990 I sink my rod holders down into wet sand 100% of the time and have never had one pulled over. I only do that because I don't like to carry a hammer down to the surf with me and I can use the "secret vacuum" method of getting my pvc holders into the sand. Works for me. 😉
